FORCE DPF REGEN for RAM 1500 ECODIESEL

I have a 2015 RAM Ecodiesel with a bunch of errors and warnings. I do not drive long distances (at least not lately). Diesel is a great system and engine. The EGR and DPF system is a very bad system. It is crazy that it can stop someone from owning/driving his truck because of driving behavior. Anyways, I have to FORCE a DPF regen and did not want to go to stealership to spend $500 - $1000 to do what I can do myself.
I did buy AlfaOBD (Android version) to perform this force regen.

Did your truck actually go through the whole force regen and clear the exhaust filter?

Little late on commenting but I just ran into this issue with my 2015 ram ecodiesel. Started at 80, then to 90 and now sitting at 100%. Will this work on the 2015 if I purchase the app and reader? Thank you.

Yes it works with ram ecodiesel 2015.

Thanks. I was able to get the Regen started and it ran for about 5 minutes at 2500 rpm the shut off. I tried again and it states. Failed. Service not supported in active diagnostic session.

I wasn't able to find the diagnostic reset. Maybe they need to be cleared first?

Is this different from what the mechanics do? We have our truck at the mechanics and they say they’ve tried regen two times and not working. He’s saying it’s a software thing and we’d need to update the software for $600 😢 I’m wondering if we try this if it will even work

No. Regular OBD can not do force regen. This Alfa OBD is the only one I know of. I know some diesel mechanics may have others they use also.

@@DIYGEEKTEXAS yeah. I Have a mechanic that just charged me upwards of $8000 to change my steering gear. And he’s telling me now he needs to replace the filter and pump I knows he’s trying to Rob me. Cause this issues is caused by me not driving the Jeep for almost a year. The last time I drive I had a Minor accident and it was doing a regen. So I know it’s just the spot has become charcoal. No need for all this Scam that they are trying to pull. I’ll keep searching for the Tool however. Thanks

I see the check engine light is still on. Even I clear the check light it pops back up and doesn’t allow the Regen. (2017 eco diesel)

Clear all codes. Turn key off, wait a few seconds. Turn key to run, (don't start truck!) Set on ap then to start Regen process and stop that page. Start truck, AND AS SOON AS IT STARTS HIT START REGEN. it will still show dpf clogged message but Regen would be running. In 25 minutes u can go from 100% to 60%. If it does not work, the dpf is to far gone and needs to replaced. U can find reman ones for 1500 with a quick search, and any reputable shop can install them. Send old one back and get core back of 400 bucks

None of those are bad responses.. they are all because of what is stated right there.. "Coolant temperature MUST be greater than 60C).. and you see on all of the "bad responses" it logs the coolant temp.. every time.. its under 60

Yes as long as you actually perform the REGEN successfully. This technique only triggers the regen process. You still have to let the regen process works and finish.
