Killer vid, Marty!! And killer song. One of my Top 3 or 4 all-time Van Halen songs, and I am a VH Freak!!! I fell in love with this song the very first time I ever heard it, and honestly... it knocked me over like a steam-roller. Total game-changer for me, as was the 5150 record. Van Halen changed my life when I first heard them with Roth. And they changed it again, when Hagar entered the picture. Man I love this song!! And I am still blown away, all these years later... with how the master, Edward, was able to marry the Keyboards with the electric guitar. Still never heard anything quite like it... all these years later. Unbelievable.

I’m not the hugest VanHalen with Hagar era fan and I’m ashamed to admit that I couldn’t remember what Dreams sounded like but the intro solo and it’s ok yeah that’s another iconic Eddie lick even on the more synth driven songs he still put some interesting guitar in there too . I prefer DLR era but I my uncle introduced to Van Halen around the time I started playing via For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and I still love Eddies guitar tone on that one as much nearly as VHI and VHII it’s a more matured tone for sure but man the SLO 100 and the detune is so good and I dig the singles off that album too Poundcakes my favorite. Anyway rambling on even when I think Dreams? Nah I don’t think I want to learn anything from that one and then the first thing you do oh yeah I’m hitting pause on the tabs lol .
@Ranch5150SkinWalker2 жыл бұрын
Lol. Great comment man! I love the Hagar era! But love Roth stuff equally too. So many great songs. I think this album resonates with me because it came out when I was about to turn 16 and that was a pivotal year for me. Good times!!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker yeah I get it you are a few years older than me but the stuff I got into from around 13 to 18 years old is really still some of my favorites, I missed the glorious 80s by a few years, but I always loved the music, but it wasn’t cool to be into Cinderella, Skid Row and even really Van Halen even though everyone knew Eddie was the king back then. The closest I could come was getting my friends to jam some GNR with me. Years later I was having an acoustic drinking session on my front porch and had been on a Heartbreak Station kick my friend who I’d played guitar with since 14 was like did you make that up? I’m like no I wish I did it’s Cinderella. He laughed and said I never got into them because of they were glam and had a stupid name lol . I said nah man they ain’t glam and then showed him Bad Seamstress Blues and he was blown away. These guys kick ass they’re kinda like Guns N Roses. I’m like exactly man. He said I wonder why they weren’t bigger they should’ve been like Guns and Aerosmith. I say because people listen with their eyes and they were packaged as “glam metal” I’m glad the rest of the world is finally catching up with what we’ve always known 80s hard rock is the best hard rock and metal. I still can’t believe the mullet is back though?

@@brandonjackson5865 I loved heartbreak station man! And Long Cold Winter. I think some people couldn't get past the screeching vocals on the first two albums. But I loved it. I still catch Keifer playing from time to time since he's a Nashville resident. I know some of his band members! Lol. 80's we're glorious man. No doubt. Great songs, times and what a lot of fun all around. Things were a bit simpler then. ☮️

As someone who grew up on alternative, I get the issues some of the older folks who grew up in the 80’s have specifically on the guitar end. I think a lot of the vocalists blew it for the guitar guys when I do my own look back. I would never call GnR a hair band though. 😂 If anything that was the first real shot that exposed the weaknesses of that era, weaknesses the Seattle guys pounced on. At least Balance ended up being a much grittier album because some of the 80’s stuff died out.
@Ranch5150SkinWalker2 жыл бұрын
@@ryanfraley7113 yeh man. And you know the 90's stuff was a welcome breath of fresh air. 80's metal had really outworn its welcome by 1991 - 1992. The industry needed a change. I still love all the great 80's bands. But I loved so much of the 90' stuff too.
