Ram 1500 Exhaust Flange Repair

I had sometime today to fix my 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Tradesman. She was starting to finally sound like a real truck again, but unfortunately it probably won’t pass inspection. In this video I’ll show you my way to repair a broken exhaust flange bolt.

Amazing, this just happen to mine a couple of weeks ago. 2019 ram Thanks for the video. need to find a video for taking the bolt out. Dealership wants $400.

I’m kicking myself for not shooting that part. I will when I do the second one. My suggestion is heat the bolt up so you can either snap the head off or the bolt comes out. If not, once the head comes off, cut the threaded side off as close to the flange as you can. Then use a center punch to create a small dimple in the center of the cut bolt. Start with a small bit, and work your way up to a size that doesn’t damage the thread flange, but reduces the wall size of the bolt. Then use a chisel to collapse the wall of the bolt inward. After you get the bolt out, then just retap the threads.
