It's truly infuriating and heartless of Rose to toss the heart of the ocean, a necklace that Cal gave her as a symbol of his love, into the ocean. This action not only shows a complete lack of gratitude for Cal's gift but also a disregard for the sentimental value and history that the necklace holds. It's yet another example of her selfishness and insensitivity towards Cal's feelings and emotions.

Funny, I think the annoying hype is what kept me from seeing it in the theater. After Waterworld I was sure it would bomb. I was instead looking forward to Tomorrow Never Dies, which came out on the same night, and that is the one I saw on opening night. I was also annoyed that James Horner's score for the movie got all the attention while his Braveheart score got zero attention. I saw the movie on HBO three years later and really liked it and it is now in my top 10 favorite movies. Like Braveheart it has such a rich sweeping story that can actually fill a three hour movie.

The scenes where the ship is actually sinking are still very impressive to this day, but the romance with De Caprio and Winslet's character's contribute to bloating the film badly. The sinking still looks great in 2022, I just wish blockbusters would do more practical effects; Avengers 2012 already looks incredibly outdated. The 1997 sinking simulation is a bit outdated, James Cameron in his 2012 NatGeo documentary made the new simulation you can find here on KZbin. Pearl Harbor was just a garbage movie. Pearl Harbor was made for two reasons; rip off Titanic and have post 9/11 propaganda. Pearl Harbor made up the scene where the Japanese pilots were bombing hospitals, that never happened.

Hey Matt, I highly agree with you Titanic was overrated as was Seleen Dean's song which my mom loved but I got so sick of it. I'd say The Crow had a better love story even and I'd put "It can't rain all the time" above Seleen's song. That got more emotion out of me than Titanic did of it's entirety. The Crow was a great film with an excellent score and to me it deserves it's praise way more than Titanic did. You felt Eric's pain of losing his fiance Shelly, you felt it through Brandon's performance. Plus the "It can't rain all the time"s meaning behind it what it meant for Eric and Shelly. Eric and Shelly had a lot less screen time and I got more of an emotional response from their relationship than Jack and Rose did of all the 3 hours they spent together. So imo The Crow beats Titanic by miles

Always respect your opinion, but i recently watched this film for the first time from beginning to end around thanksgiving, and I absolutely enjoyed it , mainly because Rose is a character anyone can’t relate to no matter if you are male or female , she wasn’t in control of her life but seeing how Jack saved her and got her out of her shell you really see her gain courage and bravery to make her own destiny, and seeing the tragedy of people who didn’t make it out the bottom dorms or who died in the subzero temperatures of the water and the overall pressure of the water, And many say it was a sad ending I found a mixture of happiness and sadness , sad because of jack’s death but also happy rose got to live her life to the fullest , and there is 2 ways to see the ending she either dies in her sleep and reunites with Jack in heaven or she is sleeping and dreaming of her and Jack , either way I think it’s a beautiful way to end a excellent romance and seeing what the people went through in a film of a real tragic historical event makes me respect the movie and like it even more because it puts what humans beings go through in perspective but just like when rose was at a low point in her life and grew as a individual to live how she wanted to so do human beings find their way to live on from horrible tragic events or tragedies together ,but that’s how I see the movie and it will always hold a special place in my heart and always great hearing different opinions , good vid sir 💯

About the pacing of Titanic-- you thought (if I heard you correctly) that Cop Land was a better-paced film than Titanic; I thought another film that was far better-paced than Titanic was the 1979 Columbia Pictures film The China Syndrome (w/Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon and Michael Douglas). That one had a very taut story (a nuclear accident that wasn't, leading to the incident of the title) and got from A to B very fluidly in its just over 2-hr. run time; it's worth it if you get it on Blu-Ray or DVD.

Finally someone who doesn’t just suck this movie‘s dick because it’s James Cameron. I never liked this movie even the first time I saw it in 2015. There is no suspense whatsoever in this movie because you know how the movies gonna end and you know when the boat is gonna sink. The characters are so damn annoying as well. I wish James Cameron would’ve stopped a making more movie is like Terminator (1984), Terminator 2 (1991), The Abyss (1989), True Lies (1992), and Aliens (1986). All of those are great movies. Jurassic Park (1993) is my favorite movie of all time and while that movie did get good reviews it made a huge amount of money in the box office like it deserve in my opinion that movie out kicks the shit out of Titanic and it should’ve made way more money, because that movie had good characters unlike this movie. Dances With Wolves (1990), and Forrest Gump (1994) Our great romance movies but those movies words because the cast was much better and the characters were much better to. Jurassic Park (1993) which granted at least got the positive reviews and respected deserved, that movie should’ve made way more money than this and that movie outkicks the shit out of this movie any day. When I first saw this movie I thought it was a mediocre below average movie but the more I think about it the more I start to hate the movie Titanic (1997). Titanic was always overrated , the special effects weren't even impressive by 1997 , this came out In the late 90's era when we had already been flooded with alot of CG heavy disaster blockbusters every summer , and all of those movies had more entertaining plots and more Innovative special fx imo , with original ideas conjured from scratch rather than just a retelling where we all know how It ends , so I never understood why Titanic stood out. Women drove this movies success , I remember girls telling me they saw It 3 times In the same month. They had the right stereotypical leads , they had the right hype buzz , perfect sappy theme song etc.. everything fell Into place to really appeal to women. It was a watered down crowd pleasing cliche hammy level of romance too , that helped mainistream appeal.

@@millabasset1710 They were good but not all that to me , a year before In 1996 we already had Inependence Day , Men In Black , Twister , and thoughout the early-mid 90's Toy Story , Jurassic Park , T2 , Forest Gump , Dante's Peak , Apollo 13 , Totall Recall etc and lots of other 90's movies doing Impressive things In their own way. In any case the technical visual feat dosen't save an otherwise mediocre overly long film like Titanic imo.

The reason you care more about the emotion in the film the Abyss is that you are more interested in the story of that movie because it was about aliens and such. You don't strike me as someone that cares about mainstream love story films. Part of the reason you don't like the Titanic is that it doesn't appeal to your personal taste as a viewer the villain of the abyss was an insane soldier the one from Titanic is just a mad Rich guy the films aren't comparable.

I can't stand the thought of watching it again, would be like torture to me! It swings between being unconvincing and unbelievably sentimental! Its a film for people who are sad, and enjoy being sad, horrific music also! 😆 A night to remember 1942 was an underatted film, didn't resort to being a sloppy sentimental load of slop, but made you really feel sorry for what happened to the people on the Titanic!

To defend the infamous floating scene, I can assume that it was the extremely cold water (28 F), combined with 1500 people panicking and screaming in the water around and you get pure chaos and an inability to think straight.

I saw Titanic in theaters and I didn't know much about the tragedy with the exception that the ship sank but I was in thralled, didn't know what characters would actually live or die, didn't know Jack & Rose were fictional inserts for the story. It held my attention and I didn't feel the length at all. I can see why it was as HUGE as it was, it appealed to a massive audience hitting all the demographics. Sure there were haters and contrarians but they were in the minority. Me and my group of friends (guys & girls) who watched Titanic left the theater, grabbed a bite to eat , went back to the Loews theater to see another movie...we decided on Scream 2 since we were all fans of the 1st one. We walked out of that movie and were so underwhelmed, it just could NOT follow Titanic. We forgot all about Scream 2 and began talking about Titanic again. To each his own, I suppose

Aside from the practical effects which are incredible,Titanic 1997 is straight up butt cheeks. A Night to Remember is the best Titanic movie of all time, because it actually has more going on than 2 idiots in love. It even explains why the Titanic sinking was a disaster beyond the iceberg impact. There were many factors, and A Night to Remember covers them all.

I did listen to Cameron's 2005 commentary a few nights ago, when he claims people in the oughts, had closer slang to what we have today. People believe Victorian era language really lasted into the nineteen-teens, it really didn't. A Night to Remember needs more attention, definitely better than the crappy 1953 movie.
