Hi ralfy Hope you are getting along well, your subject was very much appreciated, it took me down memory lane, you have convinced me to tell my story. I was around 8 years old and I would lay down in the front seat of my father's 1952 Pontiac cheftone and would turn on the radio 📻and this night I ran down the cars battery, most importantly I had lit up my father's cigar left in the ashtray, I didn't know he would come out of the friends house and I guess he knew that I had lite up his cigar, so he told me to come into the house, and he said you are grown up now, and then he said here is a brand new cigar, and then he said lite it up so I did, then he said here is a great whiskey (old crow) so I started to puff the cigar and I was blowing the cigar, and he said no no, inhale it, don't blow, he then said take the shot glass and drink it down, which I did, and just shortly after I was throwing up outside the front door, needless to say that was the last I had experienced cigars and whiskey for a long long time, it was years before I attempted it again, in fact not until I joined the army in 1968 and went to Vietnam, I will never forget that for as long as I'm alive, I now as you know drink scotch whiskey, but I don't drink until I'm drunk, anymore, what an awesome experience I had as a child, thanks for the trip down memory lane, and keep up the great reviews, cheers brother !!!

Been drunk more times than i can count. Sorry. Funny. since I have been watching Ralfy, I have really gotten in to scotch. Oddly enough I do not drink but maybe two drams in a sitting watching reviews.Realizing that exploring flavors in whiskeys instead of just shooting them down has really changed the way I drink now. I never thought that I could actually enjoy sitting in my house and exploring how whiskeys can be lovely WITHOUT getting trashed. Thank you Ralfy for passing on your Knowledge and your compassion in your videos. wish you all the best, and hope I get to meet you in person one day. My dream vacation is to one day go to Isle of Man and see the motorcycle races for my birthday. June second during the TT races. That would be so cool. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Thanks for the wisdom Ralfy, I keep a check on my own intake and while I get to that edge on occasion I take regular breaks and monitor my liver and kidney functions with bloodwork. It can creep up on a person when the product is so alluring as Single Malts but must still be kept in check. Thank you for enlightening those who may not see that yet.

It took one bad time being drunk for me to establish limits and stick to them. When I was beginning my third year in college, my roommate and I decided to have a wine tasting with wines we had. Between the two of us there were about 5 or 6 bottles, most of them sweet wines, and from each bottle we poured a full drink's worth. Within around 2 hours I had had 6 drinks, and being the lightweight that I am, it hit me hard. Sure enough, I became nauseated and rushed to the bathroom to be sick. Problem was, I couldn't; nothing would come up. So I'm sitting here over the toilet with horrible nausea and the room spinning. To make matters worse, I'm also a hypochondriac who panics anytime his body does something unusual. Normally I can beat the panic with reasoning, but I was too drunk to think straight, so I ended up freaking out because of the symptoms which only made them worse. I finally started to overcome the panic about 2 hours later, and the nausea subsided an additional 3 or 4 hours later. However, I had had the worst heartburn for a week after that that, and I noticed my stomach was weaker than normal for the next couple of months. It was a long time before I could drink wine of any kind again, and I still can't stomach sweet wines. Thanks to that incident, I now monitor my drinking very closely, because I don't want to experience that ever again.

Sneaky drunk...happened to me many years ago, at a bar with friends. The place was packed...wall-to-wall people. I finished my drink, looked up, and the bar was completely empty except for my group. Hours had gone by; I had no idea. Did I have one drink? Two? Three? No, it was far more than that (according to my friends), but I had no idea. I tried to stand up and fell over. I couldn't feel my face. I had to be practically carried out to our car. I didn't touch alcohol for years after that...the event terrified me. So yes, it happens, especially when you're not paying attention. Thanks, ralfy...great message once again.

In China I had to really watch out for the Baijiu. ABV varies a lot and they like to toast (bottoms up). I eventually had to pass on it and only have low ABV wine. I appreciated your vid on the 7 levels of intoxication. I set a limit years ago of no more than 2 drams in one evening and at least one hour between them with plenty of water.

As much as I love whiskey, I hate being drunk. If I feel a buzz coming on, I call it quits. I don't mind the euphoric feeling, but I HATE the sickness that follows. Good advice for fellow maltmates. We don't go out to have a sinfully, and it's not about the drink but the people we are with, enjoying ourselves. I'm here once chap, not a prequel. Enjoy ourselves, but know our boundaries. You know alot about whisky, but you know alot about life chap. Really enjoyed this.

Great video, most people treat getting drunk like an achievement and laugh about it. One thing that gets me mad is people and TV shows, saying how bad illegal drugs are, people that use them are criminals and the like. The next sentence they joke in about how much they love wine and about how they can't wait to get home to crack open a bottle or have a gin and tonic. Alcohol is a drug weather you like it or not, it's more harmful than illegal drugs if you go by deaths and users. I don't know how government can say getting pished is fine but if you use illegal drugs and feel high you're a criminal. Why do they get to decide what drug us fine and what isn't.... don't get me started on drug testing at work, checking to see if you've been high when you're at home, even though you're sober for work... imagine if they done that with alcohol. Moderation is the key in all cases, anything can be abused.

Good video bro, great reminder to be aware! I was just pondering the interesting fact last night that alcohol is a very rare drug in that it is a stimulant and a depressant... If you are about taste and smell and a little stimulation great, that's the pros, but once you cross the tipping point to it being a suppressant ya gotta be careful, there is very little of fun down that road. I confess,I probably drink a tad more than is reasonable, and if you can recognize that, take a break for a week or two, dry out.. you'll come back with a new appreciation and less will go a long way again :-)

Way, way back in the day I once had to be the "accused's escort" to an RAF airman who was up in front of the Flight Commander on a charge of Drunk and Disorderly Conduct. The charges and details were read out before the Flight Lietentant asked the accused if he had anything to say? The bloke was obviously still a bit wobbly on his legs from the night before but without hesitation he replied in clipped military tones; "Yes sir. I'd like 3,256 other offences to be taken into consideration". I collapsed laughing and was subsequently charged with insubordination and the poor guy got a £50 fine and two weeks confinement to barracks and loss of privileges. What a laugh though.

Just this last Saturday I had 3.5 8% beers and must have got sunstroke along with it because I ended up paralytic on the bathroom floor, throwing up into the toilet. Once I was able crawl to the bathroom door to unlock it my concerned yet amused flatmates helped me to bed but not before one of them took a photo of me unable to get up. Thankfully she is kind enough not to have posted it anywhere, just showed it to a couple of our friends the next day. Kind of an unfair situation since I really didn't drink much.

I've only been downright apocalyptically drunk a few times in my life, and luckily it has generally been OK (if a little confusing) at the time.. Absolute hell the day after, of course. I generally only drink beyond 2 or 3 drams/beers/units if I'm in very good friendly company, so even the times where I've been quite pished, it's been entertaining and most importantly safe (in a physical injury sense, not for my liver obviously). However, I have also on occasion done the "vomit in the sink, run the cold tap, vomit again" thing, which is why I refuse to touch Fernet Branca ever again. But I have to say, I've never gotten to the level of making outright stupid decisions, to me there is no excuse for being an idiot, pished or not. I go to a lot of festivals and concerts, and I do see some people just go completely crazy and nuke themselves. I'd much rather stay at a nice 2-3 beer low-level buzz and just stay at that level by balancing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (and food, important!) accordingly. Shows are so much more fun when you can actually remember them afterwards :-) And I have a strict maximum 2 drams per week limit for whisky I'm drinking by myself for the taste. Since I met my lovely German girlfriend, she's introduced me to radler/shandy, so much better for cooling down on a hot day or when grilling, than drinking straight beer. Don't drink to blast yourself out of your mind, a nice low-level smooth buzz is what you want.

Hello Ralphy from Canada. I love your VLOGS. I was wondering if you would review a whisky called Lochindaal X, or at least tell me what i may expect before i open mine. I purchased it from Prauge. I know Jim McEwan from Bruichladdich makes it, Im excited to uncork it. Thanks

I can't stand hangovers of any sort. Even though quality whisky can minimise the next morning effects, it's years since I've gone over six standard drinks in an evening. A warning light comes on in my head and I'm done!

Sorry Ralfy, I couldn’t help but laugh when you said you got drunk at 4 years old. I was not expecting you to say four years old, and then I thought to myself did he really say four years old or forty years old, then you repeated it and I heard correctly, it was four years old, how crazy...😳😮

Is there ever a time when it’s okay to get drunk? When? Where? Why? What’s A good thing to do when you’re peshed ? Lastly , what’s the best thing to eat and drink, besides H2O after you’ve been drinking?
