This comment is to peacefully protest the gatekeeping of RD’s lectures. Common complaints as clarified by the community on the Ram Dass subreddit are as follows. Removal of content, privatizing/licensing out content, copyright striking others who post content without replacing what was removed or providing another means to access the content. Restriction of what is released, cutting and editing pieces of full lectures and not releasing the full lectures themselves. Putting a paywall in place that provides access to still limited content. Access to content is overall severely limited compared to just a year or two ago.
@OrcintheBasement Жыл бұрын
You’ve been asked multiple times to stop representing yourself as speaking for the sub Reddit Your misunderstanding and refusal to acknowledge the fact that the foundation is operating at a loss and NEEDS to monetize theses lectures betrays your supposed peaceful protest You don’t care about ppl being able to have access to RD’s works, you care about you personally having your favorite videos at your fingertips. You’re supposed to give up the guru not create division within the community
@JaiSriRam1777 Жыл бұрын
@@OrcintheBasement Go re read the subreddit. The overwhelming majority of the highly liked post states similar concerns, with only a couple of people agreeing with your line of reasoning.
@OrcintheBasement Жыл бұрын
@@JaiSriRam1777 I was apart of the original post where you brought this idea up. the majority of the people explained to you then, why the paywall is necessary. It doesn’t matter if you agree with the reasons it’s the reality of the situation A point I made again here, that you STILL ignore, so I’ll re-state so it’s obvious the true intent behind your comments: the foundation is losing money yearly. The paywall is necessary to try and make sure it continues into the future. What would you rather them do? Shut down and never post ram dass content again? There are thousands of hours of free lectures and recording of RD available through podcasts, through audio books, through KZbin, through Spotify, etc You have lost ZERO access to ram dass content. The only thing you’ve lost access too is a SPECIFIC video uploaded by a second hand source that had no right to upload it in the first place You aren’t protesting from a place of honesty, you’re acting like an entitled child because the owner of the toy you were playing with says no you can’t play with it anymore Ram dass taught to give up the guru, not create division within his own community because you’re upset you don’t have a specific video you like
@JaiSriRam1777 Жыл бұрын
@@OrcintheBasement lol go re read it. There were 2, maybe 3 people who said things similar to your points. The rest, nearly 50, agreed with the ideas expressed above. A foundation operating at a loss can be for a large number of reasons that aren’t worth getting into.
@OrcintheBasement Жыл бұрын
@@JaiSriRam1777I did read it. And that’s the point. The financials are completely public. You can see why this foundation is operating at a loss. This isn’t Netflix, there’s not a ceo making 80% of the profit. For months now you’ve dishonestly framed this situation acting like what is happening is because the foundation is greedy. You’re ignoring the reality of the situation that there are still thousands of hours of ram dass content available and this is one of the only ways to try and monetize the content they have to keep the foundation running Idk how you can pretend to be a listener of RD and not understand the context and reality of the world we live in; and then still choose to purposefully sow division in a community. It is entitlement to demand free access to content that does not belong to you and it’s explicitly harmful to dishonestly frame why it’s happening Ram dass is dead there is no NEW content to help drive money to the foundation. So one of the only ways to ensure a steady stream of money is to become one of the exclusive ways to access ram dass content Something they are well within their rights to do because THEY OWN ALL THAT IP It sucks you don’t have your specific video you enjoyed anymore but the foundations ability to actually continue to exist and spread the message outweighs your personal favorite video getting hit with a copyright strike

I was correct he new he wasn't at the level if you want to call it a level...of a guru I have seen many comments from people under other recorded talks expressing him as if he was a god or a being moving on now not talking another human carnation. I commented just to remind that was not his feelings What I love about him is the fact he left his body with very little savings He had beautiful people around him and Eno to eat and I'd say he was abundant But I follow him with a great sense of orce because he isn't like so many that are millionaires Nothing wrong with that but practice what you preach He mostly always did as far as I've seen He donated so much money that's why he left with the savings he had.but still he had an amazing life
We all have multiple personality disorder. We have hundreds of them. But we have personality which we develop in life to survive and we have our essence which we were born with. It's about identifying with these personalities and saying that's me where we go wrong.
