Now that's how a strat should be played! R.I.P Kurt Donald Cobain 1967-1994
@lithium4039
@lithium4039 2 ай бұрын
Jeez, can you imagine? That Cobain is dead for 30 years by now? Actually, he's dead for 30 years and nearly 6 months. But they did something monumental, changed the perception of music. Before Nirvana, such music never has been "mainstream". Nirvana did it, so their music entered the charts and was suddenly a mainstream phenomenon. And over 30 years after Cobain's tragical death we still talk about which version is the best. 30 years later Nirvana is still the most favorite band of so many people. And even for the next generations, the Generation Y and that Generation of Millennials (is there a Generation Z too? I don't know to be honest), even there are many guys and girls loving Nirvana. I think they did something very special. (Though, for me they wouldn't have been successful by being No. 1 in the charts. For me, it's not necessary for a band to be "mainstream". Actually, I don't like it if one of my favorite bands suddenly hits the taste of the mainstream. Because usually it leads to conformity, songs getting smoother, and they left behind what they wanted to do. Their convictions. Usually. But Nirvana didn't, see those great live records like Live at the Paramount, Live and Loud or Live at Reading. Or The Muddy Banks of the Whiskah. And In Utero wasn't more mainstream, they didn't adapt in order to sell more records. And everybody knows how Kurt hated it - the popularity, the paparazzo, the pressure, the "being famous" thing. He hated it. Finally, it was the drop making the levee break. I wish the musicians I like earn enough money to live a decent life. But I don't want them to "betray" their convictions and alter their music to be at top of the charts, to be a mainstream fan favorite. [Though I have to say I currently listen to bands - they release a LP with four songs and 40 minutes runtime. Instrumental mostly. (If anyone is interested in amazing, instrumental guitar work, I can highly recommend: - "Liquidacid - Acidosimeter" (EP) - "Speck - International Space Station Vol. II" (EP) - "Closet Disco Queen - Drink the Minibar - Live Recordings (Vodka Edition) (feat. The Flying Raclettes)" (LP) (8 songs, 46 min. runtime) - "Speck - Eine gute Reise" (LP) (4 songs, 45 min. runtime) - "The Space Spectrum - In Search of Drone Vol. II" (LP) (4 songs, 40 min. runtime) - "Psychedelic Source Records - This Is" (Full LP) (7 songs, 92 min. runtime) - "The Space Spectrum - In Search of Drone" (LP) (4 songs, 80 min. runtime :->) If vocals are important to you, then I recommend: - "Bardo Pond - Bufo Alvarius (2022 remaster)" (LP) (9 songs (actually 8 songs), 74 min. runtime) "Bardo Pond - Lapsed" (LP) (7 songs, 48 min. runtime) --> From "Lapsed" you gotta check out: Song 7: "Aldrin" --> that song is a masterpiece, giving me goosebumps. Really outstanding! Song 1: "Tommy Gun Angel" Song 5: Green Man But I have some other great bands as well. Hey, will you do me a favor, please? So it's different than Nirvana. But I always love to get back to Nirvana and enjoy their dystopian music. That raw voice, the melodies, the rhythms, bass-lines, drums, the chords. The dissonant tunes before playing in perfect harmony again. They will be never forgotten, aye? 🙂

Yeah I agree no doubt! This Endless Nameless has always been one of my favs thruout best recording/performances of the song. Paramount Theatre 10/31/91 up there too along w/Vancouver 10/30/91. Off the top of my head there’s a couple of others I haven’t seen mentioned yet. One of my personal favs is Roseland Ballroom in NYC 07/23/93. Right after Cobain’s voice starts breaking up, really going out on him at the end of the night during SLTS (in what sounds a bit humourous with the way he keeps trying to scream the 9 ‘Denials’ at the end of it, they then go right into Endless Nameless which is defntly one of the best. Even the feedback on that one is some of the best I’ve ever heard during any of the times they played it. One more I’d mention would be when they played it during the BBC sessions in September ‘91. That version and even the ‘Drain You’ they did during that session is no doubt right up there at/near the top, no question!

Well hmm let’s see now... the verses and chorus, the sound, after the two verses and chorus there’s long experimental feedback that Cobain always tries to amuse himself with before maybe destroying whatever guitar he may be playing. And well, there’s only 1 of their songs thruout the entire Nirvana catalogue of music that was played at the end of their shows that sounded or played anything even close to this. So besides all that...? Hmmm idk how do we know it’s Endless Nameless?!
