Just a little tip Chris get yourself one of those portable battery boosting packs and keep it charged up works great on those days you're battery life is low also a long set of booster cables is extremely handy you can hook them up to your truck

I have been working towards no stacking for all my deliveries. I do sell all my wood as green as it comes of the cconveyor from processor into dump trailer free falling I get almost 4 face cords in and sell a dump trailer load at a set price. My pick up truck dumps to did that 10 years ago had to stack to get 2 face in truck but 8 seconds was unloaded. I do stack wood for self serve customers in my yard some people can only afford 1 face cord at a time I am 63 now and dont like stacking wood anymore lol. P S you are 1 of the hardest working people I have seen in the firewood business you would work circles around me

Chris whenever It gets down below zero add 4 ozs of kerosene to your hydrolic fluid in your dump trailer the pump will be able to pump the fluid better. Also use a set of jumper cables and jump from the truck to the trailer and keep the truck running and that will boost the pump to pump at a faster speed. Love your videos Chris keep up the good work.

pusher might be the better choice for the wood yard area. you can push the show, and it stays in the pusher, unlike the plow which pushes it to one side. a down side is the pusher with the poly blade doesn't get down to pavement like a plow. Nobody in your area make a "snow bucket" for the tractor? Your videos have given me great ideas for my firewood business

From the research I've done on snow removal on a tractor. If you are doing long drives, blades are the way to go. If you are doing lots and large areas (like your woodyard) the pusher is the way to go. If it snow heavily and you need to scoop the snow, you already have a bucket. My suggestion would be the pusher. Good luck on your choice!

Chris, I got a down 2 earth 2021 84 x 16 ft dump trailer and with temperatures around 80 I get 6 dumps on a full charge. When I know I going to use it every day I put it on charge overnight and it charges back to full. Used it yesterday dump 2 loads and put it on charge when I got home around 2. Had to stop cause of rain. We going to get back to work today hauling junk to my dump site. Have a great day be safe.

Firewood fun has turned into frosty frustration. Soggy and salty, partially powered dumps, and snow removal conundrum. Suggestion - if you can, test options before you buy or borrow Tony’s toys to see how they work for your situation. I use a 7’ snow plow and chains on an old Farmall Super C. Shorter angle runs on deeper snow…But you have to have a place and plan on where to push your piles.

My buddy has a real nice plow that articulates for his tractor. We used to keep an old k5 Blazer with a plow but I scrapped it a few years ago and just pay him to come over with his tractor whenever we need pushed out. I have a tractor too and the bucket is all I have ever needed but my tractor is the same size as yours his is a bit bigger with an enclosed heated cab so I just pay him when its needed instead of freezing on my tractor lol. Not that often though since I live in SC where it doesn't snow lol but we still have our house up around Erie and we do spend some time up there up here right now. You might want to just a jumper pack to just leave in your truck for your dump trailer. Just get a good one. I have had a few and those little tiny ones pretty much are always junk I have a really nice one I bought about 2 years ago now that will jump anything no matter how dead it is and it holds a charge for quite a while. I would have to look at my eBay invoices to see the brand but its one of the main ones you see if you look on there they come in a bunch of colors I got the bright orange one figured it would be easier to find then the blue and red and some of the other colors its offered in it was like $175 I think but well worth it. We have a body shop and car dealership so it gets used a lot. Lot of these cars don't get ran to often but it would work perfect for your trailer. I use it when towing my car trailers too. Battery goes dead all the time running the winch and its no good if it dies when you have a car pulled halfway onto the trailer. Hook the jump box up and back in business.

As far as the "dump battery", if you have the 7 pin trailer plug you should be able to wire the dump trailer the same as a camper and the truck will charge the battery. For the plow, a V plow on the front of the tractor and a snow pusher on the 3 point. You can bust threw any drifts with the V and then use the posher (in reverse) to collect any windrows. You said we the viewers could spend YOUR money!!! GNI

As a camera guy you know to charge your batteries 🤔 If you ask your wife she would probably tell you morning wood delivery is always good😁 You know that fire needs wood. Ya gotta stoke that fire box🤣😂🤣. I worked for a big company, Perdue farms and they had me fabricate some rolled edges for loader buckets so that it would not dig into the asphalt and would also glide over stones a much cheaper option. It can be done by cutting a groove into a piece of schedule 40 or 80 steel pipe and weld on straps that line up with the bolt holes in your bucket. Keep up with the batteries my brother!

Iam luck cause my trailer charges off my truck when plugged in but if I need to ever charge it there's a built in charger on the trailer so I just need to plug an extension cord into the trailer and to my house. I have a snow plow and a snow pusher. They both have there places. Only thing is if you get a snow pusher it takes alot to push bigger snow falls around compared to a plow. I'd say with your tractor is you'll have the power just won't have the traction to push it around. My pusher is on a rubber tracked skid loader my plow is on my tractor. Stay safe my friend!!

Good morning Chris!!😀😀 I know what you got for moving the snow. LOL!! It will be hard when we get a lot of snow to get the first pass through. So what you will have to do is go to the far end of were you are going to push it to and take short sections that you can move and keep moving back until you get a complete pass through it. Then you can gather up the rest and take it down the first trail you make. Because if you try to push and don't make it to the end you are kinda screwed. Good luck with the snow removal. I have a Kioti 4510. Snow blower attachment off rear PTO. I direct snow where i need to 40sf away. Just don’t aim towards windows it will throw rocks. I have a sugar shack 1/4 mile in the woods from the house. I’ll bucket or snow blow path to cabin and sugar woods. Even with bucket, if it gets icy or heavy snow, 45 hours diesel tractor looses traction. You should choose what’s good for you. If you don’t have places to blow the snow first time a blower may not be best. Snow compacts each time you through it, gets harder to blow or move.

Good morning from the UP of Michigan. I have been dealing with snow all my life. My recommendations for snow removal for you is a snow pusher. The Appleton area doesn't receive that much snow to worry about. Your tractor should be able to handle the snow no problem. If you get an unusual amount of snowfall, you will just have to take smaller bites when pushing. If you live where I live where we can receive more than 300 inches a year, I would probably recommend a snowblower. Merry Christmas and a happy new year Chris. - Jeff

Great video Chris! Look forward to them every day. You're a brave soul asking for recommendations. But since you asked...I have a large heavy duty blade for the rear of my 41hp John Deere. It's never failed to move what I want to do with it. Tractors have much better pushing capabilities going backwards. You experienced that moving the burm. Heavy will always lift the front tires off the ground on smaller tractors. That being said, the back blade can be used year round when cleaning up the wood yard as well. Mine can be turned forwards and backwards as well as angled to either side and also tilted which is great for creating or cleaning ditches. I would probably get a second battery and leave it on charge for fast swaps in the winter. I recently purchased a new one from Tractor Supply, the green farm and ranch model. Worth every penny it cost. Have a very blessed day!

Yes,yes, your new trailer needs to charge when plugged into your pickup. My Kabota L4400 came with a 22 cubic foot bucket 6 feet wide. I got a 44 cubic foot light duty bucket that is seven feet wide. I use it for other light duty like cleaning out straw and manure from cattle shed. Would work great for your cleaning up in the wood yard and splitting wood into it.Until you see one you don't realize just how much more you can do with them. Your can pile snow much higher also.

Had a plow on skid steer that hydraulic angled both ways. Good for long driveway. For larger wider areas around my farm not good. Sold it, now use large light material bucket works better. Need to be careful on sod that isn't froze easy to make a mess. For your situation I would want a snow pusher for wood yard. I have a little of everything when it comes to snow removal, for the tractor (kioti ck4010) my setup is 6ft snow pusher (tarter 34" mold board w/ rubber edge) also the 6ft hla 1500 series w/ metal edge (craigslist find w/ a price I couldnt pass up) and a 72" rear blade. I recommend the rear blade over anything else when starting off, especially for you, use this past video as an example, you can take the 1" of grease, do your driveway with the rear blade and as long as you dont drive on your windrow, you can take the blower and blow the crap further away in 1 or 2 passes vs the million you do just soley using the blower. As far as pushers, really like both of mine, the draw back is wet heavy stuff you kind of loose your steering, even in 4x4, but you can def move snow around real well after learning the limitations of the tractor and pusher, I dont recommend going wider then a 6ft pusher with your DK, also you may want to invest in tire chains for the woodyard, I have a nice set both front and back for mine, the fronts are a diamond type and can be taken on and off 8" and will chain all 4 tires when the forecast is >20" (nor'easter)

Nice video. I suggest charging the battery become daily routine in the colder months or just have a spare battery to change out. I predict a snow mountain somewhere in the woodyard, just be sure you put it somewhere where drainage won't be a problem when it melts. Use the trailer to move it. You could get a larger (material type) bucket for the tractor as snow isn't that heavy. Like firewood, with snow you want to limit the "touches". A snow blower on the tractor would be great, but without a heated cab you would regret it. GNI

Chris a plow is probably twice as much money as a pusher. If you get the pusher make sure it attaches to the loader arms and not to the bucket. Which ever you choose you have to be careful not to bend the loader arms. The amount of snow isn't a huge deal. The hardest push is the first one where the pusher or plow is pushing the full width, after that if the snow is deep you can take 2 feet at a time and by the time you get to the end of the push the pusher will be full. With a plow you'll have a hard time taking more then half the plow because the snow is going to move up the plow and fall off the trailing edge and you'll have to go back and clean up all the wind rows. The best setup would be a pusher on the front and a blower on the back. A blower gets rid of snow once and really shines the more snow you have. If you want to break the bank google inverted blowers. Regardless trying to push 12" of snow will be extremely hard with either a plow or pusher.

Oh where do I begin lol. First, there's no one perfect plow system. Many manufactures are making hybrid type plows but your talking commercial applications and anywhere from 6 to mid-teens (thousand) or more. I'd say in your situation a rubber edge push box would be best and if you get dumped on you'll have to either plow with the storm or just raise the box up a bit if your tractor struggles. Problem with a rubber edge is it wont scrape like a steel trip edge or snow blow does with they're metal cutting edge but it will be more forgiving in the wood yard. The most important thing to remember is you need a place for snow to go, you should see some of these parking lots we plow...all closed in with curbs and landscaping and no where for us to put snow easily. With your tractor you should be able to stack snow pretty high with a push box type. Dont buy a snow blower (in my opinion), the good ones are around 10k and the cheap ones are, well cheap lol and highly likely you damage it or replacing shear pins every 2 seconds in the wood yard.

Hey Chris, I have seen in a couple vids now that u move truckloads of wood to an area that u want to cut/split/stack it. Was curious if u ever thought about just keeping your dump trailer once you buy a new one, having and certain area that u just cut everything up and split into your older dump trailer and then u could bring it to stack wherever. Then u wouldn’t have the wasted time moving truckloads if the log truck can’t reach a certain area. Just curious if that would work for ur operation or not.

Depending on how much you want to spend, check out Kage snow plows you get a plow and a pusher. We run 3 of them for our commercial lot on our smaller skid loaders and loader. 6ft would fit your tractor I think.

Well since you asked. I use a rear blade on my Kubota MX6000 for snow in upstate NY. So we get lots of the heavy wet stuff. Before buying the rear blade I asked around and the common comment was use the power is in the rear pull rather than pushing. Also, great to hear a new trailer will be coming.

The dead battery made that load look like ten thousand pounds lol. I want to know what the best snow thing is too lol. I'm about to move to a snowy place. Doesn't the snow get heavy and stop you from pushing it, making your tires spin?

Get a snow pusher. Works a lot better than a blade and much easier to use. Put loader in float mode and start pushing It doesn’t wreck the lawn like a blade does. Spend the extra $500 and put fluid in tires for extra weight. If you get a huge snow fall that you can’t use pusher you just use the tractor bucket.

Don’t know why you don’t hook up your trailer to power whenever you hook up to your truck, that way your battery is always being charged while travelling. My vehicle has a 135 amp alternator, so it doesn’t take long to charge it. Most R V trailers use this system. Amazes me why people don’t do it this way on a dump trailer, manufacturers should wire this into the trailer. Looking forward to a new trailer for you. Anyway wishing you and your a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Alright I looked its a Jump N Carry 0770 that I bought. I think I paid $175 see they are as low as $165 on Amazon. Good thing to have. I would get one to leave in your truck so if your battery is weak or dies on the trailer you can just hook that jump box up and not have to do what you just did to get it unloaded. Thing works great. Haven't found anything I couldn't start with it even my tractor. I have used it plenty times to run the winch on my car trailers when those batteries have died on me. Well worth having around. They hold a charge a long time too just its pretty heavy think it says 23 lbs. They offer them in a bunch of colors too I got the bright orange so it would be easier for me to see then the navy blue and red and some of the other colors they offer it in think there is a high viz yellow they offer it in too.

I'm having a hard time recommending one over the other. I have a 9' Kage that I got for my tractor when I was doing a commercial property in the city, it's a hydraulic angle snow plow with a pusher box that clips on so I had the option of either whenever I wanted. I'm thinking for sheer simplicity, a pusher might be right for you, if you get a big storm or wet heavy snow you might have to start with the bucket to break it all up and then you could switch to the pusher to clean it up. A plow isn't a bad option but you will be chasing windrows especially if you're trying to carry snow to one area, but you should be able to clean up around edges better with a plow. Whichever you decide on I would be careful on getting something that's too big for the tractor. There's lots of details and variables, if you'd like to have a more in depth conversation let me know

I do commercial snow plowing and I know snow pushers for a skid steer that are 12' feet are about $5,000 plus. They work good and a plow that you can angle left or right might be more expensive because of the hydraulis

I just use my bulk material bucket on my skid steer. If you are plowing with gravel or dirt do not get a snow pusher or plow. The gravel eats the blades away and works the plow really hard to the point of breaking it.

Well Chris I know nothing about snow removal so I won't be able to help you spend your money. SORRY ABOUT THAT! One thing I do know about is dump trailers I have a few of them. One recommendation would be if you need 3 foot or 4 foot sides too get the cubic footage you need to get the amount of wood In the trailer to equal 4,5 or 6 face cords or whatever you want to be your maximum delivery amount get a trailer with the metal sides and doors already that height. It's way better than adding wood to make it that height and really didn't cost me that much more money and makes your load so much more secure for transporting down the road.

Get the plow. Pusher is great for a couple inches but if you angle it you will be 100percent faster. I've been plowing for 17 years. I convinced my boss to buy a blade 10 years ago and now he won't use a pull box or a pusher. At a difference of 12k per unit. Thats commercial snow removal. A box scraper is better than a pusher for everything except stacking and a blade is better than both. Guaranteed
