@@keylimepie210 haha. Yeah if only. I’ve brought one through GM Special Vehicles. They import new LTZ’s with the Z71 package and convert them to RHD in Australia before shipping to NZ. When I looked at Chevy’s cost builder website, converted the currency, paid shipping + GST and conversion, it cost $5k more to buy from GMSV. I imported a new UK caravan just before lockdown. That put me off importing anything again. Seemed like I was getting invoices off multiple shipping companies who won’t release it till you pay. Other problem is if you import new yourself good luck returning it for any warranty claim. Down here at the bottom of the globe ya just have to pay the money.
@NZsarge13 жыл бұрын
I don’t think if the Chev was the High Country model it would’ve changed things much, the LTZ is reasonably high spec, the Ram is impressive in interior and ride refinement and looks good. I however prefer the Silverado’s massive chrome presence, it just seems to suit full size American truck in my mind but each to their own for sure, if one preferred the Ram I wouldn’t have the slightest issue with that. Will be interesting to see the refresh of the Silverado when it finally hits, it was supposed to have already debuted in the U.S. but they’ve put it back sighting the computer chip shortage. Chevy will certainly need to step up their interior game to remain ultra competitive, Ford have just upped their game with the F150 in their new release. Thanks for doing this comparison, been looking out for it on Australasian soil. 👍🏼

Why the low payloads?
@PatrickRich3 жыл бұрын
Different methodologies in rating and different ride/payload priorities. As a reference, the t6 ranger we have in the us is rated around 720 to 840kg here and it's very high for it's segment. I would guess that if they were treated natively they would be in the 1 to 1.5t category. There are versions of a 4x4 4 door silverado rated to tow 13,300 lbs (6t) and that's with a tongue weight of 10% per the towing standard they are required to meet (j2807). The hardware is up to the task, it's just how is rated
