The most New Yorkian Cat In the history of New Yorkers. Lol I was blessed to have an opportunity to meet Rakim back in the mid 90" s Ultra Cool Brother. We had a 20 to 25 minute talk about jazz recordings that ill always remember..now at the time I had a decent little Jazz record collection going and i thought I really knew my shit when it comes to that form of music but whew! Man,Rakim was a Human Encyclopedia of Jazz Music!. He was rattling off must have recordings I never knew existed at time!.naming musicians in quartets and quintets and their individual recordings, The whole bit It was impressive to say the least!!.thinking back on it though,it was during the midst of what later would be known as "The Golden Era" of Hip Hop and back then,New York Hip Hop was All over that Heavy Jazz frequency.they did not fuck around with it they were serious aficionados who in my humble opinion helped usher in what I saw as a straight up renaissance of sorts in the mind s of younger listeners at least with how the Jazz was incorporated into the songs back then.. anyhow, that short conversation with The R changed my entire outlook on jazz that I still carry with me to this day..I doubt that the Brother would even remember the convo but I know that I will never forget it..Salute To The God MC and Thanks for the life changing Music Appreciation Lesson.

I could never be convinced it was anyone else because no matter what the reasons..the one reason that cannot be assigned to any other rapper, no matter if were talking about eminems sandwich within a sandwich abilities or gymnastics ..this was 86..87 no one had even heard more than 2, 3 types of flow. New Music would come out of nowhere, and where or how you got your ears on it was still mysterious. Rap was still in it's infancy, and here comes this cold, deep voice that didn't follow the beat the way it was expected. It was not just COMPLETELY FRESH. but it had never existed. A beat 1234 1234 1234 *123 I aint no 1(JOKE!) I used to let the mic smoke 4.> 1(then) I SLAM.. the world was a brand new place that day.

heres a list of my favorite eric b rakim RUMORS FROM THE 80s during their peak. 1)Paid In Full Posse showed up to 5% Nation rally 6 Range Rovers deep. 2)In 86 Rakim had a shootout in Claremont PJs in the BX after a show in the center. 3)Rakim got caught by cops in the 90s in BK w/a few keys of yay. 4)ERIC B got caught by cops w/guns & yay in his turntable cases in Philly. LOL 5)Eric B would drive his Rolls Royce from NYC to Baltimore/DC and back. these RUMORS only added to the mystique of what we already knew and saw of them. I'm quite sure they've heard a few of em. rakim even addressed the alleged drug bust rumor in one of his rhymes.
