Funny thing about Gen 1: Normal is as busted as or more busted than psychic. Good stab. Dealing with a lower defense stat generally. Hyper Beam. Normal is great

To be fair, with all the quirks in mechanics and the way certain things were programmed in Gen One, Bulbasaur was provably the best starter.

If it had a better move pool it would be but it just falls behind early and never really catches up. both of the other starters take brock down at a lower level and easier than bulbasaur. and none of them really struggle with misty by the time you get there. I love bulbasaur and always pick it.

Something to consider for a Pokemon TCG ban list, rather than a ban list, make some sort of restricted or point list (similar to how the LRR folks run Canadian Highlander) so players cannot just dump all the high value cards into their deck (ex: you can have 10 points in your deck, Oak is 2 points, electabuzz is 1 point, etc.)
