Ralphie sealed his fate right here. Accept the boss' drink, break the ice a bit with some jokes, put on an act. But that whole gloomy demeanor And refusing the drink just oozes insubordination, and Tony was already paranoid enough as it was. Ralph should've known better.

But everyone in Tony's crew knew what Tony had done was wrong. You don't hit a made guy. Tracce wasn't related to Tony. And she wasn't Tony's girlfriend. Tracce was a whore, and therefore expendable. Even Sil pointed this out to Tony. Sil told Tony "You have to make nice with Ralph. Or settle it another way." Don't forget that other members of Tony's crew also talked about how wrong Tony's actions were. But they didn't say it out loud.

Even using Tracee as a reason wouldn't have been difficult (she was employed at the Bing and owed Sil money, and therefore under the Sopranos' protection)

One of the interesting aspects of this scene is that it doesn't seem so consequential on the surface. Tony offers Ralph a drink, Ralph says "another time", Tony agrees. No biggie, right? But if you know what led up to this scene and you know the aftermath and the context of what it means to refuse hospitality offered by the boss considering what came before, Ralph made a bad situation worse.

Milat McKenzie I think GiGi had to go a little extra distance to prove his loyalty to T, because he defected over from Jr.’s crew after the war in season 1. I imagine if I were GiGi I would expect Tony to be cautious of and not fully trust me, so a little sucking up might’ve been the right way for him to go

But I honestly feel like the scene makes fun of that overdramatized situation where two grown up men act like "too soon to look each other in the eye again", especially Ralphie with his drama-queen response "not the time". Tony at least had a good reason with the death of Tracey, but Ralphie? Drama-queen response with his "not the time, Tony." combined with that funny version of ghost riders in the sky... Sometimes I feel that Ralph's entire character was to show how important money was to the mafia. Plenty of people were killed for MUCH MUCH less. The only reason that Ralph was spared, time and time again, was because he made a ton of money for the family. Eventually, he crossed Tony in a way that was naked and unmistakable. Had he kept his disagreements and disdain for Tony low-key, he probably would have been allowed to continue as he had.

I think, Ralph is a embodiment of Tony's dark and brutal nature. Ralph does not cheat himself about being "good", he is bad, he lives in the dark, he embraces it. Ralph destroys and breaks others lives, especially women, just like Tony's did but without remorse. That's why he is efficient criminal, always with cash, gambling luck etc.

The rise and fall of Ralph was a great story arc in The Sopranos. Phil Leotardo was the best but Ralph was excellent as well. Tony B. was the saddest. Feech was the cleanest, quickest break. And Feech got lucky. He only had to go back to jail.

People look on them setting up and informing on Feech as a complete betrayal. No. It was a "lesser of two evils" situation. Feech was going to be whacked otherwise.

I finish watching The Sopranos for the first time two weeks ago. I just wanna say I miss the show a lot, specially Tony and his family. It is weird but something is missing. The fact Jimmy Gandolfini is not with us anymore turn things even worst.

I have seen this many times, but only now did I notice that the background music starts with "Rag Doll", but then changes to "Ghostriders In The Sky". Genius. So perfectly crafted it's scary.
