Very nice rake... When its time for me to replace my Vermeer WR22 I think I will check out the Kuhn as well as the newer Vermeer (which look identical!)

Lots of adjustments are a very good thing.

Looks like a pre nice rake....so many adjustments I feel I'd confuse myself. I like to jus put mine down and find road gear...faster you go the more the hay tents.

Seth E yes! since this isnt dairy quality whaen it comes time for the final pass it will be in 7th gear!

Jon Stevens Maple Grove Farms. Grew up with a old bar rake. Hay is so much more fun now with 12 wheels and 12 mph! Haha

We traded our tedder for one of those. I would rake the windrows together side by side and bale em both. The Khun SR 110 is one of the best pieces we own.

69druth normally that is the plan. so muggy i just wanted to get air to each windrow. desperate measures. lol

Would you be doing the rain dance because you're hoping that it got rained on?

Nice rake!
@howrancheswork20166 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem with those rakes is that the things that hold the rake wheels on they tend to get plugged up when you heavy thick windrows
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms37546 жыл бұрын
Collin Espeseth yeah. with clean alfalfa its not an issue. if we get into heavy old first cutting with timothy and broam grass i push the rake frame out to open that area up as much as possible.

Are you going to get that feed tested for protein etc
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms37546 жыл бұрын
James O Brien the biggest thing is sulfur content to make sure its safe. if its safe then i will look at the feed value.

I’m fixing to buy a new rake Sounds like you would recommend the Kuhn?
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms37545 жыл бұрын
I would 100% recommend this rake. If nothing else at least give it a look and compare it. The only reason I wouldn't get it is if you are doing high quality where ash count in the hay test is an issue. Then them pto powered tedder rakes would be the way to go. I did get extra spring to take some weight off the wheels. Less engagement of the soil and it worked really well.

If you’re worried about dirt you should’ve bought a rotary rake. Much more expensive but I’d say it’s worth it

Jon Stevens Maple Grove Farms Man I hear ya. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a V Rake soon. Maybe next year not sure. Stuck with an old slow New Idea 405 bar rake. Works good tho. Probably last forever lol

The hay is thin enough to rake the rows side by side,saves an extra trip
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms37545 жыл бұрын
I thought about trying to get 3 rows into one or double up the doubles. But with the neighbor baling i didnt want to cause him trouble.

That's a speed rake gotta get it at least up to 8 mphs lol or faster
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 Жыл бұрын
Nope, if the rake has to go thar fast I need a different rake, if you are making a lot of dust you are bringing ash content into the feed.
@chasewelfel7964 Жыл бұрын
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 ash? Content?? That's a Good one
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 Жыл бұрын
I am a jokester,but i never kid about quality feed. It's a very important thing. It shows up in your feed test. Clostridium and other soil bacteria can be in that dust, gut health, and feed efficiency of sheep/cattle can be effected, can even cause breeding/abortion issues in some instances. If you're going fast enough to make a big dust cloud behind you and can see dust on the feed, you're going too fast.
