Competitive team sorting is hard to do! It’s a blast, and I think both the horses and the riders enjoy it. In fact, the horses really get into it, once they understand what’s expected. However, there are about 1000 different kinds of mistakes that you can make while sorting that many calves in such a short period of time. So it is endlessly challenging, even when you’re working with another rider that you know . At lots of competitions, you end up pairing up with a rider you’ve just met, which makes it all the more fun and challenging at the same time. Thank you for sharing this. I could watch it all day!

Sorting was interesting...a little cutting.....driving and all while being timed! Had never seen it before. Nice to see Hensen jumping in and giving it a go! Getting horses that he trains out and about is good! The barrel racing, too, is a great way to show what your horses and training are all about!

Henson did very well 👏, maybe he has to shout a little more...🤔😁? Thank you, that was fun! I think Henson did a great job for first time, young horse and not knowing his partners. I think I would rather rotate cattle than being the one to go into the herd after each cow. Great Job!

20:32...I was waiting for this to come up. Almost anyone I know who pushes cows, besides on the weekend in an arena, says the same thing about sorting. There is no clock when moving cows out in the pasture.

This was fun to watch Henson do something out of the ranch☺ I manage a private barn and my boss has 3 quarters that she does sorting on. In the winter she takes them to Florida and sorts all winter down there and brings the boys back home to Michigan in the spring.

OMG I've seen this, something like this, before when visiting my nephew on a massive ranch in australia, they called it Camp Drafting and go crazy for it there. Though they definitely do it a lot slicker, with no hollering. Those Aussie Stockhorses don't have the muscles of our Quarter Horses but they sure are darn cowie and work those cattle well. Good on Henson for trying something Aussie put another shrimp on the barbie mate.

I’ve seen the ranch sorting at the Oklahoma’s cattlemen association ranch rodeo and it looks like fun. Think Henson needs to try out the wild cow milking if they ever have something like that out there.

Danielle, you need to try Ranch Sorting as well. Fair warning...it is a drug, YOU WILL GET ADDICTED! Henson is true evidence of that. I've been doing this and team penning for about 24 years and I still have so much fun at it. Both my wife and I compete in it. Henson did great for the 1st time. We do it during the winter down in the valley when we come down for the winter. We attended the event produced by the same folks as your show in Queen Creek last December at Horseshoe Park. You are correct...they are long days. I think there is a show or two in Prescott as well sometime in the year. Get in touch with me if you want to come down to the valley this winter, we can team up.
