I am amazed at how much the West is aware of our Vedic knowledge,be it yoga, ayurveda, meditation, Sanskrit etc.On the contrary our Govts are trying their best to keep this knowledge away from we Indians.A sad reality that Maharshi Mahesh himself felt that until the West does not understand and value our knowledge we Indians will not value it.

Rajiv Sir has been doing a great service to our Dharma for decades. But no official recognition rendered to HIM by Government of India. Many half baked individuals got Padma Shri Padma Bhushan and many more awards and rewards but Rajiv Sir did get none.His talks do touch us and influence by his eloquence, his profundity, his erudition and originality. His relentless efforts were ignored in past and are being bypassed in present times by Modi Government who allegedly claims to be standing for Santana Dharma. We Social Media Users take notice of his works and propagate by sharing and talking about HIM. He is the Person who should be Honoured with Love and Respect not only by us but by Government and other agencies. A Literary Luminary Shri S L Bhyrappa, Kannada Literature has not been acknowledged with Top Indian Awards whose works are mesmerising and thought provoking for Santana Dharma.

In 1969 -1972 I learned meditation from the Maharishi it was in a paperback book I bought, sad to say you we’re crucified from people, (western religions) for doing this practice. Very happy now we can freely use this wonderful tool. People use to burn books, and destroy records during. Elvis rock and roll. Unlike the Western medical science, Indian approach of considering spirit and body as a one unit for the cause and cure of the diseases is very meaningful. All the vedic sciences keep the fundamentals questions at the center to answer like who are you? what is ur eternal dharma? What is this world and who is God and what is the nature of God? Srila Prabhupada also in west not just gave heavy empasis on these essential spiritual fundamentals but also forbid any other attempt to use the science distinct from these core fundamentals as it leads to corruption of knowledge. This is a very sad account of Hinduism in the west in the 1960’s- 70’s. So much opportunity was lost and ISKCON suffered as a result of being intellectually and philosophically severed with the rest of Mainstream Hindu Traditions. Prabhupad’s statements on Swami Ramakrishna and Vivekananda also make for a sad reading.

Fyi Maharishi mahesh yogi ji has opened many school across India and world and I'm proud to be part of that institution. I still remember the day he died few years ago. He was wraped in silvery sheet. There was so much crowd there. I'd thank his teachings that taught yoga, vedic science and ayurveda. Meditation was a part of our curriculum. Its beautiful ❤️

I am very sorry to say that our indian minds have been programmed to receive our ancient wisdom better through a westerner. Is it because the way we were taught in schools? When did we lose our pride? Quite early in life?

The answers is: You lost your pride because , it appears, you never bothered to read the Bhagavad Gita.....it's still not too late, please read the Gita....it's transcendental , because it was spoken by Lord Krishna, the Supreme Lord. Hence , the contents of the Gita are situated on a spiritual platform. The Gita is the literary incarnation of Lord Krishna.....its spiritual potency is as powerful as Lord Krishna, provided you read it daily with a focused mind , reverance & faith in God....it doesn't matter if your faith in God is weak in the beginning. Krishna is pure...His body is pure & spiritual & His mind, senses , intelligence , heart are also pure & spiritual. Because his body is spiritual, whatever He speaks & all his actions ( including the sound of the music emanating from His flute ) are spiritual and therefore they transcend ( situated above ) the material nature . Therefore, when you read the Gita daily, because each & every word of the slokas He recited is spiritual, gradually, your bodily ( material) consciousness weakens and you begin to develop spiritual ( God,) consciousness. If you continue with this practice over a longer period of time, realisation dawns upon you that you are not this physical body..rather ,you are an eternal spirit soul ( jiv atma) residing in your heart and part & parcel of the eternal Super soul ( Sri Krishna),who is also residing in your heart as Paramatma.... In this state of spiritual consciousness, you experience enduring peace happiness & pure love of Paramatma ( Krishna). The practice of reading the Gita with a focused mind purifies your ( material) senses,mind intelligence, heart, body.....gradually , your ( jiv atma's) enjoyment of material sense objects weakens & attachment to Paramatma becomes stronger because you experience enduring peace,happiness & pure love of God residing in your heart..... With such an enduring relationship with Krishna, your bad habits ( eg smoking, alcohol, fast food , anger, envy, impatience, arrogance, etc) are automatically discarded, including fear, because Krishna has taken charge of your body, mind senses etc. and directs you towards a righteous path and encourages to examine what the REAL PURPOSE of life is and why we are in this material world full of misery & suffering. That is the potency of the Bhagavad Gita spoken by Lord Krishna by 5000 yrs ago on the Kurukshetra battlefield ( near Delhi) to his devotee Arjuna . I can tell you from my own experience and also of many others, that daily reading of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is for one hour, with sharp concentration, will bring back your self esteem and your pride in our unrivalled Vedic spiritual culture of India and also expand your intelligence , sharpen your memory & most importantly, Paramatma ( Krishna) from within will motivate you to cultivate good habits & discard harmful lifestyle The Bhagavad Gita deals with five topics: God(Bhagavan), Jiv atma (individual soul) , Karma (action), Material Nature and Time The process I've described above is stated as Bhakti Yoga ( Devotional Service to God Krishna with form ) as opposed to engaging in meditation when mind is focused on formless God ( Brahman, the impersonal form of God such as Om.) This worship( meditation) of the formless God is described in the Gita as Jnana Yoga. The third type of worship dealt with in the Gita is Karma Yoga. In the Bhakti Yoga process, the same result ( Krishna Consciousness) can be achieved by chanting the Hare Krishna mantra...it is stated that repeatedly chanting the name of Krishna is as potent as reading the Bhagavad Gita This chanting of Hare Krishna mantra is also Bhakti Yoga, because you are worshipping the personal ( spiritual bodily) form of Krishna. The Bhakti Yoga process is the easiest of the three process to follow, as Lord Krishna Himself confirms in the Gita. The ISKCON edition of the Gita is known as BHAGAVAD GITA AS IT IS...this is the most authentic & original scripture with elaborately written Purports written by Swami Prabhupada ( a Self Realised towering soul ) explaining each verse in a simple language, but also in gread detail All glories to Sri Krishna All glories to Srila Prabhupada .Hare Krishna! @suneel k nope, most westerners are not like you described. The west appropriates and digests indigenous indian sciences and never gives the credit to india. It's called stealing. They did the same with yoga.
