When i was in the hospital with brain cancer i remember a nurse stopping by every hour or so at night when i had panic attacks and headaches just stroking my cheek and my forehead and calming me down. I never got her name or clearly saw her but 13 years later i still get so thankful for that moment! I hope she is doing well.

Believe it or not, it could have been an Angel sent to look over you. I was in the hospital one time ,near death from paretenitis , abdominal infection, late one night a what I thought was a nun came in and told me no one was checking on me and they needed to check on me more than once a shift, I could bleed to death and no one would know. Next morning I asked the day shift nurse about her and nobody knew who I was talking about!

I ran out with a gallon of ice water and some cups and checked 2 or 3 times to fill it up. They were always grateful to see me. Sadly, now this is not what they are looking to keep. They are keeping budgets low by kicking us veteran teachers all out by bullying us until we have panic attacks and sleep issues and cannot function in our personal lives. They want inexperienced, cheap teachers who are willing to tell parents lies, keep secrets and hide the truth, accept mediocre or barely educational situations and be ok with just shoving issues under the rug. If you speak up, you are out. At least this is what happened to me. I was a Visual Arts teacher of 15 years. Now I know there are plenty of you that are going to call me "burnt out" or that I was never teacher material to begin with..I was lucky enough to have a teaching position offered to me right out of college based on my student teaching experience and my professor's high recommendation. My students meant the WORLD to me and they cried when I had to make that painful speech over and over to each of my classes that after 13 years together, they would be getting another Art teacher next year. It was so difficult and ripped my heart out. I had lesson plans I was so excited about teaching in the upcoming months and even the following school year that never came to life. I even tried moving to another state hoping that things would be different in a small town and that they might have a similar philosophy of education to mine away from the politics, but only after 2 years, I found out it was all the same. Instead of learning, high school kids are watching R or X rated movies on their iPads or bringing pillows and comforters to school to take naps in their classes and teachers are just sitting back, shopping online, and making personal phone calls. The few of us wanting to teach were constantly complained about from the student body and parents to the superintendent for interrupting their kids or "ruining their senior year experience" and it was out you go. I have been called every foul name you could think of. I have had threats against me and my personal property. I have had sharp objects violently thrown at me. I have had my drink spit into. I have had things stolen from me. School security never followed through or at times was even available and nothing would ever be done about it. I chose to no longer be in this profession. Seven Art rooms remodeled by me and my body over many summers for no pay over fifteen years, three painful surgeries, (one has changed my life forever), and a whole lot of pain both physically and emotionally, has me convinced I should have walked away a long time ago. If you are studying for a career in education and feel that this is a profession right for your lifestyle, who am I to judge. Just keep notes or a journal and a WRITTEN account of every negative experience. I wish I had. It would have made a great lawsuit and help with medical expenses today. I receive no assistance.

my own experience: it wasn't anything major but it keeps me going to this day. it was about half a year ago, i was in the car next to our local mall when i saw a black man and woman walking around with a basket of clothes. this is in Texas so it was 100 'F outside. i couldn't do much but i waved at them to say "hi!", and the man waved back and said "god bless you". I'm not religious but that made me feel so happy and grateful, i did such a simple act and he was grateful for it. im pretty sure they were homeless so they would rarely be waved at or acknowledged, that man and woman really made my day. i always want to go out and see where those two are now and see if i can help them in any way i can, but it was so long ago i dont even think they are here anymore. maybe this weekend ill try. ill look for them and give them food and water, its not much but its all i can do. god bless them

There is more to the meaning of inferior. As a person, they are by no means inferior. But when it comes to physical ability, they are. So while the choice of words was poor, by definition they were not incorrect.
