RAM 1500 Cabin Air Filter Replacement (Super EASY) And Location

I show you the location of your cabin air filter and how to quickly and easily replace the cabin air filter in your 2017 Ram 1500. This procedure can be done with any 2009 - 2019 4th gen Dodge Ram 1500 trucks as they have the same blower motors. I would make sure to check your cabin air filter at least twice a year to make sure it is clean and flowing well. If you are in dusty conditions frequently i would check more often. Having a plugged cabin air filter can result in poor cab air circulation and put more strain on your blower motor. Anybody can tackle this easy DIY job, it requires no tools and it is an easy way to save some money by doing it yourself! I hope this helps everybody watching.

Okay for anyone who has been experiencing a musty damp type smell you cannot get rid of with air fresheners, try replacing the cabin filter. I used the $27 one with Febreeze effect and what a magnificent difference. I bought my 1500 used from a dealer and they never changed the cabin air filter. Instead they put in 5 air freshener wafers under the seats that smelled like a Guido from NYC...lol.

I love KZbin mechanics how to channels like this. They have singlehandedly saved me thousands just in what you would pay for "labor" at a shop as you can see this cabin airfilter install wasn't worth 100$ the video was almost 6 minutes 2 of those minutes was the commentary in the beginning a total of 4 minutes to install the shop would've charged you parts and 1 hours worth of labor.

Good vid, just didn't have same setup on my 2015. Anyone else with the same setup that doesn't have the door from the factory you can cut out the area with a oscillating tool and add a door.

Worked great, only thing was that the pull-back string is spring loaded so I had to hold it pulled out while replacing the glove box so it would not get pulled out of reach.

Off topic but is there a way to replace the rear cabin vents from inside the cab on a 2014 1500? I had the seats and sound barrier removed but couldn't get it out. Is it possible or do I have to remove the bed and replace it from the exterior?

I watched this video and subd. I found a google page specific to my 2016 in the 4th Gen., which stated my year already had the door. It did not. I had already ordered the Fram. On to finding this part # for the cabin air filter door.

Thank you! I was told I would have to cut the plastic housing since Dodge don't worry about it unless you wanted to pay them for a Retrofit. The shops $100 $80 labor and $20 parts, ridiculous. I will have to check my cabin filter now

My 2016 1500 Laramie doesn't have tabs on the side of three air filter. Been looking at other videos and I'm seeing that they are using a blade to cut at that seam and then replace it. 🤷‍♀️ Seems weird to me!

Not all 1500 have the cabin filter. Mine is a 2015 SLT and where the filter goes is sealed off. You can cut through the plastic and mod it though.

I don't have that cover and I cannot find it in that location. In addition, I don't see the filter housing in that location. All I have is a void there with no filter attached. Any alternatives, maybe?

I'm going to change the one in my wife's ram and noticed that the fan makes a squeaky sound, would the cabin filter have anything to do with that?

No is shouldn't, odds are the blower motor is starting to fail or something got inside it and the blades are hitting it.

2015 Dodge Laramie 1500 doesn’t have one😢. Former owners smoked weed and talk about stink when AC is turned on🤢. My son was pulled out of class in high school due to the dog drug sniffers zeroed on his truck.

Mines a 2016 Ram 1500....made the mistake of not taking a peak behind the glove box before i bought the filter....and there's no door. I just blew 25 bucks.

Not $25 blown. Take a box cutter with a sharp blade and cut open the spot. Insert filter. You'll also need to purchase the cover that goes over the gap you've created. I'm searching for a kit right now that includes that cover and a filter. Slightly miffed that I have a Limited that doesn't even include a filter and cover. I gotta do a slight mod for something that should be standard.

The importance of the cabin air filter is that if you don't filter that air, your evaporator core will....and when it gets clogged up, you won't flow as much air in your HVAC system.

Yup, it takes 2 seconds to do this and they probably charge .5 hours or something at 120/hr. and not to mention the massive mark ups on air filters.
