"We had 29,000 rats in our distillery." Seems like a weird marketing pitch.

They must have been like “ok that’s it I’m not gonna count all the way to 30.000 just for the OCD of it, 29.000 will have to suffice for marketing, nearly there is more fun anyway”

Hi Ralfy - Thanks for another excellent Whisky review. I just returned from a two week trip to Scotland and had the opportunity to visit the distillery. It would appear there was a change of ownership (I think*) and they did a thorough job to highlight the single malts. The tour was done with integrity and the guide was very thorough - The restaurant was a great place for a bite as well. Hopefully you can make it back again for a visit. Again, thank you for your continued content and keep powering on. Unfortunately, my personal love affair with Single malt whisky here in Canada has taken a hit, as no one can afford a damn bottle here anymore. Cheers Ralfy.

Definitely sounds an interesting dram. I've still not tried Glenturret yet, its on my list but got to admit that over £100 for a 15 year is a bit rediculous.

Just visited last week as a day trip from Edinburgh. Lalique owns it now so there’s a shop full of nice expensive crystal tchashkas as well as a tiny ultra expensive restaurant involved. But overall the atmosphere is mellow, the food is good, and the 14 year old lightly smoked malt is magic. Extremely distinctive. And give Towser a break. You have to have a sense of humor. Life ain’t easy.

Can you please get back to the Glencairn glass? There seems to be a trend for fancy copitas. Nothing beats the good old £6 Glencairn glass.

I too am curious as to why the sudden departure from Glencairns. Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with the copita but still.

@@whompbiscuits8930 I have all kinds of glassware and I always go to the typical old Glencairn. I received Crystal fancy glencairn glasses, I never use them. I always go to the regular £6 glass

I may be dead wrong here but that looks like a very simple ISO Wine tasting glass... it's not even crystal. A Copita isn't that tall. Or maybe is a fancier version of an ISO tasting glass.
@ziadramadan94167 ай бұрын
@@brukuns I don’t care really if its fancy or not. I am just remarking on the new trend of dropping Glencairn glasses for wine glasses or copitas. No idea what is up with that. Anyway to each his own
@matthewbarnable99407 ай бұрын
With Ralfy there’s likely a hidden esoteric meaning to his actions. I suspect he’s switched to copita as a silent statement or protest that only he knows and we are left to guess. Is it a thumbing of the nose to the Scotch Whisky Association who endorse the GC, and Ralfy has been critical of? We will never know…..or will we?

I have the excellent 2023 Release 10 year old peated Glenturret (48.4% ABV / $85.00). In the USA it does state on the back of the box (better if it were on the bottle) that it is natural colour and non-chill filtered. In a very short period of time the new owners have transformed this whisky.

That whisky glass looks much more breakable than a Glen cairn glass . My favourite is the small glass I get on a distillery tour . Less un breakable. Plus it means I drink less! The Glen turret was the famous grouse experience distillery not so many years ago, as you mentioned. The large copper grouse they had at the distillery is now by the main gate at Drumchapel Edrington bottling plant . Near where I live . Great video Ralfy . Glen turret whisky is too expensive for me. They have priced me out of being a customer.

I can assure you Ralfy, the distillery experience is far more rewarding than your disappointment back in 2005. I was there only a couple of weeks ago for the basic tour and dram, which is only £18 with 10% off any bottle purchases. Lovely small distillery with well informed staff, no famous Grouse, it was all about Glenturret but they still tell the story of the record breaking mouser! If your budget stretches to a two star Michelin dinner, then that's also an option in their restaurant... 🥃👍
