This game would be great to play in mainstream tournaments, like MLG and all of those other tournaments.

These guys lack some basic fundamentals of building and placing. Never place too many canons, you will run out of place to put blocks (especially the dreaded huge ugly shaped ones). Try and avoid placing any walls or canons too close to edges (1 lil pot shot and you can be screwed to replace it with only a 1 spot block). Use your own canons to clean your base up if you need to, but don't forget to shoot a couple at the enemy. Shoot the enemy in spaced out patterns, and aim for hard repair spots.

Also the Game allows hot air balloons to capture enemy cannons and Heavy bombard that create unconstructable places

Watching this brings back so much anxiety. Seeing blue capture castles like mad instead of thickening up his current walls was so hard to watch. I was the same way when I first played. Since theres a fixed time to repair, the bigger your castle the harder it will be to seal and that was blue's downfall every time.

While I wouldn't say I was playing correctly, considering I lost, it's worth noting that I still was getting the highest castle bonuses, which would have made me the winner if I had actually survived to the end of the final round. I was ok with dying the first two times in a game, since it lets you continue, but I did want to survive to the end, where I could have actually taken advantage of how many points I had. I am sure there were times I should have just tried to grab a new castle to survive instead of rebuilding.

I never understood the different canon types, IIRC you could actually kill canons with like 10 hits or something? Were the other 2? types of canons stronger in defense?

Mike MacDuffee there was a 'fire' cannon that had a slower ROF (I think) but it did permanent 'fire' damage where it hit, your opponent couldn't build there. A great way to put permanent holes in their battlements. You could kill cannons with twenty or more shots, it's only really possible to do this during a round once you have eight or so cannons of your own. At the end credits you can decapitate your opponent by pressing the fire button.

I didn't watch through the whole video to see if he seems slower or not, but from what I saw, he seemed the same speed as the other players. If he really did build slower, it would probably be because it's not always easy to use the pieces the game gives you.

You would need the emulator MAME++ 0.119 and the rom, which is called "rampart.zip" and "rampartj.zip". I have heard that the website vizzed also has netplay for arcade games like this, but I have never used it, so I can't recommend it.

the blue guy knows how to play except I would have been aiming at there cannons if you aim in the middle of 2 cannons it destroys both at the same time

A good strategy against a "cannon whore" is to shoot a ton of single holes in his wall, especially if it's near the edge of the screen or water. It's a lot more time-consuming to patch that kind of damage up, waiting for the single block (which never seems to come).

No offence blue but sometimes you build your forts kinda derpy.....you keep tying yourself up with big castles & cannon-overkill.. Red understands the bigger picture...

While that is true that I killed myself in doing that, the reason was because you get more points by covering the most territory and having the biggest castle. Notice at the end of the first game, I had the most points. I would have won if I had actually survived, so I should have built something small around the top left area instead of trying to rebuild the whole castle. That said, I don't think I always make the right moves in this game, but that should explain why I did it that way.
