Ramadan is just intermittent fasting guys and gals. Muslims do it because it's good for your health. The science backs it up (ask any IF dieter), when your body's not having to deal with constantly digesting food it gets a chance to sort itself out - called autophagy (happens around 14 hours after not eating). Autophagy flushes out bad stuff in your cells and recycles it, even gives your immune system a bit of a boost. All good things, absolutely no harm in it.

Should be: we're Muslims, not Jesus (who literally fasted for 40 days in the wilderness). Unlike millions of Muslims who will gorge themselves in the evening and then sleep the much of the day just so they can boast they've been fasting and look virtuous (which Jesus condemned).
@david-spliso19284 жыл бұрын
@Majestic Ice Creamz I never said that, no. The issue that Jesus took up is virtue signalling about it. In this case it's not even fasting but cheating. Anyway, Jesus said: "Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."
@david-spliso19284 жыл бұрын
@Majestic Ice Creamz Indeed. Because that's what it's about. So if you want to revel in it, don't get offended when this motivation is called out for what it is.
@david-spliso19284 жыл бұрын
@Majestic Ice Creamz Ramadan is basically a massive boast to the world. It's generally mandated in your religion of course. But the point has been made, in contrast with what Jesus said regarding the motivations of fasting and how to do it. If you'd rather follow after Muhammad, a man who kept sex slaves and turned to violence and coercion rather than persuasion, along with many other maledictions, and hold him up as the ideal man to emulate (rather than Jesus Christ) then that's your choice. Or not.

I'm not Muslim, I came here because I fast and it's an interest of mine, a few points... 1) You almost certainly wont die if you don't drink water for 72 hours (assuming no underling health conditions). 2) You almost certainly wont die if you eat no food for 30 days unless you are underweight to begin with. In fact if you are over weight it's likely to vastly improve your health. 3) When I fast, I don't really want people eating in front of me, it can make the fast much harder. I go out of my way to avoid food smells especially.

I don't care whether you eat in front of me or not, I'm not the kind who gets envious. I definetly am not doing it out of pressure but out of adoration for my Lord - so no, I won't eat just because '' no human being is watching'', just like I won' t talk bad about someone just because that someone isn't listening. God is watching and hearing everything, He is closer to us than our jugular vein. I try to fast even outside of ramadhan, because this is how closer I want to get to the All Merciful. And I can tell you that it is so much easier, to fast, to give money, to do good deeds, when you're not doing it for yourself or even for others. You have an extra quota of ressources that you get when you're doing it for God, and things become much much much much more easier. Al hamdoulillah I'm muslim.

Just try to not to post a porn and the content that make other people angry. Basically you don't need to force yourself to doing that because fasting is a challenge for muslim to ressist hungry, angry, and horny feeling. But I appreciate for what you doing to respect each others 👍🏻

Well fasting isn't just about not eating or drinking for 30 days... Its actually about pushing us humans from the human drives that make us so attached to this earth... Which is intimacy and food. It trains the human for the akira. basically preparing us for our akira.

I don't mind someone eating in front of me at all. Actually, I don't like the fact that some Muslims find it offensive. I mean, Ramadan is about discipline. And people don't have to hold the food back because you're fasting. Yes it's considerate of them but we shouldn't make them feel bad if they do eat or that they have to ask in the first place.

Actually, it's a great way to get in shape if you don't eat all the bad food and maintain a healthy food routine.

The thing about putting on weight is true. Before Ramadan, I was on a diet and after Ramadan obviously my diet got messed up but I thought that maybe eating less will still help me not to put on additional weight...I was wrong. 😭
