Talk about the power of the internet. Arran 10 has sold out darned near everywhere. If you spot a bottle somewhere grab it because no more is coming anytime soon. This is actually good news for the future of the OSWAs. Distillers will see that Arran sold out within a month and then start to take Roy and Ralfy seriously. I get the feeling that the industry treated this year's awards as a bit of a joke. If winning means that your product sells out then watch that attitude change. Congratulations to Roy and Ralfy.

i tried arran 10 last week. one of my favorites now. since i am new to scotch, i try to get a different bottle every time. i might just get a bottle to shelf next time i see it. one of the best i have tasted under $50.

An excellent whisky and a great introduction to Glengyle distillery. Now if you can get any of the 8yo cask strength versions.... that's where Kilkerran really shines.

Hi Ralfy, you are totally right. No swigging, no guzzling or gulping. Will keep it quality and not quantity. Problem is that you recommand excellent bottlings that I am going to buy after watching your videos. Feels like being back in school or university. Everyone is listening to the teacher. I remember a few years ago when I'd pick this up for $45...I kept thinking to myself "damn this is good, I'd pay double for it". Here I am now paying a double for it. Sure the Ralfy's helped screw up my secret.... but the liquid stands on it's own. Absolutely delicious, probably the most oily Scotch I've had, and a much better whisky than many others priced well above it which people have been programmed to believe they're worth it.

Lovely stuff which sat under the radar screen for a while, at least in the US market. Getting more difficult to find, and prices are creeping up…glad I grabbed a couple. Definitely feels like a trip back in time and a stroll through an old warehouse.

He's authentic, funny yet sound and serious about his topics. And of course I heavily rely on his recommendations, even if the only thing I can taste in a good drum is wether I like it or not ...

Very interesting to hear that this offering has become rare. Years ago I believe you reviewed it which prompted me to buy a bottle. Loved it so much I kept buying it. Down to 2 or 3 in my stock. Guess those will have to go a long ways since the prices have nearly doubled. Hope the distiller has lots in the warehouse so they can profit off their hard work.

I tried this whisky in its new style of bottling without the tube (couldn’t get hold of the old style) and it took me on an amazing journey of smell and taste. Spent well over an hour with the glass and it changed the longer it went on. Great whisky very interesting and glad I have two bottles of it. One to drink and one to archive.

I totally agree about bladnoch, though I think its only good as mainly bourbon matured. Imo the spirit does not work well with wine casks. Love the 10 and 11 bottles.

Because of that Bottle i fell in Love with Campbeltown and started exploring other Kilkerran (the Heavily Peated) and Glen Scotias and absolutely enjoyed them. Sad to see that Springbank ,which is also great Stuff (had 12CS, 18 and Hazelburn 14 and my total favourite the Longrow 13 SingleCask), and now also Kilkerran Prices are going Up THAT FAST . But this will only force me to put my Eyes to other unexplored Gems in the Shops out there , and giving me the chance of new Smells and Tastes , which is a good Thing for me. I just found 3 of these today for $90 each at my local spirit shop and snapped them up. Kilkerran is exceptionally well crafted whisky and most people don’t yet know that it’s every bit as good as Springbank. In fact I loaded up on several malt buys today based on your videos - Deanston 14yr organic for $68, Tobermory 12yr for $60 and a nice Glengoyne natural color non chilled 15yr single cask hogshead bottled at 50% by Hunter Laing for $100. You can still find true quality for fair prices if you know what to look for…

Challenging to find Kilkerran where I live in The Midlands (UK). My local shop is great and gets various Kilkerran offerings in, but they go out again very quickly. Happened upon a bottle of the Kilkerran 8 year old cask strength by chance while strolling around Lewes on the south coast while visiting family in the summer. It's currently lurking in my stash waiting for the right time to be cracked. Cheers 🥃

Kilkerran 12 was fairly easy to find in big city stores here in Texas until recently. Now it's about as rare as Springbank 10, so it's no longer the substitute I had been depending on. The character of the two Campbeltown malts are very similar, with the Springbank being a bit bolder and Kilkerran having a little more complexity - very good whisky in either case!

Good to see the quality holds. Nearly any Springbank/Glengyle malt is now sold out where I live. Just this last summer it still went for £37-38 here in Czechia and was fairly frequently in stock at a few retailers. I'm sure it will come back at a significantly higher price, but if it's going to be unrealistic, I won't be buying. Still got a bottle and a half to save for later. To be fair, the people who make these malts deserve the sales and the scarcity sure isn't artificial.

The Springbank folk are generally pretty good for not ripping off customers

For years before the official launch Springbank used to release bottles of "Work in Progress" annually. A wonderful window into the development of a malt which became Kilkerran. While some years were better than others they were all interesting. The first years official bottling was, in my view, stunning. More recently I feel that, while still only a very lightly peated whisky, it has become slightly peatier than I prefer. Bizarrely ( and medically highly unlikely, I have no doubt ) I developed Multiple Sclerosis 7 years ago and could not drink whisky at all for 2 years. It was like there was a whisky centre in my brain which had been burned out. Eventually, and after the intervention of my sons and a bottle of Nikka Taketsura I learned to enjoy it again but am really sensitive to small amounts of peat. Weird. Still, great to see you review Kilkerran, an underrapreciated gem. Also as I watched your review I couldn't help but remember the days when I could buy a bottle of 21 year old Springbank in Makro cash n carry for £32. Sigh.

Not even sure how this is possible or am I just dreaming. But I just found a kilkerran 12, kilkerran heavily peated, Springbank longrow, and a hazelburn. Bought all four for a little more than $230. Not sure who missed up here but that’s about $60 or so dollars a bottle. The liquor store guy said they get all these scotches and all they sell is bourbons. My new favorite shop.

Pretty much a quiet but sensational whisky Just happened to have this today with my maltmate and we were blown away. The way it coats your mouth and lingers to your palate is amazing. I'm glad I was able to stash away a couple of bottles in good time.

I just got my hands on a Longrow NV last week. Great dram to beat the Canadian cold. A little too expensive at LCBO however, $104, phew! I guess since Springbank Distillery produces so little that the prices are high.... 🤷🏽‍♂️

This dram is incredibly savory don't expect honey and vanilla but white pepper spices and oak are much more prominent. It seems to change slightly every time I try it and the finish can produce bitterness. A worth it drop just because its different.

I have 2 Kilkerran 12 bottles. I guess Glengyle no longer prints “non-chill filtered” and “no added coloring.” Maybe this was printed on the bottles boxes, which did not come with the bottles.

A couple months ago I found a bottle of this going for 36€ on a very happy accident and I couldn't believe it, a complete steal for what was in the bottle. Bought it immediately, and sure enough a couple weeks later they were selling for 50+ €, by now even those are all gone, not a bottle in sight. Not sure if brexit or manipulation, but just goes to show how far quality goes. Sadly though, it might be the last bottle of kilkerran I bought for a long time onwards, as I doubt the prices will go down. But hey, at least I got to try it.

Just finished reading both of the Ralfy books - read them the wrong way round as “Bothy” turned up second. I’m glad I did as the stories in the “Whisky Bar” were fresh as you saw references in the “Bothy” on the read. I enjoyed them both - saw a bit of myself in the way Ralfy sees the world (only a little though! He’s very unique). I’ll drop into Amazon and give the 5⭐️ and pass them on to my malt mates. As is often the case, this bottle went from 35€ to 75€ (here on Spain). The truth is that I am not willing to enrich speculators. I believe that when someone pays exorbitant prices (40% or more of its sale price) for a bottle, they are doing a disservice to the entire community that appreciates good whiskey.

I love kilkerran but the I am not sure if I got a bad batch of the 12 year old but to me it tasted like rotten egg must be sulphur from the cask. But I have had other bottles like the heavily peated and a few bottles of 8 year old. I did a swap for a Glencadam 10.

However, I would be extremely thankful if anybody could explain to me what's the reason of evaluation on a 100 point scale if he's only using 80-90 points. Ralf, hope you read this. Yesterday, I had some guests for christmas so I decided to take out my collection from my storage and put it in my mancave outside for my guests to pick which one to open. We finished about 3 bottles but I forgot the rest to store back in storage. The next morning, I went to check and the rest of the unopened bottles are ice cold coz the fireplace ran out of wood. My question is, does this ruin my collection?. Thank you in advance.
