I got both Bonk's Adventure and Bonk's Revenge for Christmas 1992, so they both feel equally nostalgic to me.

I never played the TurboGrafx, but always enjoyed reading about it in gaming magazines back in the 90's. Your reviews feel like I'm getting a true perspective of the games when they were released, instead of judging them with todays standards. Keep up the great work!

I remember GamePro TV on some Saturday mornings. It makes me wonder what cartoons I was missing instead, though by 1991, cartoons weren't as strong as what came a few years before. Anyway, the show was good for seeing games in action on a TV show, which was unusual at the time. I remember watching right as I was looking to get a Genesis, so it was great for previews of games for the system. I remember seeing Spider-Man vs. Kingpin on the show and thinking it looked amazing. I also always remembered JD Roth and I've seen him all over the place over the years, but I didn't watch for the presenters and barely remembered that part of the show. I had never played PCE/TG16 until many years later. I finally got back into retro gaming after a while and decided the TG16 deserved a look. I remember not being too impressed with the system when it was demonstrated in stores in 1989 and 1990 with games like Keith Courage or Battle Royal, but I recall thinking Bonk looked pretty good at the time. The first Bonk was where I started with the system. I thought it was delightful. I loved the overall presentation, and I thought the game played really well too. I had a lot of fun with it. I pretty much agree with you on the series. The second game was a nice improvement to me. The third game I seemed to enjoy less. Something about its stage design didn't feel quite as good, but I did enjoy it as well.

But if its 10000 years ago like the ad says, then Bonk lived in circa 8000bc?! I’m confused

I'll be that guy, I like all 3 TG-16 Bonk games, own them on the Wii VC. Also have the NES port of the first Bonk, ran me $20 cart only (bought locally at a long closed retro game shop) when the game was well over the $100 mark online for that version, I like it. I also own both Game Boy games, second one the Japanese version (cheaper than the US version in price), like them as well. Have both SNES games as well, second one on the SFC since it didn't come to the US, and I absolutely love them too. Maybe I just love the Bonk games, I dunno. Had a friend who had an SNES before I did, and he also had a TG-16 with Bonk, I did my best to play both as much as possible when over at his grandparents house, where he stayed.

True story. I bought a Sega Master system because I played it in a Sears and I bought a Sega Genesis because I played Sonic the hedgehog in the same Sears. Demo kiosks work

Always wondered if you were going to cover Super Bonk on SNES. Nice to re-watch these reviews

I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the graphical cuts in the CD version of Bonk 3. There isn't enough RAM to hold all of the animation for the giant form, so much is missing.

Is Super Bonk the SNES version of Bonk III or is it totally unique, or a mix of games? I saw some things that looked similar in Bonk III, which I never played when I had my TG-16.

It's pretty much Bonk 4.
