If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you are well aware that my favorite movie of all-time is Braveheart. So, when I had the chance to have a conversation with the man who wrote the movie, Randall Wallace, I jumped on it.
Today, Randall and I talk about the timeless messages for men found in the movie, how and what sacrifices must be made to achieve our goals, how to qualify other men who can serve as your band of brothers, discovering something that calls deeply to you, and ultimately, how we too can live our lives with the courage and bravery conveyed in the life of William Wallace and Braveheart.

Mr. Randal Wallace ... I first read Braveheart and fell instantly in love with it !!! Historic novels have always been my favorite. My Father and I used to go to the movies every month or so together and it was his turn to pick a film. It was Braveheart. And while I desperately wanted to see it, I wasn't a big fan of Mel Gibson at the time. Nor could I see how your short novel could be turned into a 3 hour film. Needless to say, I fell in love with the movie and hats off to Mel Gibson. I loved this historic epic so much that I dragged anyone who would go see it with me. When relatives and friends ran out ... I went alone. 25 times I've seen it on the big screen !!!!! Until it was no longer showing on theatres. And that's no where close to how many times I rented it at the local video store !!! I reserved it so many times the store actually gave me a cardboard life size promo of William Wallace... A smaller one and all the posters if I would stop reserving the movie. I agreed. And to my surprise they even kicked in the vhs movie !!! A Braveheart shrine was born including the soundtrack. I continued to watch this gem until momhood took over but to this day I watch it twice a year read your novel once a year. I lost count at 76 watches in the day but I believe it must be in the high 100s. Something about the story just resonated with me inexplicably. The characters The love story The losses And glories The fight for freedom His moral compass His bravery and courage along side witty conversations and one liners It was the perfect movie. Thank you for bringing so much joy from such a great little novel to an epic visual. The only other movie that has come close is The Last of the Mochicans Of which I've seen only 91 times lol Well done on writing an amazing screenplay 🙂 I suppose I should be embarrassed but I'm not. I know every line pause and scene by heart ♥️ I

"Every man dies, but not every man truly lives." This quote pushed me to finally enter into the ministry 3 years ago. Now I'm in my 3rd year internship and it is really difficult. But no regrets! In seminary we have guys wishing there was a modern day depiction of the 10 commandments. Mr. Wallace???

At 8:49 Mr. Wallace commented that he loves the Bible so much, in part, because of how the stories resonate across time and their everlasting power. As a student of the Bible and speaking with others who wonder what such old writing can mean for us today in such modern times, I say read Romans 15:4, 4, For all the things that were written beforehand were written *for our instruction*, so that through our endurance and through the *comfort from the Scriptures* we might have hope. 1Cor. 10:11, 11,Now these things happened to them *as examples and *they were written for a warning to us* upon whom the *ends of the systems of things have come*.(1Tim.3:1-4) Knowledge is power. I love Braveheart, have for years. The music is both a hug of comfort and a desperate squeeze of the heart by one who is clinging to life. Can't wait to meet William Wallace one day, hopefully on his home land, when there will be no borders and the original purpose for the earth is fulfilled.

Not running from the Mt Everest of our lives. My translation of his statement.... Not only inspired but desire now to inspire others. Anotherr statement I will ponder on was "you can't run" what challenge do we face that everything in us wants to run? That's our next level waiting to to be conquered.
