Same here .I don't mind answering questions about fasting either. I think it's nice having other people ask about your culture but that's just me. I happily explain why I don't follow muhammeds sect, why I eat pork, why I detest head scarf and why I like to ridicule religions. I also like to explain why people should keep their religion private. And I like to share my knowledge about how unhealthy, hypocrite and useless this fasting is. I'm not ashamed for my beliefs at all and I very much like to express and share them with everyone. In fact I am really proud I'm not a muhammedan and love to explain why. Cheers

She's stupidly (I would say sillily but that's not a word as far as I know lol) playing into the whole "minorities shouldn't have to explain their experiences or answer questions" concept which isn't really conducive to equality and diversity, but especially doesn't make sense for religions who want to spread their ideology. But since I'm an anti-theist I guess I'm okay with that hahaha. Go ahead Linda. Shame people for their curiosity about Islam. Keep them scared of it. Good job.

91MoonKnight islam is not a culture, it's a religion. And there is nothing wrong about asking Muslim about fasting during ramadan, what bother me, is that some people, consciously or not, are doing it bad. Like in the video, even if they knew that fasting means "not to eat", colleagues still bring food(donuts, coffee...) a front of her and make noise with straw to tease her.

I answered these kinds of questions at my workplace (I live in Japan) where I am the only muslim in my office. I have done fasting during an office parties. Actually, everyone was supportive. They left me some food. They gave me count downs before iftar time. They got me some water and juice that I needed. It was nice that I explained it :).

Johannah Roehrig We fast Monday and Thursday as the Prophet (peace be on him) mentioned that: “The deeds of the worshippers are presented before Allah on Monday and Thursday, I like my deeds to be presented while I am fasting.” The reason why we want our deeds to be presented whilst we fast is as Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, said: Fasting is for Me and I shall reward for it,for he gives up his desires and his food for My sake.” Furthermore we fast on Monday, as it was the day when the first revelation through the Angel Gabriel(may Allah be pleased with him)came to our prophet

Ramadan fast is about giving up temptation. It's about practicing gratefulness, empathy and selflessness. Thus making a person better in the process as your feeding your soul (character) as opposed to feeding your body which this world has become all about. They say to break out of a bad habit it takes a person around 30days. Muslims fast over 30days to break bad habits and better themselves (No one is perfect by nature, if you think that, you're deluded and probably need psychological help). Muslims also give 2% of their wealth to the poor this month and are one of the biggest charity givers. So before bashing a religion based on hate, look up what the religion is about from the reliable sources rather than being brainwashed by the media or reading false information off dodgy sites written by someone suffering from psychosis.

@@bricla9178 Have you gone without food or water for 12-14hours yourself? Once hunger kicks in it does give a feeling of empathy for poor people. The 'tonnes' of food you mention is shared amongst a family or a congregation. Physically a person alone can't eat tonnes of food when the stomach shrinks from fasting. My suggestion to you is instead of leaving a sweeping comment, try fasting for a week to see how hard it really is and then come back to us.

I still will go to lunch with work mates just not eat anything and not miss the salat. This gives excellent time to inform others of our faith and shed light on the truth of worshipping one God alone without partners. I also don’t make my fast as an excuse for me to be lazy at work, but to actually perfect it and be mindful that excellent work is worshipping Allah.

Robert Hills, only the true Muslims are the ones who believe fighting against non-Muslims is the best deed according to the Qur’an which says fighting against non-Muslims is the best deed and that they’re not true Muslims unless they do so along with the 123 commands to terrorise and kill non-Muslims just because they’re not Muslims and the 91 verses that declare Muhammad to be the perfect role model for humanity even though from the most respected Muslim sources we can confirm that Muhammad was a sexist, racist, rapist, pedophile, necrophilie, wife beater, slave trader, liar, deceiver, murderer, thief, child molester, hate monger, adulterer, war monger, terrorist and a narcissistic psychopathic war lord. Also in Sharia law ( the same Sharia law Linda has been promoting ), says that Jihad is war against non-Muslims. Here I will provide the most reliable source of Sunni Sharia law ( that Linda agrees with) and i’ll also provide the most respected Shia source for Sharia law ( see below) From the same book that all the Sunni universities and mosques use as a reference book for Islamic law: Umdat as-Salik wa 'Uddat an-Nasik ( Reliance of the traveler), reference: o9.0 “ Jihad means war against the kafar ( non-Muslims) to establish Islamic law.” From Ayatollah Mosavi Khomeini Little green book “Jihad means the conquest of all non- Muslim territories. Such a war may well be declared after the formation of an Islamic government worthy of that name, at the direction of the Imam or under his orders. It will then be the duty of every able-bodied adult male to volunteer for this war of conquest, the final aim of which is to put Qur'anic law in power from one end of the earth to the other.”

Basically fasting is a support cause for those who can't eat every day like us so we try to be in their shoes and just give back to those who can't receive such luck of eating none stop like some people can. But i like how none muslims are getting into Ramadan but they always tell me how do you guys do it. I just say you don't have to go all the way just do it for couple of days or weeks and just pray to let people know you support ramadan tradition and actually did it. I mean that's what my family members told me and they only say that because i'm half muslim so they just put it in words i can understand the meaning of Ramadan.

But yes i agree with this lady when the other girl ask her you lose weight uh and she said not really because we bench eating a lot during the night. That's i tend not to do it for a long time even if family members say you wil lose weight. Because at the end of the day Ramadan either be longer or shorter depending on the season. Like for summer it goes from morning to late midnight and when midnight happens you have to stuff your self a lot for the next day. I say if you want to practice or do it for just out of respect for your friends who is a Muslim i say do it during the fall.

I bit of explanation, you put weight only if you eat a lot of sugar, it increases your level of sugar in the blood and triggers insulin production that leads to storing the extra sugar as fat. I used to gain weight because of all the suit food I used to eat after breaking the fast. if you eat proper food without overflowing your body with sugar you would never put weight because your stomach usually shrinks so if you equilibrate the type of food you can't increase your level of sugar your blood to a point where you would need to store it in form of fat. Generally, putting weight during Ramadan is a sign of bad eating habits ( the type of food you eat, processed, sugary, too sweet ... ). Have a nice day

FASTING is one of the pillars of islam has nothing to do with gaining wieght or choose not to eat..Allah has made it compulsary for those who belive in him...to enter paradise you have to obey Allah....but unfortunately we muslims now a days have lost the knowledge which have the previous Muslims. Fasting it's not a choice is a religion.

I think Most of the Muslims have no issues if someone is eating infront of them during Ramadan... Not eating infront of the people having fast is for respect!
@worfoz
@worfoz 4 жыл бұрын
no, islam claims life is a test, and if we make your test harder by eating on front of you, you will get a bigger reward you want us to respect your ego, but we respect your beliefs and we care about your soul in the afterlife so every time we make is hard for you, you must remember this: it´s all for your own good, the harder we make it for you to follow islam, the better your rewards. Be more grateful.

@@hpgal88 islamic teaching has so many things that are bad for humanity so instead of trying to 'improve' yourself by just ritualizing delay in getting nutritions for your body, you can do other more meaningful deeds such as compassion to non muslims, stop the habit of lying or saying false things, and respect women instead of treating them like property. its against your religion probably but you can always do against man made rules its not nature's law.

By the way fasting in Islam is fasting from all sins as well as food, plus statistics show that 0.01% of terrorist attacks are done by Muslim extremists groups. Just like Christianity has KKK and Judaism has Zionists, Islam has ISIS, non of them represent the values of the religion but they are groups of people using religion as an excuse to kill and gain bigger following.

Muslims always say how much they love Jesus. I then recommend sticking to the things that Jesus preached. 16“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Jesus taught when fasting ,to keep it secret between you and God , not making a big fanfare and drawing attention to yourself ; “Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. In Islam, obligatory worship is performed publicly because there nothing to show off as one is merely fulfilling basic responsibilities but optional worship is strongly encouraged to be done in private and is far more valuable if performed in private.
