Bacardi has been doing fantastic work with Aultmore, Royal Brackla and Craigellachie. Not so sure about Deveron and Aberfeldy yet but those three brands have had a tremendous revitalization in the past few years. Hats off to them.
@robfut99542 жыл бұрын
Aberfeldy gets some flak but for the price I see their 12 year for (fairly similar to Glenlivet 12) it offers excellent value even if it doesn’t quite shine yet like it maybe could. They’re close. I’ll be keeping an eye and buying the occasional bottle for sure given the value.

Were you referring to distillery releases for Blair Athol & Dailuaine? I have a 13 year cask strength Daluaine, and a 12 year cask strength Blair Athol, both from Signatory. I strongly prefer the Dailuaine, which strongly exhibits the ‘time in the glass’ effect, doesn’t need water, and fades noticeably after 45+ minutes, like a malt you had reviewed a while ago. I recall you tenderly serenaded Black Bull 40, snd highly recommended BB 12. Have you backtracked from that Duncan Taylor blend? I also recall praise for both Spice Tree & Flaming Heart blended malts, which until April 2021, contained Dailuaine. Do you no longer hold warm regard for Flaming Heart? Perhaps you might discuss your experiences with Blair Athol (& Bells), Dailuaine, & Duncan Taylor in future videos.

In Ontario, Canada, things are so bad, we get asia-rejected bottles, nevermind "second generation" cask bottlings . . . it takes on average, 2 and half to 3 years for a "new" release to arrive - such as the Abunadh ALBA just in May 2022 ! (batch 3)

This video is a warning about the dangers of honing your palate: the result is, you get picky! You reject the lesser stuff! You sometimes even taste the cheat! Yes, bad things happen if you hone your palate: You stop thoughtlessly consuming drinks (and also food)! You become emotionally engaged in whatever you consume! Watcher, beware of this channel - it will trigger all the above mentioned things in you! It did so for me, I love it and this is why I am a subscriber and will remain so for the forseeable future.

I'm surprised to hear you so pessimistic about any future offerings from Glenglassaugh , given the fact that they're now owned by Brown Foreman (owner of Glendronach and my favorite bourbon distilleries: Old Forrester and Woodford Reserve). Regarding Aultmore, I see the 12 year in a couple local stores, but I haven't tried it yet. And I've never seen the 18 year-old, which is fine because I do see the 18 year-old Arran bottles still on the shelf, and that's my favorite.

Ralpy < want to try something different . Glenlivet Nadurra finished in peated barrels . Nice fruity speyside with a nice hint of smoke. I think it works well and is something different from the average smooth fruity speyside. At 62 % cast strength, its worth review. Try your own blend of Teachers Highland Cream with a little Ardberg 10 year folded in. Teachers at $20 a bottle becomes a very interesting dram with a splash of Ardberg to add a bit of peat. It's a DIY where you can regulate the amount of peat to your taste. It becomes a custom whiskey depending on how much peat you like. I use Teachers becauseI think for the price it's one of the best blends around

So many gems in this video. I am curious whether FINALLY the multinationals may be punished for their reckless decision-making in this current business climate. Can Suntory really afford to raise its prices by 20% and still expect people to pay their hard-earned money for the crap they put out? If they want to reverse this policy it's going to take decades due to how long Scotch takes to mature. On the other side of the coin, if a quality distillery has to raise its prices by 20%, we'll just compare it to all the other price-risen malts and see it still offers quality for the money, and continue to buy it!
