I have to get a few things straight here, the Rammstein song is called Wiener Blut, but this cruel act didn't take place in Vienna, but in a city called Amstetten in Austria and there were a few people in the media about this Josef Fritzl a few weeks ago reports that he is being transferred from the maximum security prison to a normal institution because many people were shocked because he has dementia and is 90 years old! There was a similar case almost at the same time, where a child was locked up for years and deprived of his freedom, even in a cellar like this! If you want to know more about this woman, enter (Natascha Kampusch) in Wikipedia and you can also read everything about Josef Fritzl! Greetings from Tyrol - Austria!

Making you uncomfortable is something that R+ and Till especially like to do. Making you face the worst of the human race and realise that - as the saying goes - they walk among us. This is almost certainly my favorite R+song beacause of the very fact that you feel so conflicted about the subject matter yet you're enjoying a totally awesome song. The human condition is an unending topic and one that Till sees the beauty in, but perhaps feels (without being quite as literal as the song Zick Zack), that there is no beauty without suffering. The song was performed with permission from the victims by the way - seeking permission is perhaps more than other performers would have done.

Tough subject to cover but that's what Rammstein does! Till is a lyrical genius..best in the business...they contacted the victim who gave them her approval of the song to get the message out about abuse...for me this is their best live song ever recorded...it's brutal in regards to it being a banger...once again Flake driving the ship with kick ass playing...Zeig Dich...Hollow man... Hallelujah are all controversial but brutal as well...P.S. there is abundant 22 tour material on KZbin...the Philadelphia concert is on RAMMSTEIN live recordings..it's fantastic..thanks for the reaction!! Missed you guys

Till is a poet and he writes about everything that moves him. He says that his theme is always love, even in its most depraved and terrible forms. He doesn't glorify J. Fritzl's actions in the song but instead tries to portray his sick world of thoughts. You also completely avoid any lighting effects or pyrotechnics. If such a case were made into a film, that would be fine and Rammstein is making a piece of music on the subject.

The music and the lyrics, combined with the power and intensity of Tills voice perfectly transport the horror of this whole story. I am from Austria and have followed the story in the media and still, when I heard this song for the first time, it felt like you got a punch into the stomach. Singing about the Darkness, the Loneliness, the Sadness .... and "how" he sings it, that makes you realize how terrible this must have been. It's one thing to read about this, but this song just smashed the whole horror directly into your face... at least for me. We may never forget that this happened and who knows if there aren't other people who are still kept in somebodies basement.

There are crime novels with chapters in which you delve into the disturbing world of the murderer's mind. It's scary, it gives you goosebumps and you still can't stop reading. Reading crime novels is accepted. But the Fritzl story is not fictional. It's real! It happened. Neither the neighbors, friends, family, nor his own wife had any idea that this monster lived among them. Rammstein dealt with this artistically, processed it and this song was created. It's a different level to listen to that instead of reading a book, right? Who else could perform a song like that on stage? Who actually has the courage to do that? The flood of information in the media has blunted many people, so that they hardly feel any empathy for suffering people. I think it's good to be really shaken up sometimes! Rammstein - thank you for your passion!

I love that they asked Elisabeth Fritzl if it would be okay to write a song about it beforehand. That is really respecting the victims. Till once said it is the task of music to make the dealing with the dark sides of life bearable. And that particular tale must be in public to make everybody aware of those things, to make everybody keep their eyes open to odd signs of something being not right.

I've noticed alot of the older metal/rock bands used to always throw the truth right in our faces, and many times we didn't understand it, but now looking back, it all makes sense. this is one of those examples of how a band uses their platform to inform the public as well as entertain them.

The media was full of this story. Radio, TV and Newspapers. But this is always very superficial. Artist like Till try to go deeper. The story is fucked up but forgotten when it is out of the news. Artist keep people in mind of bad things and try to put the emotional and physical aspect in front. I appreciate this. For example: We may (as a german) now nearly every fact about WWI. But to understand the horror of it, you need to see for example the painting "Der Krieg" from Otto Dix. Or today a very good made movie "All quiet on the western front" or the novel. It's no beautiful art. Not something nice to look at. But it touches. More than documentaries. And so i love this song very much.

Moin, Moin! 🙂 Yes, this is indeed a heavy and disturbing Song about a very sad Story. In any case, I think it's good that Rammstein b.z.w. Art in general takes on such topics, think of the Song "Rammstein" or "Mein Teil", which also keeps such Tragedies in Memory or. shows what People are capable of! Rammstein's Lyrics are certainly not light fare, but they hold up a Mirror to Society and rightly so! Zig Zack, Angst, Spring to Name but a few! Let me quote Rammstein with a line from the Song "Rosenrot": "You have to dig deep wounds if you want clear Water"! If you'd rather listen to Songs about Peace, Joy and Pancakes, Rammstein are the wrong Band for you. But Rammstein also make great music, I also listen to Bands from Poland (Riverside), Hungary (Korai Öröm), Yugoslavia (Bijelo Dugme), France (Taal, Zaz, etc.) whose Lyrics I don't understand but who cares, I just love great Music and I don't care where it comes from or what Genre it's from! Classical music is great too! (My English isn't great either, so when I listen to Songs I only understand a small part of them 😢) Greetings to both of you Michael 🙂

Why is it important to talk about such topics or write songs? Because there is enough ignorance in the world and everyone likes to look the other way. This is what made it possible for a perpetrator to torture his victim for over a decade. People need to be reminded of how horrible people are. Then it's harder to look away and ignore it. That being said, it is said that the victims are grateful for Till's songs. Others write books about it or make a film about it. That seems to be okay then, just don't write a song? Why? Because songs are easier to remember and memorable, unlike movies and books. Music keeps coming back.

Why? Because there is evil in the world and its easy to sweep it under the rug. We have to understand the nature of evil in order to defeat it. "Are you prepare?" "Although I Walk through the valley of death I shall fear no evil." Christ holds us... it's the only hope in such evil and absolute darkness... this is the point and message. This little girl suffered but there was always a flicker of hope and light... this is what we always have to hold onto.
