The new Silvia upgrade now known as the Rancilio Silvia Pro X … is VERY INTRIGUING! The Pro X may be my next espresso machine ($1,870)! Looking at this machine, as well as the Profitec Pro 700 ($2,979), the El Rocio Zarre V2 ($3,750) and on the high end … the Eagle Prima One from Victoria Arduino ($5,990).

The Rancilia Silvia Pro is more than twice the price of a normal Silvia. Another let down the vibration pump makes a lot of noise. To adjust the boiler pressure is very laborious. Again the diptray is very clumsy. The steamwand isn't insulated. Limited pre infusion. At this price tag I am expecting both more improvements and refinements.

silvia pro over a lelit Elizabeth or a profitec pro 300?? Elizabeth has a ton of features.
@TheD3luxee
@TheD3luxee 3 жыл бұрын
Its true that the Elizabeth has many features and its a dual boiler, but i would not go with it because the build quality is bad. All pipes inside the elizabeth are plastic pipes.. just search for "lelit elizabeth inside" on google and view the pictures. The Silvia Pro and Profitec are build with better quality and almost all pipes are made of metal. The difference could be found in the details of the pid / control electronic, i don't know all features of both machines but it could be a difference there. Otherwise its the look, the price is almost the same here. But if you really looking for a machine, there are tons of videos and reviews for all three machines. But i would always compare dual boiler with dual boiler, and not dual boiler and heat exchange.. And if a machine is cheap or more expensive, there is always a reason for it.
@acacia987
@acacia987 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheD3luxee i agree comparing HX and DB is strange in general. The other machines (silvia/pro300) seem a little more organized inside. The biggest diff among these three seem to be that the silvia pro has dual pumps. I don't see the problem with using "plastic" (silicone) over copper since brew boiler is over the group. As with how the boiler material changed, i think you will see the same in tubing over time since its so much easier/cheaper to work with.

I’ve had my Appartamento for about 3 months now and while I enjoy using it, I really would consider something else with the knowledge I have now. It’s not a bad machine, but I’m wanting things that would help me brew better and give me a better experience overall. I’d highly suggest something with a PID because that will make a world of a difference. I’d also consider something that is plumbable in the future. I have a thermometer in my grouphead but it sure does take a lot of flushing (pretty wasteful use of water) and learning your HX machine (Appartamento) to get the right temps. One other thing I don’t like is how the metal is not rolled in the Appartamento. You can easily cut yourself all around the drip tray and different areas of the machine if you’re not careful. If you can stretch your budget a bit more, I’d look at what ECM or Profitec has to offer, consider the Lelit Mara X, and again, a PID is really really helpful/recommended IMO. I am pretty much a noob as my experience is limited but you quickly figure it out and with the Appartamento it might leave you feeling like you want more. All that aside, I do love how it looks, the espresso I can pull, and the durability of the machine. If you choose an Appartamento, I’d really consider getting an E61 grouphead thermometer! Otherwise, it’s like driving with a blindfold on as temps can change quite dramatically in the grouphead and you might not be able to pull the most consistent shot, shot-to-shot. Hope this helps and you find the right machine for you :)

Surprisingly hard to find, and even harder for parts. When making my decision I deliberately imagined certain parts had broken, and tried ordering replacements... Couldn't find the parts for any of the machines on my short-list, inc the Silvia Pro (because its so new) but EVERYWHERE that sells coffee machine parts seems to stock parts for Rancilio Silvia, so I'm pretty confident they'll be there when I need them. I just couldn't say that about Lelit or Profitech, ECM or others I looked at.

So if your cafe is lil bit more busy, find espresso machine that had pump rotatary, but if your cafe is not that busy, I think both of this is great.

It’s not really possible for a smart plug to fry your machine. There are no transformers in the plug so there’s no change or possible change in voltage. More than likely the smart plug will fail closed anyways. Also I don’t think it’s fair to consider someone using a heat exchanger as not a “coffee nerd”. A heat exchanger with a PID is really accurate as measured by whole latte love etc.

@@Todd.T I'm curious how the water flow rate will affect the temperatures? I'd think (and John from Decent mentioned this in a video about his machine, which works differently though) if you have slower flow of water, temperature would gradually cool down since it's not getting as much hot water from the boiler as quick as usual (or heat exchanger in this case). Or is it because the group head tends to overheat when sitting idle it would stay hotter with lower flow? I'd think it wouldn't make too much of a difference, and these two factors might counteract eachother and help keep temps relatively stable maybe.
