Bought a bottle of the 10 year old Ledaig a few years ago....and when I tried it...I was so impressed, I bought a spare to put away for long term storage...it was THAT GOOD. glad to see Ledaig has kept their winning formula with this bottling...will look for it!

Recently bought a bottle of this at a (still) very affordable price and it seems that Tobermory have decided to make this a core presentation (as opposed to a ltd release). The colour of my my bottle is not as red as the one in your video, hope that the taste is still good but this will remain unopened until the weather turns a little colder: I think it will make a wonderful autumnal dram. Fingers crossed!

Not surprising at all that you'd find Rioja and Chianti similar - the main grapes in each, tempranillo and sangiovese, are close cousins of each other and share the same bright flavours

Thanks for every review, i do enjoy your channel a lot Ralfy! Just to mention that "La Rioja" is a region in spain (well spotted by you), but does not belong to basque country (although some basque independent people will applaud that hahaha). It is True that the very south of basque country belong to the "Rioja wine" origin of denomination, called "Rioja Alavesa". just to conclude, Campo Viejo is not a good rioja, cooking wine. Remelluri Reserva will give you one of the greatest experiences on rioja, as well as Marques de Murrieta (voiding the top class rioja, that could be very expensive). Thanks for all the knowledge, i well use it in the restaurant I work for in Edinburgh, and the one i worked in Isle of skye. All the best!!

I love my Ledaig 10... I have the Laphroaig 10, Ardbeg 10, Port Charlotte 10 and also a Lagavulin 16. Just order this Ledaig Rioja, my first Peated NAS and with wine finish for a change (although PC does use french wine casks and L16 probably uses sherry casks). Can't wait for it to arrive!

I bought a bottle of this in November 2021. At that time, Ledaig 10 was quite hard to find in my area but I was in a shop one day and they had this, so I gave it a go. Unfortunately it wasn't really doing it for me. There can be no doubt about the quality and the value if you can get this bottle for £35. However, I'm yet to find a whisky finished in a wine cask that I really love. Just personal taste. Got a bottle of Ledaig 10 in January for £36.68 equivalent (bought for €41.99), a little bit extra but much more to my taste. I'm finding myself going after peated whiskies that aren't from Islay these days. Just a bit of fun, enjoyed Ballechin, Benriach (smoky quarter cask) and Machrie Moor too.

Got it for £33 off MOM & give it 3.5/5. It's light, bright & fresh with a rasberry(cask) & cracked back pepper(spirit) thing goin on. Peat is there in abundance with a medium finish. I do however think it is missing that oily mouth feel you usually get from the standard 10yo. Glad I got it though as the cask management is on point, it makes this young spirit sing & sizzle with spice so no fusile notes at all.

Greeting Mr Ralfy from down under and thank you for another great review. As usual, as soon I saw the video, I started Google searching the whisky. Luckily found it in my local bottle shop for AU$99.99 and added to the bucket list. I bought a bottle of single malt the other day from Costco, 750ml, no ages statement but heavily peated for $105 which is a great value for a 57%ABV, apparently it is from Alexander Murray which I never heard of before, I have to admit, I liked it a lot and I might buy one or two more bottles. Have a great day, Mr Ralfy. BTW , my 12 year old Bunnahabhain cask strength arrived today, so excited for the weekend to try it.

Hi Ralfy, a timely review, I bought this bottle a week ago. The aroma is cool leather, smoky and a little stable, but I'm mega surprised how quickly the forest fruits reveal themselves in the aroma, very interesting phenomenon. On the taste it's solid, I'm no expert but I think the fruit is due to those wine barrels, the alcohol not too well hidden but I think it's a matter of age. The finish, on the other hand, is probably the best of everything, it lingers for a long time but slowly comes out everything that was in the aroma and taste. I'm very satisfied, I'm slowly starting to think about the Ledaig 10 yo, because I also didn't have the opportunity. Greetings from Poland!

I will have to see if some importer can get this to the west coast. I really enjoyed the 10 year single malt from Jura, btw, $40 US was a spectacular buy. I have been on a single malt tour if you will, for about 2 years and must say Jura is rivaling my favorite Macallan 12; which has raised in price precipitously. Love that you put thoughts in the scale! Still - I challenge the scaling system in general. We still only using numbers between 60 to 95 when we could use 0 to 100 (given that 0 would still be a whisky and not just water or used motor oil). In the current scale everything below 70 will only be considered in a purely scary scientific way to challenge my bearings. In my opinion this scale was concieved by the industry to make even the worst whiskies look somehow good - because they are above 50 % right? Sooo they can't be that bad... or can they!
@benrobson1177 Жыл бұрын

I wish it were more true that at higher ABVs that whiskeys weren't chill-filtered. But alas, still too many bourbons are just that. Heaven Hill and Beam Suntory still chill-filter quite a few bottled-in-bonds (50% ABV). Baffling, I can only chalk it up to an addiction and/or ignorance. And that's just two distilleries.

Totally off topic: well its peated so kind of. Just bought a bottle of Uigedail. Its never been the same as its first iteration but is a solid sherried peat hit. I was sure all Ardbeg was Natural colour. They have the non chill fill statement but I thought it looked much darker than usual so looked and can see no 'natural colour' on label or box. It tastes good and the darker colour could be from newer wet casks rather than the older matured stuff. Could be a mandella effect. If anyone is in the EU and has a new new bottle can you tell me if it has the old Zuckerkulor(sic). If so: why? Green bottle! It looks like a wet PX cask but doesn't have the taste. I just like to know. Maybe why its going cheap(er)! Thanks!!
