Hey Ethan, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. Keep up the great content man.
@trevormcmichael14002 жыл бұрын
Hey Ethan, really enjoy the videos! Quick thought on the Qh,9s,8h,2h,7h board. Seems you narrowed his range to moderate value such as one pair holdings by the river due to the quick turn call and his call of your check raise on the flop. I think this would make you want to turn your hand into a bluff on the river when a fourth heart comes out. Either he had a pocket pair so there is a 50% chance he holds a heart in his hand, or he had a pair by matching one card on the flop. If he paired the Q, then his Q is not a heart, so only 25% chance his other card is a heart. Since he 3 bet, not sure how many combos of hands he has that hold a nine and are off suit. And similarly not sure how many combos of hands he has that hold an 8 and are off suit. Anyway, even if his range was just pocket pairs, that is only a 50% chance of a heart so a bluff of 2/3rds pot would be pretty effective. As we add more queen combos the bluff becomes more profitable. Again, love the videos, keep crushing!

@rampage A nuts and bolts question because I see it happen a lot (including the 9-10hh hand early in this video) - Is that an error in your hand notes when you record the audio or just a misspeak? I figure you write yourself a script of sorts (even a rough outline) before you record but you don't always get your hand right. In this vid, you say open-ended when you're not...changes the actual type of action in some cases (I paused so I don't know how it ends after the $500 and I'm not gonna edit). Love your vids, keep on keepin' on.

Are you letting opponents know your decision for running it multiple times BEFORE they decide to call?
@EfficientRVer2 жыл бұрын
Sure looks that way. If they let that affect their decision, they are generally making a mistake, because the EV is the same no matter how many times you run it. But there admittedly are cases where it will prevent them from making a mistake also, if they're in a spot financially where they NEED lower variance to make a correct call, because they are unwilling to gamble it all on one runout. If you've got the nuts, offering to let them run it twice (or more) if they want, is actually a great idea to induce a call, although it also shows a lot of strength and in that sense might induce a fold! I'd want to think very carefully about their view of my table image before making the offer, for that reason.
@Optable2 жыл бұрын
@@EfficientRVer Correct. However depending on the texture, implied odds may well be just slightly in your favor, or just slightly against it depending what we put villain on, with each brick/bink card drastically changing equities along with the card removal properties. Too many times I've hit my front door second nut flush on the turn and ran it twice into a board pairing or the 4th card to the suit and chop up against the boat or ace flush. With the card removal, yeah this is such a slight % change, however how many 51/49 or 55/45 "flips" do we play anyways? If i don't have the nut flush I will run it once, but it comes down to correct hand reading to begin with. However, absolutely none of this applies to running it twice all-in preflop. Only with realized equity do I consider it

It was bad not to bet the set on the flop. It was HORRIFIC to not bet the set on the turn. What was the plan at that point, a turn check raise? That looks too strong, gives you too much unwanted "fold equity" when you're looking to bloat the pot rather than scare people out. A donk lead is much, much better, they will think/know you could be taking a stab at buying the pot with any two cards. In the QQ hand, I had the player in position on likely KK, maybe AA, and the blind likely on TT, maybe JJ. You easily could have been in 3rd place. It's not at all surprising that you were in 2nd place. What were you hoping for, that they BOTH had JJ, AND that you'd get paid off? Seems pretty unlikely to me. You paid a fair amount of money to find out you were behind. But not enough money that you had to ignore the answer and get the rest of the money in behind anyway.

I have to say I don't like some of the plays you made. The J9 hand: I don't like the check-raise on the flop at all. Your opponent isn't going anywhere with most of their range. You're only in good shape against AK without a heart. The problem with check-raising is how to navigate turns that aren't good for you. If you had just called, you could've had more options on the turn; or blasted the river. The QQ hand is tougher, but the most likely hands for the SB to have are tens and jacks, and they're certainly not folding tens. Although I don't like the button's play with KK just calling multi-way, I have to say I saw it coming. Thought it was more likely to be aces though.
