Khaiyyam sahab is the most famous legendary figure in the Indian classical and film music. He is the only one who kept and promoted the tradition and continue to do so till now. I am the great fan of him from Kathmandu, Nepal and wanted to meet him. Thanks for posting this interview.

Khayyam is one of the most underrated music director. His collaboration with Sahir created magic. My personal favourite is : Shyam-E-Gham Ki kasam..What a composition to complement the sublime poetry by Ali Sardar Jafri & Majrooh sab!! Shagoon’s Songs are also jewels..sung by Rafi & Suman Kalyanpur. My eternal love & respect for Khayyam sab.

yes, Khayyam is so down to earth and humble. he is not mentioned in the same league as nushad, s d berman or Shankar jaikishan, but I think when it comes to popularity and heart touching melodies, he is way up there. he also has great taste of poetry. I am also impressed that he doesnot forget his elders. I ithink he surpassed baba chishti but he always mentions his name with great respect.
