The bliss of Raga Desh - Classical Instrumental | Ramana Balachandhran

An instrumental imagination inspired by the old national integration melody (Baje Sargam ...) produced by Lok Seva Sanchar Parishad in the late 80s.
I've heard that Doordarshan used to present that melody very often and
that it invoked awe of the diversity of our musical heritage and a certain fervour.
Here's a very instrumental flow that's not confined to the technique and phraseology generally used on the Carnatic Saraswati veena.
If this piece captures even a fraction of the musical essence and spirit of that iconic production, I'd be happy.

This is probably one of the sweetest confluences between Hindustani and Carnatic that I've ever heard! I was always excited to see the outcome of Ramana's collab with Abhishek Borkar, which resulted in some genuine co-creation and not a slapdash "north-south jugalbandi". Ramana being the genius he is, seems to incorporate the "tantrakari" styles from Sarod playing into his outrageous plucking patterns here with the dextrous gamakams that can easily blend with the "gaayaki ang" followed in Hindustani music. Would love to see a duet with Abhishek on this raga with similar playing style! ❤️

It's acoustic sound of veena..with powerful mike and wonderful playing it sounds vibrant and divine..i don't think they have added any effects..it's plain real tone of veena..

Doordarshan's 'Mile Sur' and 'Desh Raag' are quite difficult to recreate, since they really belong to a certain era, a certain environment and a certain way of thinking and interacting. Your attempt to recreate that beauty, however, is appreciable and I guess, you have succeeded. Keep it up.
