Definitely an interesting video into the history of this very formal dress code. Also, probably the sharpest ensemble I’ve seen Austin wear on this channel. (Chris always looks smashing!) Thanks for today’s offering of knowledge.

In the US we call that a cutaway. Informally it is sometimes referred to as a "clawhammer coat."

Thank you for sharing that! It's interesting to learn the different terms used for morning dress.

Isnt the jacket called a stroller made od barrathea?
@chrismodoo65632 ай бұрын
It could be…usually herringbone or a plainweave in England.

Is the slip also starched?
@bigbademperor2 ай бұрын
Lightly, but not like the collar I think
@chrismodoo65639 күн бұрын
No….the slips are not starched. They have a light fusible interlining and heavy laundering/starching could cause shrinkage or delamination. Thanks for the question.

The problem with morning dress in the United States is there really isn't a time or place to wear it.Otherwise I wold have a closet full of them. Maybe at the horse races or a wedding but that's the only occasions I can think of.
@badgasaurus42117 ай бұрын
And the issue with weddings in the US is that most people don’t stipulate a dress code and so everyone just rocks up in the smartest outfit they have and often that isn’t even a suit. Odds are if you went to most weddings now a-days in the US you would end up being better dressed than the groom which is an absolute no.
@w44477 ай бұрын
That is so true. My first wedding was outside in a park and a Bad Hawaiin Shirt attire. I'm guilty on that too.

Which shirtmaker was used for this video?
@chrismodoo65637 ай бұрын
My shirt is made-to-measure from Berg in Poland. The shirt on the mannequin is an old TM Lewin one but you can get this style ready-made from Budd.

Morning Dress is antiquated attire relegated to certain rarified atmospheres where themematic costuming is called for.
@RampleyandCo7 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your perspective! While morning dress may seem outdated to some, we believe it holds timeless elegance and a sense of tradition that can be appreciated in various settings.

Exactly why and when and where and who is wearing this in the morning?
@Hondo01017 ай бұрын
Easter would work. Christmas day. New years day as well.

Weddings. This is the proper daywear for a formal wedding, not a dinner jacket (“tuxedo”).

@@badgasaurus4211 you are 1000% correct. I hate seeing tuxedo's in a day wedding.

I LOVE your videos but I cannot stand the music. Can you please lose the cheesy stock music! Your content is far too high of a caliber to debase it with that corny music.
