RAM 1500 6.4 HEMI VS HiLux VS AMAROK // who took the cake?

We took a single cab RAM1500 short wheel, did a 6.4 HEMI transplant with the legendary 8 speed box & decided to go play.....it just so happened a Toyota HiLux & a VW Amarok came by and challenged us.

Wish we could get right hand drive ones in the UK. Have a Hilux on order but would definitely get a Ram. My cousin has an lhd but just not practical.

I have a question.. I have a 2018 ram 1500 4x4 sport crew cab 5.7. Unfortunately my engine decided to blow up @47,000 miles.. meaning you could put two good size fist in the side of the passenger side 8 cylinder block area...omg! So therefore I have decided to dump in a crate motor 6.4 . I'm pretty sure you said you guys put the Jeep 6.4 and which I've heard has more horsepower than the standard 6.4 truck engine so I'm assuming it's the same bolting platform. I also think I heard you say you couldn't use the 6.4 intake and that you decided to stay with the 5.7 is that due to computer issues? And I also would have to get a unlocked pcm? Any other surprises I should know about LOL thank you in advance I'm also from the states Oregon.

Hey. Yes pretty much stuck to the 5.7 intake due to the layout of the timing cover etc and where the alternator etc is on the Ram. So you will build over all the bits from your Ram engine to the 6.4. It will be the sump, oil pickup, timing cover, intake and all the stuff like starter, aircon, powersteering and alternator. So you pretty much need the 6.4 block. Then it will even start up with the original PCM. HP tuners can supply unlocked PCM. We have installed the 6.4 before with the Jeep engine layout and retained the Jeep intake, alternator etc except sump and in theory thats better because you have more performance in Jeep intake but you also need all the Jeep bits like alternator, pumps etc so it makes the conversion more expensive. Also then need to move fuse box and battery to other side of truck and do a small mod to frame to clear alternator, so its more expensive and way more work.
