LYRICS:
Too many miles behind me
Too many trials are through
Too many tears help me remember
There’s just too much to gain to lose.
Too many sunsets lie behind the mountain
Too many rivers my feet have walked through
Too many treasures are waiting over yonder
There’s just too much to gain to lose.
I’ve crossed the hot burning desert
Struggling the right road to choose
But somewhere up ahead, there’s cool, clear water
And defeat is one word I don’t use.
Too many sunsets lie behind the mountain
Too many rivers my feet have walked through
Too many treasures are waiting over yonder
There’s just too much to gain to lose
There’s just too much to gain to lose.

Bill Gaither is in the habit of forgiving people and welcoming them back into the fold. And so is God. If everyone who sang on these programs was perfect there would be empty chairs. Bill is a man of God.

@@daveb.4460 Do we all have to repent before you nowadays? If not, then you are not even *supposed* to know or recall. The victims (his family) who should know appear to have forgiven. You are messing with God's own prerogatives, it is evident that you have no right and no claim in this matter. But, IMO, you may have a big problem (Mt 7, 1+2).

We do not deserve forgiveness, but because of the sacrifice of Christ God graciously gives it. Yes thank God for his grace. However, John 10:28 does not teach once saved always saved just in case that’s what you were inferring. There are plenty of other scriptures that get plenty of warnings that we are to abide in Christ.

I cannot get over how much Reba sounds so much like her dear sweet Mama Dottie. She sounds so much like her. I mean if you close your eyes and hear it and not watch it you would think the that it was Dottie and not Reba. It’s like that old saying “Like Mother Like Daughter.” And that fits Reba and Dottie down to a “T”. And not only does Reba sound like Dottie but she looks like Dottie as well.

Yes. Repenting to God and also those whom we have round. I will say this though, when we are ministering publicly, we are held to a higher standard. The truth of the matter is it was not a one time thing. It was over years and probably decades. So certainly God forgives and hopefully he repented. Repentance is a gift according to the Bible. I am sure he did. It is certainly a good lesson on how not to do ministry as well. We cannot live one way on the stage in another way off stage. So certainly we forgive and also learn from those horrific things. I believe that is honoring to God and to book. Where he is now he does not care about his reputation. I am sure he is in the presence of the Lord and would want us to learn from the aspects of his life and ministry both good and bad.

Same. The reason our heart breaks is because there was truly no excuse for it. I’ll get to the forgiveness part in a minute… LOL there is absolutely no excuse for adultery and especially serial adultery. It was not a one time thing. It was over a period of decades. Absolutely ridiculous. He put Dottie and his family through a lot. Thank God for the grace of God. Hopefully he repainted. The Scripture teaches that repentance is a gift and you cannot just do it because you feel like it if God doesn’t give it. I trust that he did and I’m sure he is in the presence of the Lord, but like I commented in another reply, we can learn from the good and bad aspects of his life and ministry and since he is with the Lord I am sure, he would not mind us learning from both the good and bad aspects since he does not care about his reputation at all. The truth of the matter is, these are some good lessons on how not to live life and to do ministry. We cannot live one way in the public guy and another way in private and expect that it will not catch up with us. We will reap what we sow. So hopefully he got it right with the Lord and made it in probably by the skin of his teeth. Sorry for the typos as I am dictating this.

Everyone was against bringing Michael English back into the fold after he had similar issues in his life. As Christians we must remember, Jesus forgave us, many times. Similar how? Did Michael physically abuse his ex wife and accuse her of cheating with the worlds most beloved rock and roll singer Elvis Presley? He was so jealous of she and elvis that according to he and dottie both he forced her to return a gold ring elvis bought for her for the release of if that isn't love of which he sold a million copies. Alongside that did michael leave his sick and at that point gravely ill wife of over thirty years to have an affair with his mistress? Also might I add he stole the rights to several of Mrs. Rambo's classic songs and dottie had to sue him to get them back. He reportedly said his reasoning was he couldn't stand to see her suffer anymore. He did all this and more. I forgive him because I have too and because like the true queen she was dottie forgave him but please let's not compare michael to that monster of a man. Thank you and God bless

He abused fornicated and neglected dottie Rambo his wife and the great legend who wrote this song about the abuse she suffered at his hands. Also if you think I'm lying dottie said so herself. I hope he was ashamed as he later said he was for the way he treated her and that he went to her grave to ask forgiveness. He was a terrible abusive husband and I lost all respect I ever had for him after he accused dottie of cheating on him with elvis Presley her great friend and admirer of her music talent. I guess we know why now. Trash. He treated our queen like trash and I pray God had mercy on his soul.

There was trouble in the marriage, Dottie was extremely ill, Buck was very depressed. They split, he took nothing and moved into a trailer. Mae helped him out of his depression, Dottie continued on. People make up stuff and misconstrue it. All the “abuse” and Elvis rumors are garbage and lies. I know, because I was there. People get off on judging others. People make mistakes, grow, change, and become better people. At the end, there was no drama.

@@israelanthem5757 that’s not totally true. I heard her talk about it in an interview. The truth of the matter is that he was a serial adulterer. And not just at the end when daddy got sick. I believe it goes as far back as the 70s at least. With regard to the physical abuse and the Elvis rumors, I cannot verify that, but I certainly would not put it past him. It was not drama free as you try to portray it. I certainly hope he got right with the Lord. I am sure he did, but let’s not white wash it. There is a difference between forgiving someone and making excuses for them and white washing soon. He divorced Dottie because he was going to marry the secretary or whoever. He is not a good example of how to live or how to do ministry at all. Let’s learn what not to do from him. Also it does not matter if he was depressed or not. There is still no excuse for it. Let’s forgive but also let’s learn.

marie zimmerman While there are always 2 sides to every story, Buck flagrantly and coldly cheated on Dottie multiple times. I’m not saying she was perfect however, his actions were obviously sinful and wrong. I’ve never seen, read or heard any remorse from him over these actions. Maybe he and Bill had a sit-down talk about this-maybe he did express remorse. At any rate, he’s dead and gone so.... Also, please don’t pull that self-righteous “don’t judge anyone or anything” on me. I’m tired of the spineless Christians and Left using that. Read the Bible....there were plenty of people called out for their sin and wrong. Let’s call a spade a spade. By me recognizing Buck’s sinful actions does equate to me “judging” him. Have a great day!!
