Once you unlock rainbow mode and fightsabre just keep quick restarting your rainbow runs until fightsabre shows up. You should have no problem getting to the punch out to practice after that. At least that’s how I easily practiced.

The battle itself isn't hard, but it goes completely out of the game mechanics and as it is so hard to get there to practice is very likely to loose the first few times, but once you learn it its the easiest part of the fight

Fun fact: If you don’t mind not getting all 6 Rat Keys (which you don’t need for everything you unlock) you can actually basically cheese the entire fight by getting in a rhythm with your Star Punches. After you Star Punch the Rat is guaranteed to do another one of his wind up attacks that makes him glow yellow (The Jab if IIRC). So, you can interrupt his Jab, grab a Star Punch, Star Punch him, then collect another Star from the move he’s guaranteed to do, rinse repeat until he dies. This gets you 5 Rat Keys (All you actually need for everything) and one dead Rat.

You have to get the gnawed key, find the hidden trap door on floor 3, use 3 blanks to destroy hidden walls, and then make it through a maze that has a custom path based off the rats notes in your game, then beat the first two phases of the rat boss which are similar to normal bosses but quite difficult to get to this part of the fight.
