Today, the 2019 Ram goes in for a set of 285/65R20 BFG T/A KO2 tires to compliment the leveling kit. Of course, in typical Tony fashion, there's a few hiccups along the way.

Couple things. They didn’t remove the old stick on wheel weights tape that’s left on removal. There is a tool ( I know Myers tire supply has) that does a great job of removing the left on tape without hurting the wheel. They also have black stick on weights. They “ disappear” on wheels like yours. Last, had they recorded ALL dot #s, they would have known right away they had an issue the first time. Mis labeling is a fact of life unfortunately. Didn’t use to be that way, but since a lot tires get labeled at the warehouse instead of the factory now, it happens.

Can you compare road noise from the Goodyear’s and the KO2s? Also do you think having the full factory wheel well liners would cause any clearance issues?
@TonyTheTruckGuy
@TonyTheTruckGuy 4 жыл бұрын
Wheel liners in the rear shouldn’t be an issue at all. I’m actually going to be getting some. The road noise is comparable, but I think slightly louder with the Duratrac. Still nowhere near mud terrain sound level, though. I think either tire is a great choice. I’ll know more once I see how the BFG does in snow. - EDIT: After running both through all seasons, I can say that they both wear well. The Duratrac is slightly louder, but it also comes with more tread, and does a bit better in snow and mud.

Hey tony- What about regearing the truck? Do you think it’s something that should be done with going with bigger tires n rims? Currently have 275/65/18. Want to go to 275/60/20. Trying to stay close to stock size with going a little bigger…?????
@TonyTheTruckGuy
@TonyTheTruckGuy 2 жыл бұрын
275/60R20 is the stock tire size from the previous generation Ram and only 1” taller from your current size so I probably my wouldn’t regear for that. I ordered my truck with factory 3.92 gears so it wasn’t an issue for me going with a bigger and heavier tire. But even if you have 3.55 or 3.21 I probably wouldn’t bother until you get to 35’s

@TonyTheTruckGuy
@TonyTheTruckGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they have deeper tread than the stock tires so deeper water shouldn’t be an issue. They just don’t have quite as much wet road traction maybe because of their aggressiveness. They are good in snow for an all terrain and you should get 50k miles if you drive decent

@@Tc-ev9dd Toyos are good tires as well, but in my opinion, the BFG is the 2nd best all terrain for snow right behind the Goodyear Duratrac. I’ve owned multiple sets of both tires. The Duratrac is slightly better in snow and mud but the BFG is a bit quieter and feel a bit more solid while towing.

This one was actually 3.92 ratio. If you compared these to bone stock tires, stock would be faster, but considering the size and weight difference, it’s not a huge change. You’d be less likely to go into 4 cylinder in eco mode, though.

@TonyTheTruckGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Well your current size is basically a 32"x11" tire. I had a set of 275/60R20 which are basically 33"x11" without a level and I was fine. You MIGHT be able to get a 275/65R20 in there which is like a 34"x11" but it's going to be close without a level. As you can tell by the video here, my main issue was the OEM mud flaps. If you don't have those, you can get away with a little bit bigger tire. But I wouldn't even think about trying to run a 33x12.5 or 35x12.5 without a level because they're so wide so you have to space the wheel out to prevent control arm rubbing, etc, but then you rub on the fenders and such unless the front end is high enough. Stick with something 11" wide or narrower and 34" tall or less and you should be good.

Definitely more stiff than the load D Duratracs I had and passenger load range stock tires but the truck itself rides pretty good for a truck so it wasn’t awful. Mine was even more stiff because I had aftermarket towing air bags in the rear that would bottom out on moderate to large bumps.

Hey Tony, thanks for the quick response! The question comes from what I have read on a few forums. They would then have to go to the stealership and have the truck factory flashed. Not sure why.
@TonyTheTruckGuy

@@anthonyazzara4395 Hmmm. I wonder if they mean ABS not tire sensors. I had a similar thing happen to me last week when I was using AlfaOBD to calibrate the speedo on my 2021 Jeep. It calibrated the speedo but triggered the ABS light, so I had to reset the ABS ECU and clear the faults, then it was fixed. Did all that with AlfaOBD which is about $50 then downloaded it to my laptop. I didn’t have any issue like that when changing the tire size on my Ram, but it might depend on what year you have. My 2019 also had no issues with interior LED lights or LED 3rd brake light, but guys with 2021 and newer say it causes issues with LEDs. Well first off, I'm not triggered at all, I just recognized your name from other videos and found it hilarious that you follow me just to complain. Which is fine with me, because more comments help the video. I guess I didn't realize that 30 years old was a kid, and I guess I didn't realize that wrenching for a living wasn't a real job. Have a good day!

Right? 🤦‍♂️ Been going to this specific discount for well over a decade and they’re usually pretty good, but I understand good help is hard to find in this market lol.
