As a big Rahman fan , and being a Bengali, I'm disappointed.. Rahman should gather knowledge about the background of that song, he should have done a bit research when and on what theme the song was written by Nazrul.. Rahman's version doesn't do any justice the patriotic theme of the song.

Yes and so is the Filmfare award not given except for bgm! For me, Swades sounds even better than Lagaan for which Rahman won so many awards. Obviously, we don’t know what really goes into these judgements!🤷‍♂️ Sometimes, the film’s BO performance also affects other prospects as well and this could be one such case!

Ohhh... You had to bring it up, haden't you? It might be integral and of composite culture but your comment is quite divisive. Remember that the three of them are professionals, and signed up to do the movie. And Rahman is no stranger to devotional music; has performed in Dargah's, appeared partaking in Kirtans and is known to be a spiritual person. Javedji has written so much lyrics all his life that he can just be good with words at will. And same with SRK and his acting.

Swades is one of those best albums of ARR that not even every self proclaimed ARR fan knows! Yet, his music and scores in the bgms just uplift the mood of the film which is somewhat slow and has a documentary feel to it! He should have got the National Award atleast for the background score. Because it makes all the right noise (read: sound) in the film. Though, We can be happy for male singer backing the award but it’s not for the songs like Ye jo des hai or Pal pal or Saawariya, my biggest favourites of the whole album. Ofcrs, in terms of songs also it’s one of the most beautiful album composed by him as Madhusree too says! And we can’t appreciate enough of the singers knowledge on classical ragas being a trained singer herself which raised the respect for the song even higher. Truly, the whole recording is goosebumps episode for her as both the song and recording time along with the lyrics challenged her and that’s why her voice won all the rewards! All in all, a cult classic album sung by a classical singer like Madhusree is for sure a treat for the ears👂

I really like the voice of Madhushree, especially when she sings in a style that gives a touch of culture to the film. The film "Swades" is my favorite in this regard, and the music in it is profound and gradually impactful. I think A.R. Rahman has created excellent compositions, and Madhushree's voice fits perfectly with his compositions. My two all time favorites are Sabaq Aisa from Tehzeeb and Pal Pal hai Bahari from Swades.
