As a member of The Print for a long time, I need to register my strong disagreement and disappointment with DK Singh regarding this program. I have been a member for unhyphenated, unbiased journalism which The Print claims, but didn’t find that the case this time around As regards what is happening in Bangladesh and the violence against Hindus, DK says that intellectuals and journalists of India should not react and that we should let the Government of India to respond and tackle it diplomatically. This was something I could not wrap my head around. I don’t want to draw any parallels with any other incident anywhere in the world (no Israel, no Rafah, no Taliban), but I need to know should that be the standard response of a ‘journalist’ who Shekhar Gupta, of all persons, holds in high esteem. Another thing that I find difficult to understand is the proclamation of Sheikh Hasina as a dictator. She was elected through a legitimate election. An election where BNP on its own decided to not contest and, yes, Jamat being a radical organization was banned. What if in the next election, for whatever reason, BJP/ NDA decide to boycott and Congress wins with majority? Should the Congress Government then be termed as a ‘Dictatorial Regime’? Sheikh Hasina and her Government have been such a steadfast ally of our country, does she not deserve that we at least state some facts about the legitimacy of her election, rather than terming her as a dictator. It’s easy to call her that, but I am not sure when The Print calls the current regime headed by Muhammad Yunus to be illegitimate or dictatorial or just anti-democratic? Because from where I am and from what I see, neither was Muhammad Yunus nor any of his Ministers or the Generals of Bangladesh Army were elected by the people of Bangladesh. But I guess, interviews with Muhammad Yunus are of greater importance than plain and simple fact. DK talked about the stand-off between the Chairman of Rajya Sabha and Jaya ‘Amitabh’ Bachchan. From where I saw, I could clearly see misbehavior and disrespect by the MP and not for the first time. She started it with the Deputy Chairman (& no one claimed that the tone of Dy Chair was not good). If she has a problem with her name, she can always get it changed. If she wanted the Chair to call her by a shorter version of her name, I am sure she would have easily requested the Chair properly, without disrespect and I am sure the Chair would have been more than happy to oblige. It cannot happen that the lady time and again being curt and arrogant with the Chair and the individual sitting there would not respond. From what I see, the opposition has not respect for the Chair of Parliamentary traditions and since the numbers of opposition have improved in both houses and they think they can do whatever they want. I am a little disappointed with The Print and I am saying this because I value what you people are doing. I am sure I will get over this, with some corrections from your side.

There are targeted killings and arson going on against minorities in Bangladesh. While I agree that we shouldn’t become alarmists, let’s not trivialize it either. The government acts only when the people demands. We need to demand the Indian Govt to at the least ensure that Bangladeshi minorities get refugee status in India.

For a country in which radical Islam is quite prevalent? Do you people even know that most of the middle east Arab countries go to ISRAEL for high end medical treatment since DECADES? The treatment provided by Israelites to Arab muslims is NOT considered as a favour by the Arab Muslims.
