Great post! My EcoDiesel went from 80% to 100% - See Dealer while traveling at highway speeds on an interstate. Followed your recommendations, bought the device and software. The first two times I ran the regen program it still said see dealer. Ran it a third time and filter was cleaned to 0% 😅 and the check engine and other codes went away. Well worth the $200 investment. Thanks again.

Glad it worked for you. If I didn't get rid of my Eco, I would have kept the tablet and interface in the truck at all time in case out of the blue it needed to be done on the road.

I just had this happen on Friday. First issue I’ve had. I have a GDE hot tune and never had an issue. I was in a middle of a tow and about 200 miles from house and luckily I was a few miles from a dealer. What they did was the same as you was a forced regen and got me going. I had the same codes and I found I werid and wonder why it happened. My GDE gives me a message when it’s doing a regen and what happened it never moved from 80% down but rather have me the message to remedy at Highway speeds. Then went to 100% and put me in limp. Thankful for the dealer and didn’t cost me anything since I have the AEM. Post if it happens again and I’m really thinking bout getting the alphaobd!

It does seem strange that it happened while you were driving. I have to say that I was totally shocked that the AlfaOBD was able to complete the stationary forced regen so the interface and software was worth every penny especially given the fact that if you keep it in the truck you can do this regen anywhere on the road. Unfortunately, I've had enough of this engine/system and am working with a local dealer to trade it in on a hemi Rebel. If the deal goes through, I'll have the new truck this Friday and the Eco will be in the rear view mirror. If you saw any of my other Eco videos, you'll understand! best luck with yours.

I have a 2018 ram eco diesel. One review of the AlfaOBD said i might need a "bypass cable to make changes". Is this necessary, and what's a bypass cable?

A bypass cable is necessary to make many changes in the trucks software. I have a 2017 so thankfully I didn't need one. I could be wrong but I kinda remember reading that the bypass is needed for the body controller and not the engine, again, I could be wrong. Thanks for posting. I have my truck sitting at the dealership right now waiting for a new catalytic converter. They told the filter was too clogged , regen didn't work, and it needed to be replaced. (it's in the converter) Who knows if they're BS'ing me or not. Anyway, thought I'd pass this on since the repair is $3500. They are doing it under warranty luckily but still they have had my truck for a week and counting waiting for the part. I will be getting that AlphaOBD for sure and watching that particulate gauge like a hawk from now on. It's insane that the filter clogs that easily, and you have to drive the truck 50-100 miles on the highway to have it do a regen. I was wondering, how long does the manual regen take? Thanks

I had my 1st check engine light at 19000 miles and it was nothing but trouble after that. The list is long indeed of the times I was without the truck and the months it spent at the dealer. Traded it in last week while it was running well for a Ram Rebel with a Hemi. I Miss the fuel economy of the Eco already but I love the fact that the new truck is something that I can drive whenever I want to, or more importantly, when I need to. Anyway, the forced regen took a little over a half hour with the Alfa software and the bluetooth interface. I recommend the Alfa software for sure!

It did clear the service throttle code. Not sure about the trans issue, I never had that. Although when the throttle code was present, it does disable the turbo and it shifted a lot more than normal because of the power loss.

Just happened to my 16 ecodiesel and I drove it until the regeneration message came on then sat in neutral and kept the rpms at about 2500 and it cleaned itself and got a message saying regeneration complete

If you have any codes try clearing them first. KOEO, clear codes and try the regen again. You have to get the regen running before the code(s) come back so you need to be fast. If that doesn't work there must be other issues with the truck.

I'm pretty sure my door was closed and I've heard the codes need to be cleared prior to starting the regen, mine was done over a year ago and I honestly don't remember. But you gotta be fast between clearing codes and starting the regen.

I bought the obd link mx+ but its not helping me do what your video says there are no selection for a force regeneration to restore the exhaust system. I feel like i lost my money because just by connecting the obd link mx+ didn't do what i hoped it would do. Or maybe the instructions givin was not complete. So i just delete all the error codes and thats it i can't see that happening

You have to have the right app for your phone/pad. In another video I saw they recommended the Alfa OBD app, the option was in that program.

Hello, I bought the software and the link but it has never started the regeneration process, I bought the truck brand new and have never seen that message of regeneration ever. I have 93,500 miles and got the one hundred percent message and the throtle message and the engine link and truck went into limp mode so now do not know what to do. any advice for me

No, as soon as I got the CEL off, I took it to the nearest Ram dealer and traded it on a Hemi Rebel. I had enough of the ecodiesel bull.

@@SteeveeDan I was reading in the owners manual that if the regen is not reset that it wont regenerate when it should. At least that's what I'm understanding. 🤔. I just took off my DEF, flushed water through it. Use some Sodium Hydroxide (AC coil cleaner)😁 then flushed with water. I boiled water and flushed out with that too. I still have to clean the EGR tube. Once I'm done; to the dealership I go...😁. Not getting a Diesel though.

The software only works with Android so you'll need an Android phone or tablet. Once you have the software installed it will connect to the OBD dongle when the dongle is plugged into the OBD port and the ignition is on.

Once you get this issue resolved delete everything on the truck. If that’s possible where you live. I have 241,000 miles on mine. Mine did this around 80,000 going up north it got super cold a few nights and even with anti gel in the diesel it went into limp mode. Needless to say when I got home and went to someone and got everything removed. Just turbo Back exhaust and EGR block. If it’s possible for you it’s worth every penny. All those emissions on those trucks are hell on the engine. It’s like a you running around with a sinus congestion cold your whole life. Hope it all works out for you.

@SteeveeDan yea I have that coming in today. Exact same one. So I need to let my truck run for a bit to get to 130° in order for it to start the regen I know that much. Then plug that OBD in and turn the truck on and run the regen from my phone?

@@danielskelton9373 Yes, but hopefully you don't have an Iphone as Alfa OBD only works with android. You may need to clear any codes then start the regen immediately. I've heard some guys have had issues getting the regen to run with codes in the pcm.
