If we approach things scientifically, the Vedic Sanskrit is a myth. PIE came to this land around 1500 BC? or after the IVC. These Baltic languages got mixed with Tamil and created Pali, Magathi etc., which was spoken during the great saint Buddha and then Emperor Ashoka. We have an inscription proof of Tamil from 400 BC with unique Tamil alphabets and phonetic like ‘Nedunchezhiyan’ but even today these word can not be pronounced correctly in Sanskrit or English ( not an issue as uniqueness of language)and Ashoka’s inscriptions borrowed 75% of the scripts from the old Tamil in order to adopt by then-new language Pali’s dialects ( Tamil + Lithuanian)

Right brother, I am a Bengali also and it is the time to move back to the starting. Sanskrit education is a must from an early stage of life in every single Indian household. In this matter we, as Bengalis, shall have to take the major responsibility first. Don't expect anything from the government first, because it would not give any damn to this until it becomes a social undercurrent.

@@RAIRADIO what nonsense ? You don't even know about Vedic Bharat properly, a very rich culture with a rich knowledge.... we have male and female scholars too, some of the female scholars or Vidushis of Ancient Bharat are Maitreyi, Lopamudara, Gargi, Apala, Visvavara,Urvasi, Saswati,Ghosha,Kshana,Sulabha, Lilabati,, these are some female scholars of an Ancient Bharat. And about Sati, it was not compulsory in ancient time , because there were so many queens who didn't commit Sati like queens of Dashrath maharaj (Kaushalya, kekayi, Sumitra), ancients widows like Karnavati, Ahilyabai holkar, Rani laxmi bai, Meera bai there are plenty of womans, who didn't commit Sati and nobody forced them because it was not necessary at all.. In mughal period, Hindu womans used to do Johar, because of Mughals looteras, these looteras tried to make them their sex slaves, that's why Rani Padmavati and the ladies of her kingdom committed Johar... after that it became necessary in some places of India not all over the India, there are no stories of johar or sati in Pahadi areas(Like Uttrakhand, Assam, Jammu, Manipur, Meghalya, Himachal, Darjeeling, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura,etc ) and not in a Southern part of India. It was became necessary in some part of India. India is very diverse and big country, each state have different culture, empire, cuisines and history. Don't forget the most exalted and pure scriptures like Mahabharata, Ramayana, puranas, Upnishads and Bhagwat Geeta were written by Sages like Ved Vyasa and Maharishi Valmiki, and they both belongs to Shudra family.... don't assume anything by reading distorted history by so called historians... This is the most oldest living Civilization , even after so many barbaric invasions, this civilization survived somehow. And this country(Bharat) has never attacked and invaded any other country because of the high morals of their Dharma(or duty) and culture

What do YOU EXPECT BRAIN DEAD BR AMBEDKAR ( WHO DID NOT KNOW SANKRIT ) This is what the Moron wrote about our priceless Vedas. The Vedas are a worthless set of books. There is no reason either to call them sacred or infallible. Nobody has had the courage to ask why these worthless books which contain nothing but invocation to tribal gods to destroy the enemies, loot their property and give it to their followers, have been made sacred and infallible. BR Ambedkar The Vedas are idle fantasies and absurd legends, which have NO sancity . If there is only one God, who created the whole mankind, why did he write the Vedas only in Sanskrit language despite his anxiety for the welfare of the whole mankind? What about the welfare of those who do not understand this language? Vedas are a form of false consciousness . Mahatma Jyotirao Phule The Vedas must be burnt. A careful study of the Vedas, etc., proves beyond doubt that they were written by the Aryans with a view to disgrace, enslave and exploit the Dravidians. EVR Periyar

@@adflix424 unfortunately the reason for the cause of the split was all due to Brahmanism. Brahminism as to how it originated was ok but it grew into much evil form where untouchability got introduced and all got affected. Many Dravidian parties used this as key feature to fight caste(in realism it was only anti Brahmin alone). But the dravidian party successfully created a generation of left leaning people. In Tamilnadu the Dravidian movement was driven by a strong anti-Brahmin sentiment. E.V. Ramaswami Naicker (EVR) wanted the British to stay. The anti-Brahmin sentiment was equated in toto to anti-Sanskrit sentiment. The hatred for Sanskrit quickly developed into, "If you are for Sanskrit it means you are anti-Tamil langugage" and if you like Tamil you must, ipso facto, hate Sanskrit. Then, of course, anti-Brahmin became synonymous with anti-Aryan, who, "invaded the South and destroyed the pristine Tamil culture that existed before". The number of hate speeches on this topic is large and growing every day with an alarming rapidity. [The Justice Party metamorphosed into the DK party, whose political wing became the DMK. Most of the Justice Party founders were big land owners, although they claimed to fight for the poor and marginalized, but their descendants are among the strongest Breaking India forces.]

Ramasamy Naicker nearly wrecked a three thousand-year old Tamil culture which owes most of its growth to Hinduism, by pitting Tamil against Sanskrit. He was an atheist but mainly targeted the Brahmins as descendants of the ‘Aryan’ race. Funnily enough, while he propagated the Aryan-Dravidian divide, he considered Tamil as a barbaric language and Tamilians barbaric. In spite of this anti-Tamil racist approach, DMK found it politically expedient to elevate him to the status of a social reformer. It is only now that voices are being raised against the Dravidian parties. However, we sorely feel the absence of a popular, mass leader who can effectively counter the cacophony ‘dravidian’ voices. Lastly, it must be mentioned that in most of the religious literature works (their number is legion) Tamil is freely mixed with Sanskrit. Even the most revered work Thirukkural by the saint-poet Thiruvalluvar does this.

Wouldn't it be better to pick the same language in vogue from the earliest times in this subcontinent and study the language more deeply so that the misinterpretation cannot happen. Dayanand Saraswati tried to do so through his sincere efforts to produce commentaries on the Vedas with a deeper understanding of Sanskrit. Vedic stipulation was three years after puberty for girls , which was brought down by later smritis. Sati was rampant only as jauhar in the Islamic occupation. In other areas , it was extremely rare . The missionaries took it up as an item of campaign , whereupon they manipulated the number of a few hundred over the entire Bengal Presidency to many thousands. Read Prof Meenakshi Jain's authoritative book for more information. And others have pointed out that from historical evidence , these hundreds were the highest point in all history. RRMR did well to oppose both child marriage which was rampant and sati , which was dying out by the time of his campaign according to Prof Jain, and was a bogey for Christian conversion. Millions were killed by man made famines during the Colonial occupation, which did not seem to agitate either the Colonials or the Conversionists. And why did RRMR convert and become a colonial agent , at all ?

I agree with you on those reforms, but to rage a war against the evil brahminism why should we need to anglicized our education system. If it not for it's richness why the hell the westerners would study Sanskrit in their universities. Think on it.

Ram Mohan Roy with idol less Brahmo Samaj and Ambedkar with Buddhism is very similar. They knew that Hinduism had become very theocratic, people were suffering and abrahamic religions are breathing down the neck. Both offered alternatives, as neo Buddhism and Brahma Samaj - so people had a way out of vedic superstitious rigidities but didnt have to leave the Dharmic community. Lets not forget that Hinduism had become very nasty at that point - with sati, untouchability, widows exiled, vedic knowledge being restricted by varna etc. So when you hate on these people, dont forget what things were like back then.

All the major lnguages of India are highly developed and Sanskrit has been a vital source for their grammar, unifying ability, and for making new vocabulary for science and technology.(Some politicians who have no great command of even their mother tongue foolishly indulge in claiming its viability without crucial borrowings from Skt voabulary and grammar. Thus Hinfi and India's regional languages cannot grow on healthy lines with neglect of Skt with its elegant rules of word formation and etymology. India 'a languages cannot grow on wholesome lines under the linguistic reorganization which not only grew beautifully earlier, but also to strengthen inter-linguistic goodwill and national consciousness. Now linguistic passions are used by some rogue parties as one more tool for garnering votes and thuscaoture power for misuse gor empire building by party bosses from top to local levels. The linguistic rrorganisation concept, moreover, is crumbling, as witness the further split of ex.,,Telugu and Hindi speaking states. The disunity and dissesnsion among Indians is caused by linguistic reorganization which largely explains the tardy progress of our country in a highly cacophonous democracy . This attracts too many rogues into the political space and too few patriots that too, so meek and so submissive as to be easily overpowered by the criminals and the foreign funded antinationals.

Sir, I don't know if you read the comments or not, but I, being from 'Bengal', would like to add something. You discussed about his Anglophilia- when Hindu College (now Presidency University) was created there was a debate among eminent people of Calcutta about the type of education- Orientalist vs Anglicist- Roy was the leader of the latter's. He also founded 'Brahmo Samaj' preaching monotheism, denouncing Saakar Worship (Murti puja) of several forms of the divine as worshipping dolls, just like Christians mocks using the word "pagan". He misinterpreted Vedantas to suit the missionaries. Sahamarana (now branded as Sati) was an obscure voluntary practice rarely performed. But he portrayed it as forcible burning of widows on husband's pyre to show Hindu culture as demonic to the British legislature's eyes and then British parliament allowed missionaries in India to save us from 'barbaric religion'. But history shows a widow queen like Ahilyabai reigning in 18th century. Thousands of widows were living in Bengal and rest of India- nobody burned them on funeral pyres. But the narrative we are taught potrays how English education uplifted us from demonic practices.

Nehru was neither - he was just a scumbag of his own caliber no need to give credit to RRMR. About RRMR, things are not black and white (just like anyone else), he criticized Christian doctrines, and asserted that how "unreasonable" and "self-contradictory" they are. He further adds that people, even from India were embracing Christianity due to the economic hardship and weakness, just like European Jews were pressured to embrace Christianity, by both encouragement and force But for him the British rule was far better then the Muslim invaders' rule that preceded in Bengal. And all subsequent Nehruvians , and the Hindutwa people as well. Why do you suppose the Congress could muscle in all the Hinduphobic discriminatory legislations , including in the period 2004 - 2014, into an already minoritarian legal framework? The entire establishment , including the current govt , is swayed by RRMR logic Why has not a finger been moved for the redressal of specific Hindu grievances or for promoting the Samskriti , which causes cannot be legitimately questioned by other - faith people : One , because it is heritage , which even non Indians are interested in and two , other faiths are sumptuously fed already. It is providential that we have someone like Rajivji who provokes so much thought .

In a raging twitter debate, Rajivji received many unsavoury comments (even from the big handles). They commented that his views were flippant and shallow. This video gives an insight on how deeply Rajivji has done the purva paksha on RMR to put out those tweets. In the spirit of debate one should focus on the issue discussed and try to identify the consequences caused by such important personalities on society. If it shatters the myth of such individuals then it should be acknowledged accordingly. Citing contexts and situation of the time to defend them is insufficient as there were also others in that same period who did not compromise and has unfortunately remain hidden and unacknowledged.

I am a Bengali Hindu, but more than anything else I am an indian first and I have enough reasons to be proud of. I firmly believe in our great and ancient culture of our nation should be revitalized in modern society and every Indian should strive for that. That's why I am very much delighted to watch Rajib Malhotra ji's channel where these ideas are promoted. And I think Sanskrit is one of the most profound and sophisticated language ever conceived by human civilization and with the strength and vastness of this language with which our risihis pronounced those sublime and highest thoughts where the ultimate truth of humanity are vaulted. And I always want that Sanskrit should be brought back in our schools from our early days. And it is a curse we have totally wiped it out from our curriculum. But at the same time I think it is not do proper justice to Raja Rammohan Roy based on a single letter written against Sanskrit. We have to look into the time and era when he is writing this letter when the condition of our country is ridden with so much ignorance, bigotry, superstition and casteism. I don't know much of neo-hinduism but surely He is one of the founder of new Bengal vis a vis a new India and the modern India, no denying it. Through him the Renaissance of Bengal and India was started and we should be grateful that with the free analytical mind we are doing this analysis, we owe to him. He is one of the first rational man in our society and fought against so much odds in our system. The contribution of his and later on in the same vein the thrust of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar can never be trivialized. At his time condition of common Indian gentry is at knees and concept of patriotism is not even made its seed. The ground work he did has brought forth the new age idea of patriotism through the flames of Swami Vivekananda much later. He was profound follower of Hinduism but wanted to get rid off the dogmas and superstitions like Sati etc. He was the profounder of "Brahma" dharma based on Vedantic concept and opposing the idol worshiping which he thought at that time as irrational. That's a mistake of his part and duly corrected by Sri Ramakrishna later on and so was his going against Sanskrit and educate India with english and modern science s, though one cannot totally overlook or ignore the benefit and influence on our society by modern education system. What was needed a perfect synthesis of the two systems, which we finally see in Swami Vivekananda where East and West had a confluence. Still we could not undermine the monumental contribution and sacrifice of Raj Rammohan Roy ffor our modern day India🇮🇳.

I agree on Ram Mohan Roy and some social reforms, but to rage a war against the evil brahminism how had he thought to anglicized our education system. It was simply a blunder of him. If it not for it's richness why the hell the westerners would study Sanskrit in their universities. Think on it. I am a Bengali also and it is the time to move back to the starting. Sanskrit education is a must from an early stage of life in every single Indian household. In this matter we, as Bengalis, shall have to take the major responsibility first. Don't expect anything from the government first, because it would not give any damn to this until it becomes a social undercurrent.

That actually great people like ramakrishna paramhans and swami vivekananda could reserve only 2 lines for themselves in the entire thing that they calle a "history" book!! Turns out, almost the 90 percent of the supposed history that we were made to learn is distortion. The entire primary school history was about how silly the vedas and the vedic age were and how it was not some thing to be amazed at. Then came the chapters that told us how great were akbar and alexander and how we should be thankful that such great men chose to invade 'us'. Next, came the series of chapters on mahatma gandhi where they called gandhi's fight as moderate and named great ones like bhagat singh as "extremists". I had a teacher when i was in class 8, who had once said while teaching that thank god british came to india else we would have remained uncivilized forever. Sir, Modern Bengali literature started with anti-hindu movement. Young Bengal, a club of Hindu College, started Bengali Renaissance. Their motto was ' IF ANYTHING WE HATE FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEART THAT IS HINDUISM.' Michael Madhusudan Datta, with many others, was an offspring of this movement. Michael Madhusudan Datta wrote 'The Megnad-bodh kabya', the first Bengali epic wherein Lord Rama is protrayed in an evil way and Raban was glorified. It is important to note that the poet said that he hated Rama.

I'm putting Sanjeev Sanyal under the Breaking India Grey List for now. English was to be replaced by Hindi as the National Language of India. But it didn't happen. Too many regional languages were given the status of classical language and were raised to the level of Sanskrit. For pure political reasons. All South Indian languages are considered classical languages along with Sanskrit. Clearly shows that Aryan Dravidian politics was at play. Even the discussions of acknowledging Devnagri as the National Script and promoting it on international forums were paid no heed, and later it got replaced by the Roman (English) script during the SMS era.

1. By asking for Hindi to be the National language, you are a Breaking India Force. You are only baiting Dravidian separatists, and exposing your own arrogance & stupidity. 2. Hindi was never supposed to be rather Sanskrit was supposed to be the Nation language. And the first step was to Sanskritize Hindi, but instead Hindi became more mixed with urdu. 3. South Indian languages are considered Classical not because of political reasons, its because they are. They are ancient and have rich literature, comparable that of Sanskrit. They have flourished at a time even before Hindi was born in mughual darbars.

Prior to the arrival of the British, entire education in the country was in Sanskrit, then y didnt scientific / technological progress take place.All the Indian rulers were working as agents of the British. The British crown didn't acquire control of the country until the 1857 uprising, before that only the East India Company was managing the country with the help of the native rulers. Before adoption of the English education a long period of discussion went on between a group led by Ishwar Chaandra Vidyasagar and another by Ram Mohan Roy about whether education should be continued in Sanskit and mainly for the Brahmins as advocated by the Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Group or in English for all sections of the Indian society as advocated by Raja Rammohan Roy group. The discussions went on for a very long time before it was decided to adopt English as the medium of instruction as a large no of words and new concepts which were being discovered in those days did not have any equivalent words in Sanskrit. When the first School was opened in the country in 1804 and Education imparted to all sections of the society without discrimination, it created tremendous enthusiasm in the society and the demand for such schools started growing and that is how the English medium schools became popular all over the country. It is not as if English was unilaterally imposed, on the other hand it was adopted by the general populace. As on date it is the proficiency in English which has enabled the Indians to gain prominent positions worldwide in important organizations. Chinese Govt has adopted the policy of introduction of English in all schools and colleges. Same is the case with Japan. Even though Japanese are poor in oral English communication they are excellent in written English communication. France which traditionally has been antagonistic towards Britain has its own English language channel, the same is the case with Russia, China as well as Japan. The fact of the matter is all scientific and technological material is taken fom the West in English and taught in the schools in vernacular but using the same English material. It is not for nothing that English is the only language to cross nearly 1 million words. No other language comes even close. Further Sanskrit is a Slavic/ Russsian language and so is the vedic culture. Russians are fully aware about this. Similarly, the original Vedic culture is also Slavik/ Russian / Iranian. There are ancient Vedic societies already working in these countries. The Russians say that the vedic culture adopted in India is not the original vedic culture, it is a subsequent adoption designed to control the masses. The people from Mazandran in Iran consider Indra as there patron deity and themselves to be descendents of Indra.

Except that there is nothing like Modern Hinduism or Modern Hindu Religion. Raja Rammohan Roy was fighting against certain social evils. These evils were protect by Brahmins who only knew Sanskrit. There was no other education those days for people in general. Even many of the Brahmins were merely knowing Sanskrit but not the ancient texts. Sanskrit was made a mystry to the masses. Advent of British Education did very little harm to Sanskrit Education. In fact the Britsh built a special college for entirely Sanskrit education.

Exactly. Raja Ram Mohan Roy took a chance to use British Rule to India's benefit. Evil customs like Sati or other orthodoxy could not be stopped otherwise. Rajiv should talk about it as well. Whereas in Sanskrit and India's hoard of golden treasry of philosophy, literature and Yoga are still relevant today, unfortunately Raja Rammohan Roy had to do that to respond to the reality in those days.

Sanskrit was the language of the Brahmins, and they alone had the privilege of Sanskrit education. Prakrit was the language of the masses and even during the times of the Buddha, he propagated his teachings and philosophy in the language of Pali, which was a form of Prakrit, so that the masses would understand, and not Sanskrit. Raja Ram Mohan Roy's fight was not just against Sati Pratha, but also against other evil practices such as Kulinism, Dowry and child sacrifice. No one can deny that the evil practice of Kulinism (which was basically the practice of Brahmin Polygamy) did not exist in Bengal in the 1800s. Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a member of the Brahmo Samaj, whose basic belief is in Brahma, the Creator of the Universe, hence the stand against the pernicious and unnecessary ritualistic practices pervading Hinduism.

And I'm sure that a Sanskrit education system will enable us to develop our own missiles and fighter jets so that we don't have to buy arms from foreign countries, and even solve farmer's issues by developing an effective agricultural policy or address climate change along with the water crisis and the perennial flood situations happening in Mumbai and Assam every year. Sanskrit might definitely be a computer friendly language, but that doesn't mean that we forget about the national and global issues that really matter to us right now.

Swami Vivekanand and Sri Aurobindo used to consider Raja Ram Mohan Roy as one of their inspirations till the end. I respect Rajiv Malhotra Ji but I disagree with his views on Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Sanskrit education was already in decline from medieval times. Except some Upper castes no one else was admitted to learn Sanskrit formally during the medieval times as well as during Raja Ram Mohan Roy's times. The vast majority of the Hindus would either get their primary education informally from Prakrit Pathshaalas or else would remain uneducated! This all happened due to Islamic invasions and that is why Raja Ram Mohan Roy saw Macaulay's education system as the only viable option for his times to get the masses out of poverty. The ancient Gurukula system, which was egalitarian and provided admissions to all classes, was already destroyed and defunct. It was Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati (almost a century after RRMR) and his followers of the Arya Samaj that re-established the Gurukula system in parts of India. Then, Raja Ram Mohan Roy had even criticized mainstream Christianity and all the miracles and unnatural or unscientific things from the Bible. He only considered Unitarian Christians (who were then a minority among Christians worldwide, and still are, who have now mostly become Deists) to be better, that too among Christians only! He never prescribed Unitarian or any version of Christianity for Hindus. For the Hindus he prescribed the Brahmo or Neo-Vedantic philosophy (the same what later Swami Vivekanand followed till the end only with the addition of Puranic idol worship). His philosophy was never Semitic monotheism, rather it was Monism. Rajiv Malhotra Ji's views on RRMR has been refuted here. www.sirfnews.com/rajiv-malhotra-half-truth-raja-rammohun-roy/#.XPPwVgl0BSw.whatsapp

@kshatriyapa
@kshatriyapa 5 жыл бұрын
@@flyinggirl7886 Sanskrit education was already dead for centuries in Bengal and the remaining "Sanskrit education" was in Kashi (Benares) and such specific places... and this Sanskrit education wasn't even a Vedic education. It was just learning of Sanskrit grammar, meditation, philosophy etc. which were indeed wonderful subjects but wouldn't be enough to be on par with the European colonial powers. These would anyway have been taught even in Macaulay's education model, as per Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Plus, an entire life time would be invested in mastering Sanskrit since Sanskrit was no more spoken by the masses. These were no more the times of a glorious Aryavarta like ancient times. The masses needed quick education in an easier language, i.e. either their mother tongue or else a foreign tongue that isn't complex. English, Spanish, French, Dutch were the only viable options then since these were the powers that helped Bengal get independence from Islamic rule (hence majority Bengali Hindus supported the British then). Agreed, RRMR may have had some flaws but that doesn't make him a traitor or anything bad.

Can you explain what is "Neo-Vedanta"? His understanding was more likely to be 'monotheism' rather 'monism'.There is bengali movie available in his name(RR) where he criticized Hindu concept of truth and said concept of Allah is far better.That is y his own parents disliked him. Do you even know Vivekananda was not INSPIRED by Brahmo-Samaj even though Vivekananda visited the Samaj(my source of info is Ramakrishna Mission itself).Also as I can see ur dp is of Swami Dayananda; you better stick urself on "reaction to other religions" rather than claiming "mastery over Vedas".You always translate Murti or Vigraha as "idol" as it is used to be done by West and Abrahamics. So better u renamed Arya-Samaj as "Abrahamic Hindu Samaj".One who rejected Agāmā,Tantra and Bhagavat should not lecture about Hindu Dharma and its different Darshanas.Also, claiming Sanskrit is "dead" language in Bengal, is ignoring Vaishnava tradition and [Buddh(ism)?],isn't it? Also, these neo-Hindu organisation actually "Christianized and Westernised" Hindu Dharma in the name of "reformation".So this "reformation-business" is nothing but 'inability to understand ur own metaphysics"! So whenever I found the term 'reformation',I used to mark ""?"" on that to examine that.Aurobindo was more influenced by Bankim Chandra and Swami Vivekananda rather than Brahmo-Samaj that I can assure to you whether that was socio-political theory or theology!

At the end of the day what India failed to develop is a rich and a traditional militaristic culture, like the Germans, Russians or British. If your society is not ready to fight or are passifists en mass, you don't deserve a place in this world. The world is a brutal place to live in and you got to be equally brutal to survive. This is the blunt reality whether you like it or not. Sadly india hasn't learnt this yet and will never learn in the foreseeable future and hence it will never be a military superpower though may become a economic one.
