@davivman6009 Жыл бұрын
With more and more people choosing to consume their media in a digital only manner, it is critical to vote with your wallet if physical media is important to you. That means not always waiting for clearance prices or second hand copies which is easier said than done. I usually wait for deep discounts before buying physical media because I want to get more bang for my buck. But if most consumers of physical media act that way in a continually shrinking market, publishers will find less of a reason to actually print the media that we want.

I tried to play Alan Wake 1, 2010 on 360. I really don't understand the hype it gets. Can you please tell what is so special about the game ? Player is in a dark no contrast forest without no visibility shooting same shadow enemies and cheap jump scares all over. Limited weapons and ammo. There is no real clear plot like in any Stephen King movies. Movies example: The Langoliers 1995. Resident Evil 2 from 1998 is a lot better. I would say Doom 1 from 1993 is better than Alan Wake 1. It is very overrated.
@damonke7911 ай бұрын
@@pekkahollola7646 First of all...I would argue that there wasn't really any hype for the first Alan Wake. It was a solid title with a solid narrative but just okay gameplay. It didn't sell very well and had a small audience that really liked the game. Comparing it to Resident Evil 2 is stupid because RE2 is an all time great....and Doom is a completely different type of game. Comparing a third person horror game to a first person shooter? Why? Alan Wake, however, became much more popular when Control tied that universe and the Alan Wake universe together. Control was an incredible game and people began to wonder what a new Alan Wake could be. So there WAS a good amount of hype for Alan Wake II and I think a lot of that had to do with Control more than it did the first Alan Wake
@pekkahollola764611 ай бұрын
@@damonke79 Alan Wake 1 (2010) tries to be and is too a third-person shooter TPS similar as RE2 and GTAV. Shooters are same be it TPS or FPS. You literally 100% of time have to shoot in this game but with very limited weapon selection (mainly pistol, shotgun). There is no deep free adventure in the game just cheap jump scares. Levels are pipe runs. I did not like Control-game it brought nothing new it felt like 3Dmark tech demo. Max Payne 1 (2001) and Death rally 1 (1996) are the only games of Remedy that I like. Control (2019) was too over hyped they offered it free in multiple associations I got it free when I bought a RTX graphic card.

Well said, guys. I am a huge proponent for physical and it's now at the point where although I did in the past, I won't buy anything digital. Alan wake 2 being digital only is mind-boggling. Something tells me when Best Buy, Walmart and others stop selling physical media prices are just bound to go up for both physical and digital. Here’s a little tidbit from my own experience recently. Every year around this time I buy dvds from Best Buy that are on sale. This year I picked up a few Warner Bros pictures that had expired digital codes and WB refused to give me a new code. I’ve never experienced that before and every other studio I have dealt with still helps out with issues like this. In my opinion WB is battening down the hatches because they know digital will be the way they can raise revenue in the future by increasing prices to consumers and perhaps banning ownership altogether.

I think its more important for video games then it is for films imo. Alot of people now seem to want an all digital gaming future which I find stupid because if that happens the second hand market will be dead and companies will have more control over how their games are bought and how we play them. If you play only on PlayStation you will then only have one place you can get your games which is the ps Store meaning sony can do whatever they want because they have no real competition on how people get their games same with xbox. Now you could say "Well Ill just play on PC" true there is more ways to get games on their but what if a company only wants their game sold on just one store? Games are $70 now with many people saying it is okay but I guarantee if the pre-owned market was as big as it was 10 years ago games will still be $60. Why? Because these big game companies would be competing with the second hand market which was a huge chunk of the gaming market That includes second hand stores,Flee markets,Garage Sales,Pawn Shops and people just wanting to sell off their games. Meaning all of us the consumers were also their biggest competition. If we go all digital game prices will increase because that market that we once had will be gone and gaming will become a very costly hobby to get into blocking access for many people who just wont be able to afford it. I wouldn't be surprised if games start costing $100 one day and im sure they will be less complete on launch. That was another thing great about physical when it was the dominant way of playing games it forced devs to release games complete. We dont need to loose our control over our hobby the second hand market still exists for now. Just keep all this in mind and maybe go out to a flee market or to a garage sale and see what you find you might find somthing real cheap. Physical doesnt have to die we can still have both

I've unsubbed from everything but Netflix and Apple tv as those are the only services with acceptable quality. But even then there's still some content on Netflix that is low bit rate and looks terrible. Even regular blu rays look better than most 4k streamed content. Sound is on another level entirely. Happy to get away from it at this point when all the content is divided between 10 different streaming services and they're all getting more expensive. Why pay $70 a month for streaming bad quality movies when I can just get premium blu ray quality and actually own movies? No better time for people to kick streaming and start buying physical media again. I really hope it makes a come back. I find it hard to believe people would rather sub to 10 different platforms then to just buy stuff. You guys make a valid point. An underrated game came out last year that I wanted to play, Evil West, actually looked like an old school linear shooter. I went to 3 of my local Game Stops 2 weeks after it came out, and not one of them had a copy, new or used. I always kept looking on Amazon Ebay and FB Marketplace, and all copies were either imports from other countries that charged an arm-and-a-leg or American sellers that out priced the crap out of this game. Couple of months ago I was on my PS4 and they had a deal, from $60 down to $45. Eventually I caved and bought the thing digitally. Don't get me wrong it is a fun interesting creative game that reminds me of older shooters, but I agree with you Robert...owning a physical copy has a certain vibe and feel to it that can't be replaced with something that you can hold in your hand and that can't be destroyed, or in this case, deleted.

But but but... It's too difficult for me to move my fat ass over to the console to change the game disc. I have heard so many ppl said. 😂

People also need to take care of their physical media too. Especially now that ANYTHING physical has a big price tag on it or is discontinued. There's been loads of games and vinyl records that I skipped because of it.

Physical media is dead. I could care less too. Streaming music, movies is 1000x better. Downloading my games to my series X is way more convenient

I try to get as many physical copies of PS Vita games as possible. Unfortunately, a good chunk of its library is digital only. That's why I haven't gotten around to playing with the PS5 or Steam for the time being.

I saw an interview on ign this morning a movie producer talking about this digital only

In years prior, I was a huge proponent for digital. The thought of being able to have instant access to media was super enticing. I thought the quality would be far better watching digital movies and music. (I know lossless is a thing). Now with steaming quality getting better and better, NOTHING COMPAIRS TO WATCHING A 4K BLU-RAY. I was blown away seeing the actual difference. Because of this, I've swayed back to collecting physical. Keep up the fight boys!

They stream at most 1080 just to keep the internet banwidth constant. If it's 4k, imagine seeing slow fps.

It’s great that you continue to bring this stuff up. An example I have is my favourite movie The Warriors, around 2005 they released a directors cut, with a new intro and corny comic style transitions between chapters. It’s currently the only version available on new dvd’s, blu ray and paramount plus, the only way you can watch the original version is on the first print dvd from around 2001. The game adaptation also got screwed, a bunch of music got removed from the soundtrack on digital PS3/PS4 copies, one of them being the end credits theme to the movie itself. Even though I bought it on PS3 before they got removed, i realised they were also gone for me when I replaced my old PS3 and downloaded it again. Good thing I still have the OG Xbox copy. The GTA games are notorious for having removed music too, I have multiple physical copies of all those games on all consoles and backups on PC. I refuse to play my all time favourite games without all the original content, especially when they’re owned by a multi billion dollar company like Rockstar. It’s just cheap and scummy in my opinion.

These digital game stores are a monopoly, keeping games at full, or close to full price years after release. Nah. I'll continue to buy physical new and used, thanks.

Alan Wake 2 is a phenomenal game and for it to be only digital can ONLY hurt it's sales. Hopefully this is a wake-up call to say "we are not ready for this shit yet!" Cheers boys, love these videos 🍺🍺

Hey guy‘s, i think the same way like you. Here in Germany the physical games are pretty rare in stores. That makes me sad. I hope, that the gaming industrie don‘t let the physical games die. I love your channel, keep it up 💪 Many greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 🇺🇸 🎮

I never here anyone talk about it either and it pisses me off. It also sucks that only the first 2 seasons got a physical release. Epic show!

Seriously important stuff! I just purchased a PS4 Pro for the first time just because physical media on the PS4 is available and it often times doesn't require an internet connection! I freakin loved Halt and Catch Fire!! Awesome show!

It’s instinctive to physically own our possessions, that’s a sensation that is impossible to replicate.

What about GOG's method of distrubution? No disc (Cost to print & future waste) & no login for access after downloading. You get the file & do what what you want with it.

Preach on brothers! Another example is years ago Amazon deleting ebooks from everyone’s kindle after they had purchased it. I think they did at least give a refund when that happened. Also I love Halt and Catch Fire, such an underrated show!

I'm a late bloomer in life. I used to dream of travelling to get new games. Now I can drive, they're getting rid of it, which kinda deflates my bubble. Online finds are great, but there is nothing like physical questing for it, and finding it.

I heard about Digital Feudalism from a KZbin video a while back. It essentially means that similar to farmers in the middle ages that never actually own the land they work with, consumers in the digital landscape never actually own media they consume. This goes for software too, like how Adobe went from one-time purchase to a subscription model in 2013. I don't want everything I use to just burrowed and being at the mercy of what whoever owns it decides to do.
