Schleich horse lover 9,000 the strap dose not hurt them it just annoys them and they buck to get it off if it hurt them they would be making loud noises it might hurt them if it’s not done right but the people at rodeos are trained so it doesn’t

The flank strap is used to encourage the horse to kick out straight and higher when it bucks. It's covered in sheepskin or neoprene and it fastens behind the widest part of the abdomen. If the flank strap hurts the horse it wont perform. It doesn't hurt the horse in no way shape or form.

I would never put a metal bit in a horse's mouth because I that it can be bad treatment for them, lead to health problems and they just are not necessary. I also would never ever house a horse in a barn stall. If they are young enough to ride then they need to be in a large pasture with other horses free to roam the pasture together. They are herd animals and keeping them isolated is like solitary confinement is to humans. All perceptions are relative to an individual's personal experience. Where there is no experience there will be plenty of ignorance. So there you go!

Rodeo animals are super fit and healthy. If they are injured or sick they won't perform and they receive veterinary care to get them healthy and fit again. Every horse I've seen in a rodeo looks very well cared for.
