I don't actually think the pop song in La La Land was meant to be "shitty," I think it was meant to be a song that wasn't what *Ryan Gosling* wanted to do. That's what's great about La La Land - it's much more emotionally complicated than what most movies would do given the same story. Most movies they wind up together at the end just fine, whereas La La Land goes in a totally different direction. Similarly, most movies would make the band Gosling's in obviously suck so that there'd be a clear disconnect between his artistic ambitions and the shitty pop he's actually making. La La Land, by contrast, has him making *good pop music* but it's still not what he wants to be doing. That's much more complex than having it be shit.
@wokieleaks69297 жыл бұрын
I mean, surely if you wanted to imply the music was shitty, they wouldn't have gotten John Legend to sing for it. you could have any hack sing it if you wanted to imply it was bad.

I think that’s generally true but 2020 is a year where I can actually say that there was so little that the world of film had to offer, in terms of indie and studio productions. Usually there are years where smaller art house films really shine and Hollywood films are terrible, which is the way I felt about 2016, which was a terrible year for big studio films. But yeah, 2020 was pretty awful when it came to films but we did get Tenet and I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

42:00 I didn't expect you to know this ralph, but I just thought I'd let you know that a moon base would actually have a ton of benefits if we cared at all about space exploration. Less gravity means we can construct and launch crafts from the moon with less fuel than is necessary to launch from Earth due to the reduced gravity. We could construct really great space telescopes to image things without any atmosphere to worry about. We can run experiments to see the possibility of terraforming or farming on other planets. We can see how lower gravity (but not 0G like on spaceships) can affect humans and how to better prevent against bone density loss. The list goes on. It's still a very real thing that nasa seriously debates every couple of years. The main problem is cost but there are many benefits.

... LOL I learned a lesson from Rouge One: when you have characters that only shows up in prequels, and you cannot have them in the future movies, you blow them up! If people still asking where are their bodies, you blow the whole planet up!
@dragonbreath99577 жыл бұрын
Leonard Li Winchester That bothers me about prequel stories. Even the Force Unleashed did it. Why can't the characters just be out somewhere in the huge Star Wars universe? There's a single planet for each ecosystem and most of them are desert or forest and you're telling me Starkiller and Jyn Erso can't be hanging out on one of them?!

Well the whole movie expected you to know they were going to die, its called dramatic irony. That was kind of the wolde point of the movie so im not really sure what you are trying to get at here. Maybe you missed the point? Like im not defending the movie i thought itvwas average but you seem like someone who interprets things like a child
@RyanKaufman7 жыл бұрын
That's why Rogue One and all closely related Star Wars movies are retarded. Because you either carry on with the original cast, or you can do VERY little with new characters. Either they just fell out of the woodwork and it's stupid as fuck - Snoke - or you kill them off like everyone in Rogue One. You know, the galaxy is huge. We don't ever go into the Mandalorians, or the Outer Rim as a whole for that matter. You know how much fun a scifi Star Wars fan could have? "Take a bunch of planets, you can make them however cool or weird or desolate you want, just make a cool story and involve Star Wars shit" Awesome man. We can explore some grey jedi (because apparently exploring the jedi with characters we already know makes people scream and pout and riot that the movie sucks like in Ep. 8) we can explore some cool alien races we either don't see often or haven't seen at all, we can just run with the opportunity. Or keep making human-first prequels where characters do nothing but die or we explore the "history" behind character that don't matter until their moments in the main films so their history means nothing anyway. The only proper character that deserves some historical backing is Obi-Wan, because he was in almost every original film. He has room for more background. Han Solo is cool but where was he in 1-3? Probably not born yet for 1, maybe even 2 or he might be a baby. Then he's a little kid in 3. Woohoo. But hey, here's the Han Solo story! Because there is no creativity, all the creativity we had went into little bits of Episode 8 and the fans hated it so never again. Back to "GOOD GUY BLUE SABUR VS. BAD GUY RED SEBUR"

Producer 2: "Yeah uh-uh yup." Producer 1: "Well how about instead of making a compelling story and interesting non-cliche characters, we do the opposite of that and have Godzilla save the country?" Producer 2: "Oh yeah, that's just great, Danny. Good work. That's the way to entertain the kiddies, make a PG-13 marketable blockbuster piece of trash where Godzilla doesn't destroy everything and the civilians thank him and let him go free."

Moonrise Kingdom is a quirky, cute film. It's aesthetically pleasing, the acting is really good, and the transition between shots are practically flawless. I haven't met a person who doesn't like it, everyone I know who's seen it thinks it's either a good film, or a fantastic film. It's about two twelve year olds who are outcasts in their life, and they fall in love with each other and run away together. The Intouchables (yes, Intouchables) is a gorgeous foreign film about a man looking after a rich person paralysed from the neck down. It's cute, and very funny. Every time I watch it my cheeks hurt from smiling. Every other happy film I think of are actually kind've sad. But I'll list em down anyway if you're interested: The Royal Tenenbaums, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, and Mary and Max. Hope you enjoy any of the films people suggested to you, and I hope you have a good day!

I watched *_Captain America: Civil War_* and forgot it pretty much as soon as I turned it off. It just seemed like yet another superhero movie in an age where three or four come out every year and they all blend together for me. *_Gods of Egypt_* was shockingly bad, but just barely dipping into "so bad it's good" territory. It looked like the kind of movie Ed Wood would have made if he had access to Blender and Adobe After Effects. *_Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice_* was probably the worst mainstream movie I saw in 2016, even worse than I thought it would be. The plot made no sense and the directing decisions made me want to punch Zack Snyder in the face. I forgot the names of all the characters in *_Rogue One_* the very second the movie ended and it left no lasting impression on me. The *_Ghostbusters_* reboot wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but that was mostly because my expectations were so low that it couldn't have possibly failed to surpass them. It was still awful. I really don't understand why so many people are praising *_Deadpool_*. Outside of the fact that it's rated R, I don't see how it's any different than any other cookie-cutter superhero movie other than it tries _way_ too hard to be funny, to the extent that it reminded me of _Ghostbusters_.
