We test drove and almost purchased a Titan Pro-4x back in 2017 but we couldn’t order the truck in the configuration we wanted. It was something to do with Pro-4x and tow package / trailer brake controller / 6 seats not 5 seat option. We ended up with an F150 exactly as we wanted BUT the Titan was definitely an under rated truck as far as ride comfort and quality. And with current gas prices I don’t regret having auto S/S.

It's totally normal now to say..." this Truck/SUV costs $60K, $70K, $80K plus.." To those younger than say 20-25 (plus or minus)...it's hard to believe but these used to be the least expensive vehicles to buy....and this is why. "It boils down to this: Americans are in love with trucks and are willing to pay more - a lot more - for pickups than for cars; and this willingness has grown in recent years. This has led to the phenomenon where profit margins for automakers are huge on pickups but slim on cars. Ford proudly points this out at every earnings call, as it emphasizes how it’s selling ever more high-profit-margin “trucks.” Other automakers are doing the same thing. And this willingness by normally astute American consumers to pay so much for trucks and allow the manufacturer to make such FAT PROFIT MARGINS is fairly rare for a mass-produced high-volume item (the iPhone is another example)."

I have a ‘21 Titan Pro4x and was able to address the problem areas addressed in this video with some simple mods: 1. I replaced the overly stiff Bilstein shocks with a full Fox 2.0 suspension. It gave me 2” of front lift (helps the poor approach angle) and rides soo much better on road and off. I added some SPC upper control arms to correct the alignment as well. Cost: $1600. 2. I swapped the 275/70-18 General Grabbers for some 295/70-18 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts. Not only am I now on a 34.5” tire, but the MTs grip so much better in all conditions.

Every time I watch TFL videos on trucks, I'm amazed at how little they know about the trucks they are testing. Even more amazed that they are not very knowledgeable about basic mechanical functions. It's like they went to Starbucks and got Subaru drivers to do off road tests. For example, he barely bumped the steel P4X skid plate and stopped, yet he drug the plastic lip on the RAM and kept going. Also, all Titans have open diffs with ABLS and the P4X has the e-locker. Ram has a traditional LSD, so of course it' going to work better without the P4X's locker being turned on. He didn't even mention that.

Since these are long term test trucks, you guys should do your tests to the trucks in stock form then at some point put 2-3 inch lifts on them and upgrade the tires to the same larger size and tread pattern. After that redo the tests - towing, off road, efficiency, etc.

Would have gotten the backcountry ram but they took to long to bring it to market unfortunately. But super happy with my 21 Silverado LT after lifting it and putting bigger tires and smaller wheels on it! 2.7 is great!

This biggest issue with all these trucks is the absolutely ridiculous price tag associated with them.

I love the pro 4x titans. I wish they made the half ton with more towing capacity. Interior is pretty nice to but definitely time to upgrade the screen to match the competition.

Since you guys own these ones, can you guys take off the side steps? Curious to see how much better they would be without them. The Titan is the most underrated full size out there. I'm sure with how much the air dam bothers you guys (understandably so), that will be coming off as well.

Glad to see this video, especially knowing it's long term, always liked the look of the Nissan but not sure about its long jevity. I've had Ram's (4) & they always gave me major problems so I'll stay away from those. Thanks for doing what you do. Entertaining & educational.

I have a 13 Titan. 98,000 miles. Tows the boat most wknds. Has towed a few cars several times. Never given me any trouble. Not a ton of miles but so far so good. I’m going to try and avoid the new truck bug and possibly take it to 200k.

Very helpful video TFLoffRoad! I want to get this Backcountry and switch out the tires to the same ones on the Rebel which are Wrangler DuarTrack 275/70R18 but they bigger than the Falcon's 275/65r18, do you think that will be fine without rubbing?

If you have a back country ram & off road it you'd do well to get the badlands package which is a premier aftermarket package that can be added to most tam 1500s it's arguably one of the best aftermarket ram package available especially added to the Backcountry I'd advise anyone with a ram to check it out I was very sceptical before seeing it it's a great configuration

I see Titans everywhere here in Texas. Nissan may concentrate on select markets. They really have had a quality truck for a while but they just don't concentrate hardly marketing for it. What i also like is that unlike the big 3, Titans in a sense are more American than American mfrs as they have their mfg plants in Mexico where as the Titan and Tundra are based in the US

I could be wrong but I believe both have the same parent company Nissan was owned by Renault at 1 time which explains Dana rear & Bilstein shocks etc & the new frontier is like a modern day Dakota Nissan definitely upped their game to be able to compete with ram in full size segmant & compete with Toyota in the midsize where previously they were arguably outclassed I'm currently considering a frontier pro 4X & adding some nismo mods as it seems both tough & comfortable thank you tfl you guys provide us with the very best info & comparisons if you're a truck guy or in the market for a truck tfl will give you the best non partial facts
