it's time for the first oil change in my 2019 ProMaster. I've never done one on this model before, so we'll figure it out on video.

aren't u suppose to take oil cap off? this video was so helpful. Your directions were great and helped me find oil drain plug. thanks much!
@NoahAxon Жыл бұрын
You can take the oil cap off first and it may help it drain faster but it isn't a mandatory step. Cheers!

The torque spec is 20 ft pounds for the drain plug and 18 ft pounds for the filter cap.

Good video, but missing the oil change warning reset procedure

Excellent video! Never attempted anything mechanical on my Promaster or Grand Caravan, but as soon as the weather breaks both vehicles will get an oil change. In the meanwhile, I need to buy some supplies. Again, excellent video and I am hoping to view more! Yes, I subscribed!

Have you done a front differential fluid change on that vehicle?
@NoahAxon Жыл бұрын
The 62TE is the most popular transmission on ProMasters in the North American market. It's what's in my 2019 ProMaster (and my 2013 Town & Country). On that transmission, the differential is completely submerged in the fluid shared with the rest of the transmission and torque converter. Follow the recommended service interval. It's a messy job but it's not too hard. I believe Kip Amore's ProMasters Only KZbin channel covers the procedure, but when I hit 40,000 miles on my van, I'll be sure to make a video of it myself.

@@NoahAxon I just would like to clarify. So from what you are saying there is no separate front differential to service? You do a fluid exchange on the transmission and that covers it all?

All other new engines I've broken in called for an oil change much earlier than Ram suggests. I like you are changing it early. I have 2.2K on my 2020. My oil is almost new looking. I was surprised how dark your old oil was. Are you doing a lot of city/stop and go driving? I'm just wondering what would account for that. Thanks for the video Noah. Good job. I've used your rear view camera hack to keep the image lit. Nice trick.

There was a little hint there when I backed off the ramp: The 11 MPG average for the tank so far. We end up doing quite a bit of idling, especially in this cold weather. Our van is a conversion van (not an RV or cargo van) with a wheelchair lift. My wife ends up going to a lot of appointments and errands, and I have a full-time job to do. I often work from the van, and when I need heat or cool, I'll run it for a while. I have a #vanlife friend who's giving me a good deal on some used stuff from his old Sprinter, including an Espar parking heater. That'll likely help. I need to go look at my "B" trip meter (which I think I reset once accidentally at around 1000 miles) to see what the engine run time was, give or take. I wanted to get around to it closer to 2,000 miles but life has been kind of crazy.

Lots of idling. That 'splains it. I'm averaging 18mpg with a mix of local country road driving. I've not been on an interstate yet with this van. When I went about 100 miles one day on a pretty remote road, I got almost 20mpg. I'm lightly built out so I can do camping and still have a multi-use van. Today I played the Lone Ranger and went to da dump, to da dump, to da dump dump dump. My humor gives away my age. Take care Noah.

Does the new o ring go into the large groove or right at the lip at the top of the housing?
@NoahAxon3 жыл бұрын
It's supposed to go up to the top of the housing. I didn't actually get it into position very well in this video but as a cinched it down, the o-ring moved to the right spot.
@highlandertcbo14193 жыл бұрын
@@NoahAxon may want to double check on O-ring placement. On the newer 349AC I believe it’s suppose to go in the large grove as you did in the video.

Thanks for the video, seems a very straight forward task to diy. Btw, in case you didn't notice the coolant level was way low.
@NoahAxon3 жыл бұрын
I've had my eye on it. It's lower now than it was a few weeks ago. The radiator is already going. I noticed coolant collecting under it while shooting this video but I played it cool. Taking it to the dealer in Monday. I really appreciate the heads up, though!
