Nice job Ethan I am very happy to have seen you play and run deep in a tournament and not unravel going into the later stages of the tournament ,with that being said that was a absolutely disgusting river ace but you made the right decisions all vlog through and you should be very proud of that and unfortunately as you know kings always seem to attract the dam ace cards!!! I feel your pain man! I made it to the final 2 tables out of 700 players. Was in 3rd place as far as chip stack. Got rivered 3 times in a row and finished in 19th. Such a bummer after grinding for 2 days. And then found out they chopped 10 ways 😢 if I knew that I probly would’ve just sat and waited for the final table but I was going for the win. Oh well. That’s poker lol it can be a roller coaster but I love it!
@ScripcaLiviuE2 жыл бұрын
I don't understand that way of chopping fr. I was 18yo new in town my first tourney, last 5, chip leading. It was pretty late so I was somehow convinced to chop getting a nice score. After this I only chopped in last 2/3. So I guess when people chop 50 ways, a kiddo is chip leading and the regs are voting against so he agrees just to not be that dude who rejects it. How this thing works around the world, especially US?

Hey man, I think in that hand Vs Elio fox you should shove river as a bluff, like you said, you have all of the King x, pocket kings, KQ etc etc, the only king x he has that plays this way is king Jack and when he checks river he sort of gives that up as a hand he could have. Obviously he does have a straight but with K Q and kings just smothering your range completely I think a lot of the time he lays J 8 down here, especially if he doesn’t know you and isn’t sure if you are a reg. this is just a passing thought and you are the pro not me so not trying to act all smart I just think he never has any kings with his line and your range heavily benefits to the Jack on the river giving a 4 liner. My apologies if my line of thinking is wrong here
@KevinGannets2 жыл бұрын
I have a question as someone who plays poker very casually. Wouldn't folding KK be a better move when covered? I understand 95%+ of the time its too strong to fold but in this exact moment where you're in the money, made it to day 3 which is extremely difficult, $900,000 is up for grabs AND any single 1 card (any Ace) beats you? I totally get it with him running absolutely insane I was rooting for him the whole way through especially because this is the casino I play at the most but I feel like maybe shipping here with this exact situation isn't ideal? of course people are going to say "but what if he won the hand?" he would have a monster stack size and continue on but thats not what happened. I'm sure he would've been a lot happier in the hotel with a top 10 finish. Maybe my thinking is why he has a cash finish in this event and I am watching it on KZbin tho 😂
@MHGFTW2 жыл бұрын
The blinds are 25K and his stack is 660K, so he only has around 26BBs. If he sits out for just a little longer, the blinds will probably go up to 30K, and he'll only have around 20BBs by then. If he doesn't even play lings, he's going to get bleed out sooner rather than later. Also ask yourself what the button jams with. He's trying to take the blinds. Is he ever doing that with aces (the only hand that has kings beat)? Probably not... so then what, Ak, maybe AQ, or AJ? Something like that, or maybe a lower pair like 10s? All of these are calls. Even if you have a decent chance of being against one overcard. You can't sit out in these types of tournaments and expect to make it to the final table that way. If you're at 40 players, you can't make it to top 8 by sitting out. The average stack will go x5 by then...
@KevinGannets2 жыл бұрын
@@MHGFTW Appreciate the response. I totally get what you're saying about the button jam and the hands you mentioned after. Its a shame that it didn't hold or suckout like the previous all ins would've loved to see him take down the tournament
@MHGFTW2 жыл бұрын
@@KevinGannets Yeah, for sure. Issue is that the money is generally very top heavy. You want to play for the win, and not just the nearest pay jump. Sometimes you'll go out while you could have made the next pay jump, but the idea is that you would have won that 2 out of 3 times or better, and those times, you're playing for a final table. This KK vs A5 suited is roughtly a 2 to 1 favorite, so a clear call. KK vs AK unsuited is actually even better for the KK, 70% of the time you'll win. Also consider that if you never call, not even with KK, the people sitting on your direct right will pick up on that. They'll start bleeding you dry. You need to have a range of cards where you just call and cross your fingers. KK is 100% in there. Another thing to consider is that the button could be jamming light, hoping to pick off the blinds. People do sometimes with 10J suited, or KQ, stuff like that. 10J, 10Q , QJ you'd have 80+% against. KQ, KJ, K10, you'd have 90+% against. KK is just that strong. Every scenario you're 2 to 1, 4 to 1 or even 9 to 1 favorite. Worst case, they have the ace overcard, and you need to fade it. Can't be scared of that. How would AA play from the button? Would they actually jam and get folds, just picking up the blinds? They would more than likely do a regular raise, maybe just call to be a bit tricky. I've also seen people do some weird 4BB raise, to induce a jam, or get a big pot going, but that also risks folds.
@KevinGannets2 жыл бұрын
@@MHGFTW At this specific location (and others around it) people play poker very differently than i’m used too up north. I could very easily picture someone jamming the button with AA not because of thought process or skill, but just idiotic players aha I got a lot more success from tournaments up north than down here
@MHGFTW2 жыл бұрын
@@KevinGannets Take solace is the fact that those players are missing out on masive chip increases a lot of the time, because they get people to fold. 95% of the time people have hands they wouldn't play. The only hands that are calling button jams are quite premium, so 95% of the time these people are getting the bare minimum from their premium hand. When you have aces, you actually want people to NOT fold. Jamming rarely gets a call.
