Maybe they should drop the point systems. There is just to different of riding styles to even compare and rate these riders on the same scale. Maybe only giving out awards for different achievements is the way to go. It's just to awesome of an event to be ruined by a broken scoring system.

Wow what an amazing event this year Godzike deserves a higher score than a 86 he deserves a 90 just for that 75ft Canyon flip in memory of Kelly I cannot believe Brandon got best trick what is so special about a caveman Sam pilgrim does them in every video near enough however flipping a canyon gap not something you do every day I don’t think even Bender would do that and he’s probably the craziest free rider on the planet
@conord5043
@conord5043 2 жыл бұрын
It was a massiv caveman in combination with the following super loose and steep downhill on a singlecrown. Not saying the canyon gap wasn't deserving of a price... But you're downplaying an absolutely crazy send.
@ashleytombs
@ashleytombs 2 жыл бұрын
@@conord5043 Yeah I’ll give him that but if it was a 30 foot drop then yeah but the 75ft Canyon gap no room for error the consequences you come up short on that you are dead end of the caveman you can probably get away with it give Brendan his dues for doing rampage on a singlecrown I think over the years that will become the norm because Enduro bikes nowadays are just that good but there is nothing like hitting a 60ft + gap on a DH bike I think without rampage And downhill racing you don’t really need a DH bike

@@ashleytombs Bro, what the hell are you even talking about? 😂 Of course Bender is not able to do a flip over a canyon. I don’t see why he should be able to do them in the first place. Bender was mainly known for his insane hucks. I even doubt that he is able to do a flip at all. So now to the consequences. You can’t compare the risk of these two. Of course you can come up short on the canyon flip, or over shoot it, but you still land somewhat „safe“. Whereas dropping into the chute with a caveman is made for things going wrong. Of course pilgrim can do them, but in this situation you can‘t slip a pedal. If you miss your handlebar/pedal you are done. Basically freefall all the way to the bottom. For me the most impressive trick & technical trick was reeds backflip drop. This thing was huge and he had almost no lip to initiate the rotation
@ashleytombs
@ashleytombs 2 жыл бұрын
@@felixghaffar9604 yeah FairPlay on The Bender part but still he’s probably crazy enough to do it anyway lol and yeah on Brendan yeah you could slip a pedal and then you’re doomed I think Dylan stark just about made the gap I think he did come up a little bit short but made it over just and on reed yeah to be fair that was insane I couldn’t believe it myself to be honest How on earth that never best trick I do not know and the first person To do that trick was Sam pilgrim and big respect for the Long ass reply

someone please explain to me, the second Run was canceled because of the wind? Shouldn't we wait any longer for the wind to calm down? the second Run is always crucial, the riders give 100% because it's the last chance, the millions of spectators all over the world and the riders wait a year. in 2009 during a MotoGP race in Qatar, the race was postponed to the next day due to heavy rain, we are talking about MotoGP with its mega logistics.
@fergusward4714
@fergusward4714 2 жыл бұрын
I think the wind tends to be more gentle in the morning than the afternoon out there so when they were waiting for their second runs they were waiting for a lull in the wind rather for it to generally die down. I’m just glad that the event was moved forward by an hour so they all got to attempt one run before it got too bad.
@JoseOjedaMTB

Ditch the judging. Altogether. Maybe do a riders favorite, where competitors pick the winner, like a mini NORA cup thing. I don't understand if you're not participating at contemporary level - how can you effectively judge, regardless of past accomplishments. But I get it, the "there must be a winner" thing is very "America", so... (Even though it's quite an international event). Either way and ultimately props to everyone who put in the work to make it happen and the riders. Always a treat to watch. (Shame on you for not giving a shout to Kyle Strait though. Unpopular opinion...... This Ramage was less then stellar. Builds felt rushed and the whole bottom of the venue, leading to the coral, felt unfinished.... Which is strange for a venue that is well used. On that note.... Time to find something different for Rampage... The same Utah bluffs are getting tired, move on to somewhere else.... Time for new judges, some of them have been judging for the entirety of the event.... New perspectives are needed... They clearly favor ridge lines, which are basically a flow trail, as opposed to actual mountain riding.... Also this one, I'm gonna get flamed for... Godziek's run was quite boring.... The canyon gap has been done to death... Scoring point on nostalgia isn't progression... Plenty of other runs, that where far superior IMO..... Basically... Time for Rampage as a whole, to restructure if it's to stay relevant, in today's MTB.... Keeping in mind this opinion is coming from a diehard Rampage fan, since the first one.... Rama0ge sucked this year....

I don't know where evaluators have been taken from for years. But probably from a round-up at a gas station. As every year, a terrible inconsistency in the assessment. And with this wind it is also quite an exaggeration. Swinguit guys somehow had no problems with it. And the more so because when the guys definitely gave up, it was practically not windy. More "journalists" talking and fucking the same thing over and over again than driving.
