Gaming Pastime reviews Rampage: Total Destruction for the Nintendo GameCube.
Developed by Pipeworks Software and published by Midway Games, Rampage: Total Destruction was released for the Nintendo GameCube in April, 2006. This is the latest entry in the Rampage series and it changes things up significantly but not all of the changes are for the better.

Some minor things I wanted to bring up. First off king of the city or world isn't exclusively multiplayer based, you can set your opponent to a cpu. Also this is really minor but crush doesn't do anything towards buildings, only things like tanks and bosses, so monsters that are based around the crush stat like croc and rocky end up being pretty bad.

The cut scenes look like they were animated by the same team that made Jimmy Neutron. Also, I remember wanting this game when it came out. Its a bummer the monsters are really only different cosmetically. Each monster in Universal Tour had different stats and a unique special move, though that was probably a lot easier with 7 characters.

Giant monsters, mass destruction, Schwarzenegger references, sounds like my kind of game. On a more serious note, have you played any of the Godzilla games done by the same studio responsible for Total Destruction?

You can config an Xbox controller in total destruction, the motion controls commands on my controller were; up and down on the right stick was down smash, right trigger was grab/whined up punch and it worked really well.

This game was fun... but when you get to the later cities, the flaws of the gameplay shine brighter, like how your character controls like a tank when it comes to turning, and sometimes its annoyingly hard to focus on a target on the ground like tanks and soldiers, When you get something good or bad your monster does a whole animation that you can still be bombarded meanwhile; I swear I've eaten items and wound up with less health because of being attacked (and I'd swear there's a glitch in there somewhere where a huge chunk of your life can just vanish from random attacks.) It was a fun game though, and this review was on point about it. I hope to see another next gen rampage or rampage inspired game one day. Maybe with less flaws and with cooler monster designs like back on universal tour. Feels like a series that hasn't hit its peak just yet.

Wish you could pick up tanks and troop carriers and SWAT trucks and aircraft and throw them around like the cars.
