This is probably one of the most under-appreciated builds. Van building companies and rookies alike splash out making IKEA showroom or even Silicon Valley offices designs without any real thought about weight, MPG, manoeuvrability and the essentials. Yes, air-conditioning is an essential item - sometimes more so than heating. Love what you still managed to do about the galley woodwork. Interesting that you could fit Propex heater outside the interiors - I'd be interested to see a video on that. I'm sure it's a lot quieter inside, but how does that impact the stealthiness of the van? You could probably save even more weight if you went with foam-core ply and cleverly concealed aluminium sections for structural strength; with shelving doors using burlap or mesh. What did you use for insulation? I'm leaning toward spray-foaming for weight, soundproofing and cost reasons. (Sprayfoaming doesn't really require using those killmats, which can get heavy). Good job!

Wow your promaster is light. In comparison you know what my winnebago travato 59gl (promaster) weighs...blow your mind. It's double weight of yours. It cat scales at 8950 with water and empty Grey black. Nice job on how light yours is.

If you go the foam spray route, skip the sound proofing--spray foam doubles as a sound deadener. My 2 cents.

No shower. For our primary travel goals of climbing - "two days on, one day off" - we usually spend the off day in a town so finding a shower is part of the "local culture." But yep, a shower wouldn't be bad.

What brand did you get for the solar panel? I am surprised you were able to fix a Maxx Air Deluxe and 2 solar panel side by side that fix the width of promaster.

Im wondering if that fridge would hold a gallon of milk? (I drink lattes all day) It looks very easy to use. I thought a 136 would be cramped but your creation looks very spacious. I started out with tons of ideas about all the things i would include in a van build.... meaning every creature comfort but I am coming around to your way of thinking! How big is your system to power the AC?

That fridge is the Vitrifrigo DW70 Fridge only model. It does hold a standard gallon of milk no problem, but items much taller don't fit. As for air conitioning, I've got 400 watts of solar on the roof and 400 amp hours of battery. For "Colorado summer" it is great - we can leave the dog in it all day. For "Phoenix summer" I would guess it would struggle to keep up.

I'm going to research this fridge because we are 3 years into our van build with our ARB top loading fridge on pull-out/sliders and want to replace it with either a front loader or this drawer fridge like you have used. What kind of air conditioner do you have and how long will the solar power it? I have the same van with 400watts of solar but never realized I could have an AC

The air conditioner is the Autoclima Fresco 9000. These mini-split type units have some advantages over the one piece roof mount units from Dometic (and similar) like more room on the roof for solar panels and better cooling performance, but are way more of a pain to install. The Autoclima unit works great but at this point I'd recommend Cruise N Comfort who makes similar products. I had a few programming issues with the Autoclima and received almost no support, while Cruise N Comfort was amazing with any questions I've had.
