Ministry of Education has invited suggestions on Draft National Curriculum Framework for School Education. The NCF brings to life the aims and commitments of the NEP. This includes the full range of human capacities, values and dispositions that are aimed to be developed in school education.
It is integrative and holistic with equal status to all subjects and learning domains from Math to Sports. It integrates vocational education in all schools, and there is integration across subjects while developing rigorous subject understanding and capacities.
The draft NCF aims to break the straitjacket of streams and recommends a bouquet of eight curricular areas each for Classes 9-10 and 11-12. In Classes 11-12, students can opt for any 16 choice-based courses from the eight curricular areas, to be covered over four semesters. The eight curricular areas are humanities, mathematics and computing, vocational education, physical education and sports, arts education, social science, science and interdisciplinary areas. For Classes 9-10, the annual schedule will be followed but two board exams for each year has been recommended.

This is one of the best initiative taken ! As a student who took up commerce because i wanted to learn about finance , but loved history , I had to give up on something i love just so that i could learn something more important . I love the fact that "hard division" of subjects is no longer going to stop any student from doing what they love and what the need .

We must focus on the individual capability rather than stick on the class room teaching as a wholesome approach. For this our academics must have specific SUBJECT LABORATORY. This will certainly fulfill the best need of each and every learner. It would also not only save the time of a learner but at the same time will faster the growth of research and invention right from the very early stage.

Rightly said. Every human is unique. There are different possibilities hidden in every student. The teacher should be able to search for that possibility and shape that student accordingly.

Very nice initiative. This will reduce the differentiation among the students. But more importance should be given on the CPD of in-service teachers for quality education.

Rural areas major challenge is in procedure in appointment of quality teacher i came with many cases where politics and nepotism is major problem while choosing or after appointment they having no creative teaching freedom. Those appointed have no critical Knowledge about the subject they are teaching. There are many more critical problems in management system of schools also

What are the different skills I need to carry out a task in actual industry? Today in the corporate world we can do small courses applied in work projects. We learn the skills and build insights as we go along our work (skill based + understanding based (black box/white box) + project based) As the amount of knowledge grows exponentially we need to think of courses as Lego bricks of different types that can be mixed and matched as per the requirement of the work or solution. Example : Biology + Robotics + Batteries covers at least 3 different fields. Can we take courses to learn enough of these fields as required by the project. Only if ranking system allows for such learning through credit system at school level. This is what the credit system tries to achieve. Have a basic toolkit in school which will allow you to use the future courses as Lego bricks to build what the future requires.

It'll be done in phases with first few textbooks in 2024. Feedback will be taken and used to refine the system to make it deliver the results expected.

NCF also should consider various suitable methods to help the first generation learners as still we see the children coming from remote villages from illiterate or semi literate backgrounds and attending schools without proper understanding of the subjects that they will be learning!! Unless a strong foundation is laid through conducting additional classes and create a conducive environment to those children who mostly go to the government and ordinary private schools according to their economic situation, we cannot expect to see a significant improvement in the academic performance!! Our end results at the end of the academic year always turns out to be very disappointing in the government schools! Hope some measures will be taken to address and tackle these issues!!

This is not waste. Just think about it in details. Suppose you want to join medical field, you take biology. But if you take a humanity subject like anthropology, you have more options as a medical student now. You can become a doctor which is what most people search for. But now as you have anthropology as your subject, you can relate your biology and anthropology knowledge as how man evolved, what functions did genes play in it, how difference in physical body lead to difference in social structures, etc. If you see in scientists community today, they are relating different subjects which we thought are so different that they can't be studied together. This is a myth now. Another example can be of carpenter. Today we see carpenters making wooden products in India, but they can't compete with foreign products. Why? Because we know only carpentery, but they apply knowledge of maths(particularly geometry) to produce products which look beautiful, low waste produced in making them. Even carpenter require knowledge of technology. This may have positive effect on his product and he may earn more money.
